Dark Reign should end with Ben beating up Norman, displacing Peter on the New Avengers, becoming a celebrity media darling, marrying Mary Jane, and becoming one of the most loved and successful superheroes in the Marvel U.
Peter meanwhile, continues to be a poor, emotionally stunted manchild that spends his evenings eating Hot Pockets and feeding his Aunt May's cat.
I read this without reading Magna Inferno's spoiler first and thought you meant Uncle Ben.

I think I like that version better.
I think I do too.
Really, though I was being hyperbolic earlier, I actually do like the idea of Ben Reilly becoming a kind of House of M Spider-Man. Someone who's considerably more successful and happy than Peter, but lacks the sense of responsibility that keeps Pete from exploiting his genius and abilities, revealing his identity, or otherwise doing things that would improve his life.
What, Ben Reilly would make callous comments about a guy with a huge hole in his head? And have rotten kids?
And also kill Andre the Giant with a bodyslam

I'm still holding out hope that one of these events will end with NEXTwave saving the day and proving that they were not the crazy ones but that the whole world was crazy and invaded by Anal Skrulls.

Aw, leave Teddy alone.
Speaking of which, where's my new NA book? I need some Kate Bishop reaction to Bullseye/Hawkeye. At least when Karla put on the Ms Marvel duds, they showed Ultra Girl all "But it's my costume wah wah" about it.

Here is the pertinent information about the Twilight Sword from FCBD Avengers in case it plays a part in Siege:
Where the hell did this come from? Whats FCBD? Holy crap I cannot believe I missed that much awesome.
Please enlighten me!

FCBD = Free Comic Book Day
Every year the companies make some comics free on the first Weekend in May (usually to tie in to some comic movie), and Marvel did a FCBD : Avengers one-shot.
They are usually fluff stories, so I never take them, hoping to leave the free copies for any new readers that happen to come out for FCBD. I'm pretty pissed about missing that Avengers story - Ares is such a great character.
It clicked for me while reading Mighty Avengers 32 / Dark Avengers 12 that Bendis is doing a logical continuation of the ACTS OF VENGEANCE crossover from the late 80s.
Yeah, but...
This is going back to Avengers #1 where Loki is the ultimate enemy.

I was thinking more along the lines of Loki recruiting a vast circle of other villains (who don't know that they're really working for Loki) to do his dirty work.
I agree with you. I'm just saying that at the end of the day the whole story is coming around full circle to the fact that the Avengers need to exist because of one entity: Loki.
Looking at Marvel's schedule for March releases, Siege #3 comes out mid-month while the Invincible Iron Man Disassembled conclusion comes out two weeks before so hopefully Bendis doesn't have Tony showing up till the third issue. Won't be quite as bad as Steve showing up before Reborn was finished but even lip service to continuity is better than none.
So Judging from the end of Who will wield the shield,
I'm guessing either Steve will end up being the new head of hammer/sheild or even the president himself after seige
It better not be the latter, because that's just stupid
Right before Avengers Disassembled changed everything, Robert Morales in his MK Cap run was going to make Cap the VP to the John Kerry-like candidate from his and Bachalo's run, and they win.
You just don't make Cap political, and that's where to me Civil War got messed up. Byrne got that point across on his short run

Okay maybe not the latter, but the first seems super likely

He's going to be the thug enforcer who knocks your teeth in if you don't have health insurance.
But yeah, I get the feeling it's the first thing you wrote.
If they make Steve be great at the job compared to Tony, though, what the fuck?

Tony had the ability and resources to make SHIELD work and has experience in both the superhero and private sector, and outside of his own book he was made to be a complete tool and a joke and the lies about the Skrulls being his fault seems to be taken as fact with Marvel.
If Steve gets away with being a great Head of SHIELD (because that can be the shield he wears ha!), it's that way of just ignoring the obvious. We've seen in CW that Steve can become a whiny baby when people don't do things exactly the way he wants them, and Steve isn't even willing to get his hands dirty like Fury was/does.
Granted the bloom is off the rose when I see Steve returning, because since CW I haven't liked him.
I'm pretty sure the Hood will either be killed or depowered for good during Siege. I know Bendis likes the Hood but I think even he realizes the character's run his course. What I imagine happening is Loki having no more use for him and stripping his powers away or they pull an Infinite Crisis #7 and Wilson Fisk kills him after yet another defeat.

His powers were already taken away, and then restored by Loki. I don't see all that work going away for nothing.

You know it would sell well.
I'd buy like 8 copies of each issue.
It's a real thing so I hope you have some disposable income.
Real American era or nWo era?
Don't forget his first heel character with Freddie Blassie or his current insensitive asshole character he plays today.
