[Updated at 3:15 p.m.: Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.
I dunno outside of OJ's recent legal problems both suffered long drawn out court cases for crimes they claimed to have not committed, and were both celebrities. Is it because OJ's black?
Well, again, Jackson probably didn't do what he was accused of, and OJ most definitely did murder those two people. He just got away with it due to prior mentioned dumb hick jurors.
We do? While there is a great deal of evidence that he was a murder, I don't think it is a declared fact.
Yes. Simpson's DNA and blood were all over the crime scene, Simpson's clothes had the victim's blood on them, Simpson's Bronco had the victim's blood in it, and even the infamous glove that Simpson didn't fit into had his and the victims blood on it.
Well, I'm not saying we should wish malice on him or fling insults at his grave or whatever; I just don't feel comfortable with people saying things that sound like (to me, correct me if I'm taking this wrong), "if he was a pedophile, oh well, it was just because he had a bad childhood".
I mean, you can take pity on a person and still condemn his actions (if they did occur).
Yeah but nobody seems to try to understand the conditions that created the MJ we came to know during the end of his career. People like Fireflash just get up on their high horse and completely fail at acting like a human fucking being and showing some empathy.

True, but as someone who likes exactly one Michael Jackson song, the proper way (to me, at least) to put "Michael Jackson (probably) touched little boys" into an empathetic context is "The guy suffered through a childhood full of really hideous abuse, coupled with incredible fame and a complete lack of a support structure that could have intervened and given him the therapy he obviously needed. That doesn't excuse his actions, but puts them in an important context."
Not "Hey, he made Thriller, that lets him fuck his weight in toddlers as far as I care."

People are starting to gather at the medical center. Don't know if that is press or fans.
This is gonna sound HORRIBLE, but I am sitting here wondering... Is this good or bad for Iran? I mean, suddenly the American 24/7 news cycle is paying attention to something else completely, meaning the government of Iran won't be getting more fuel... but at the same time, people might forget what is going on in Iran.
(I promise this is the only post on the subject, I'm just musing.)

I see what you did there.
Usually I think pedos can fuck right off, but Jackson was uniquely disturbed. You assign less blame to a psychotic who stabbed someone because he thought it was an evil demon coming to steal his soul. You just lock him in a cell and try to make him sane. (Or forget he's there, you know. Whatever.)
Michael Jackson was fucking crazy. Were he not a celebrity, he would likely have been committed. He was basically a victim of his own celebrity. And what we wound up with was a serially abused, emotionally stunted man-child who legitimately could not relate to anyone over the age of ten. Sure, what he did was wrong. And it's wrong when the psycho kills the man who is decidedly not a soul-stealing demon. But the whole "BURN IN HELL!" mentality is extremely simplistic, and very sad.

It's not hypocritical.
It's honest.
You can think you are a better person than me for being honest about the kind of human being I am. Makes you a douche, but that's your call.
But, I can show empathy and pity for a pathetic human being shit upon by life who died as a result of the clusterfuck that was their life. You, apparently, can't if they have even been accused of a crime.
I think that makes you a douche, and a shitty human being.
The fact that a person like me can do this and you can't speaks poorly of you, bucko, and doesn't make me a hypocrite at all.
