Replacement for Apple Hi-Fi

So, don't scoff, but three years ago, I received the Apple Hi-Fi as a gift for the Holidays.
The unit was highly overpriced. But it was appealing because not only was it very easy to use and move around, but it offered good sound quality, too (admittedly, not $300-400 sound quality, but good sound quality and relatively loud volume nonetheless).
My speaker was stolen a couple months ago. And now, not only has Apple discontinued manufacturing the Hi-Fi, but I'm also unwilling to pay $300-400 for that unit or one that's similar.
So, with that in mind, do you have any recommendations for other iPod/computer speakers that are both convenient and offer solid sound quality?
