Never having seen Avatar this comic loses all of its punch.
I've never watched it either but was still able to appreciate the humor of this strip.
I had to scroll down to the post that mentioned this was about the Avatar movie that was being made to even understand what was going on. That is rather disappointing. Why can't he talk about beholders from the Dungeons and Dragons movie? Or the beautiful masterpiece that was its sequel? That's something everyone has seen and can connect with Gabe on.
Also if it wasn't mentioned in the text of the comic, I would have no idea that colored gentleman was Morgan Freeman.

oh god so sorry they let you down by daring to address a topic you're not familiar with
they could do a Star Wars comic and some jackass would still come in here and complain they've never seen it and they should have done it on something else

Long time reader, first time coming here, etc, etc.
Just trying to clear something up...but I'm assuming that we're dealing with a "Gabe is stupid" schtick for the "See, that's you being racist" thing rather than the comic actually insinuating that assuming Aang is Asian is somehow racist. Am I right in this, or am I going to have to wait for the newspost to come up to try and piece together the logic here?
Morgan Freeman as Appa is hysterical either way. "I remembah Omashu..."

Because he does kung fu. That's how he is racist. Clearly all asains know kung fu, and or clearly white people can not do kung fu.

Or something equally confusing.

Weren't the dudes in the Kung Fu videogame white?
Pixelated white, but still - there's precedent!
Well now, who's fault is that?
I have a feeling I'd dig it.
How did I get here?
Get off my lawn.

it was pretty good!
it was, actually, you know, a dungeons & dragons movie
I'm cool with it though.
All the others were okay, mediocre, or terrible
And there isn't a word yet invented that can describe how awful the Happening was

What was it called, like did it have a sub title or something? Now i want to see it.
I agree with this.
And I hate him even more for the fact that he considered it a personal disappointment and that he dropped all his plans to do a sequel.
I think it was like, Return of the Dragon King or some shit
It was a Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie if I'm not mistaken
