Well, I loved Spore for about two weeks and haven't played it since. I was hoping an expansion would fix a lot of my grievances, but it seems that it won't. At any rate, it's more than just Spore - most of the games I play are either older games (I just finished playing my first game of Civ4 on Marathon speed) or casual games (Alien Shooter, Plants Vs. Zombies). Hell, I've only finished about half of the Xbox games I've got.
Hell, I've even been spending less time on the PA forums *Gasp!*

Why did the Ghostbusters become the REAL Ghostbusters?
There was another cartoon show on at the time called "Ghostbusters" that featured a retarded ape dude and a retarded human dude in a retarded dune buggy and it was retarded.

I am falling into the same trap. Maybe it's because my only next gen console is my PC but boy am I playing and rediscovering some old shit.
At this point I kind of just want to start going through history, reclaiming all of the old consoles and playing what they have to offer.
man, Yuri is the first cat in years I've enjoyed playing with. Like active enjoyment. All stalking each other around the house. I think from now one I only want stray cats.
t el-yeah, but I feel like it got pretty obvious a few weeks before release that the wonder game everyone was hoping for hadn't manifested.

I want to log back into my okcupid profile because that online dating thread. But then I remember that it is a well of despair and I contain my lingering thirst for fear of drowning in the abyss.

Wasn't Spore the one everyone was fellating for months before it came out
What Will Wright showed in his demos before Spore was released looked like a more fun game than what was actually released. A lot of the things he talked about were removed even though they worked in his demonstrations, like the 'combining verbs' idea.
Everything was dumbed down to the point the entire game was neutered. The only thing that lived up to expectations was the creature creator.

Shit like the creature creator is lame. I want a game, not a shitty version of photoshop.
i was at party just now, had a beer, smoked (too much) weed.
we were chatting when all of a sudden i started feelign really out of focus, a little panicked. The music was suddenly too intense and i was getting really hot. I say "I don't feel too good." Next thing I know i'm on the floor convusling and people are helping me up. I get helped onto a chair and made to drink some water and wonder why the fuck i just had a mini-seizure and if my mind would ever unfog again.

What was removed? The spore stage or whatever was awesome fun.

maybe you have epilepsy. Or the dope was laced with something.
And no, you mind never really does unfog totally. First time I had a seizure I couldn't really remember anything for 2 weeks afterward. But then again, I wouldn't describe mine as mini.

sounds like some people I knew when I was younger used to get if they mixed alcohol and certain types of weed (usually skunk).

In one of the first demos Will Wright did he showed his creature killing another. Then he used a 'Bite' action to chomp down on the carcass and then did a 'move' action. By combining the two the creature started to drag the carcass around. This is what I was looking forward to. Instead we got 4 buttons. "Bite" "Claw" "Strike" "Charge" and cooldowns. Basically the interactions between creatures was like playing WoW with 4 abilities. You just hit the buttons whenever the cooldowns were up. It wasn't fun.
Also, the Tribal stage had only one real way of interacting with other tribes because fighting another tribe played almost the same as impressing another tribe. There was no depth, no options. You were able to create wild creatures that had nothing in common with each other except that you played the game the exact same way with a flying herbivore as you did with a twenty legged carnivore.

It's not. I just have ideas for a webcomic and am no artist.

I think the only genuinely good remix of video game music I've ever heard was one of Lamia's theme from SRW.
