Is it morbid of me to say that as deeply unhappy as that man has seemed for the last couple of decades, the best wishes I can provide is that his passage is swift and peaceful?

every person who doesn't like an acquired taste always seems to think everyone who likes it is faking it. it should be an official fallacy.

    Pretty much this.

His story is always a sad one to recall. His legacy is a charicature of the dangers of fame, asshole parents, and discomfort in your own identity.

Maybe MIB had it right.. just like Elvis, he's a alien and he just faked his death becuase he wants to go home.

    Would explain a lot

Thankfully that legacy is littered with shit hot music.

My friends make fun of me for owning the first Justin Timberlake solo CD. But hell. It's vintage MJ completely through.

According to the data from Phoenix last year, the success rate on CPR is less than 5 percent, and as someone who does it pretty routinely, that sounds about right. So if they had to do CPR on him, it's really, really bad.

i said this in the SE++ thread

and i will say it here as well

i've never been sure how to feel about michael jackson

because it's never been clear, from where i sit, whether he is really a pedophile or just a weird, lonely dude who got fucked over by scheming parents of the boys he befriended

so whether or not i want to pity the guy is sorta complicated

Did you not watch the last trial? Hes a weird, lonely dude who got fucked over by the scheming parents of the boys he befriended.

Either way hes a legend and deserves your mourning.

I've always been a fan of his but if he makes up some bs reason why he cant do the summer tour then I am done with him. You can only stand by a guy like MIchael Jackson for so long. Time to put up or shut up...he better perform.

Yeah, that asshole better not skip his tour because of a itty bitty cardiac arrest. Or death.

I can't say with impunity either way, but from everything that the public knows about the guy, he's probably not a pedophile as much as he was severely fucked up in the head due to how he was raised.

I don't know much about the second court case, but the first one is pretty much a cut and dry example of extortion.

It's very sad that he's dead, but I think it's more sad that his life involved the some of the things it did. It seemed like everything around him was some bizarre, inescapable fantasy world. I wonder how he might have lived if he was never famous.

I'm also not looking forward to this shamelessly being the top story on the news for the next 2 weeks...

    but really

that's kind of a stupid attitude to take

I think the record has shown (and will continue to show) that Michael Jackson was guilty of little more than being the product of a very strange and oppressive environment. There are many people who grow up the same way, but everyone reacts differently. Some become normal people, some grow up to be hoodlums and thieves, some regress into a infantile fantasy land and take on the delusion that they are a six year old child. Also, a small portion of that group seem to want to simultaneously change race, physicality, and possibly gender.

Given that at his last court appearance, Jackson reportedly weighed less than 100 pounds, and had in the last year been forced to file bankruptcy, lose his home, and wander the Earth looking for work, I can only take solace in that he's hopefully found peace at last in this world.

    Name two.

Many people grow up in abusive households, but how many also deal with being multi-million record-selling artists by their early twenties?

Ritter died of an aortic dissection. Completely different from a heart attack, and undetectable beforehand.

It's more a stunned reaction from me. I preferred to think of Michael Jackson as two seperate individuals. Pre-whack-job and Post-whack-job. Thriller's release is pretty much the dividing point.

It's just... strange to think he won't be around any more.

And then blow the money faster than MC Hammer at a crack convention. The main reason Jackson had no money was his own fault.

    see, that's the thing

    even if

even if he did have sex with a boy or two

i find it hard to have sustained hostility towards him about that

i'm not a malicious or vengeful person, by nature

and his life has just been so pathetic and miserable that i don't really feel anything except pity, when i think about it
