Since VLC is 1.0, I don't think you even need a codec pack with it.

You didn't need a codec pack for it in the first place. VLC uses ffmpeg for its codecs.

    Just watched the latest Haruhi.
It strikes me that the characters aren't fully employing their available resources. Nagato can remember the events of each loop, yes? So if I were Kyon, the very first thing I'd do is tell her-- "I am only here to observe" be damned-- to alert everyone to the nature of the time loop the instant it repeated, and keep track of what specifically had been done so I could know what didn't work. Maybe that's just the gamer in me speaking, though. It hurts to watch people make mistakes.

I am going to predict that the loop-breaker is Kyon asking Haruhi for help with his homework. You get the relationship angle on top of the fact that it's the point at which each loop ends-- if Haruhi were sufficiently distracted by being with Kyon at that exact time, it might break the loop.

This episode feels like it moved the plot along a lot more than the second episode in the loop did. Tons more deja vu incidents. And I loved the psycho music when Kyon struck out on talking to Nagato. It's subtle, but they aren't just repeating the same things over and over.

Wait! I understand his message now!

He removed only the torrents of the episodes confirmed for DVD release with English subtitles.

It makes so much sense now.
