Manhunter!

Finally got the first few issues of Manhunter. Man, this is some excellent stuff! I realize I am like three years late to the party with this one, but does anyone still read it?

That pic in the wiki is strangely sexual, with the SPAS right where a wang would be if she were a man, and the strange stretching legs pose to reload it.

I love this book, but that wiki cover is terrible. It's like her left leg isn't even attached to her body, just sort of floating there, high up on her side.

The thing I like about Kate Spencer is that she's really a terrible parent.

She's a better parent than Dr. Doom or the Hulk, though.

Have they tried to tie her to the old Manhunter from Batman yet? I loved those stories.

I love the dialogue in this book. In one issue, Manhunter confronts some villain who's about to kill Cameron Chase (from the old Chase series, which was also awesome by the by), and learns the villain's name is Sweeney Todd. Later she meets up with Obsidian and his boyfriend Damon, and she brings the guy up, misremembering his name as Sweety Tom or something to that effect. Obsidian delves into a whole discussion about Sweeney Todd, who was an evil barber that'd slit the throats of men he'd give shaves to, and how it was perhaps one of the greatest musicals of all time. Given this valuable information from her friend and ally, how does Kate reply?

"You know what's gayer than you right now?"
    "What?"
    "Absolutely nothing."

I also like how Alan Scott refers to his son's boyfriend as "Todd's friend."

Come on, give him a little more credit than that. It's just that growing up in the Golden Age left him with a limited sexual vocabulary.

Even asking to do it with the lights on requires all sorts of verbal acrobatics on his part, and it'll take him hours to explain that he wants it doggy-style.

    Heehee.

Oh, and did anyone read that Alex Ross interview where he did some passive aggressive bitching about Obsidian being outed?
The last character I’m noticing on the cover of Justice Society of America #1 is Obsidian because you get a table of all these other characters you get to do in full, and all you get to draw for him is his floating eyes. Will you ever draw the full Obsidian?
    Alex Ross wrote:
ROSS: I have no idea. I don’t know that that would be the case. Obsidian being put into the JSA is a lot like—and I’m speaking for Geoff here, which he may not agree with—but it’s him grabbing a character that’s just going to get molested further in other writer’s hands. So he’s grabbing him and putting him in the group so he at least can be shepherding this character that belongs in this association. Maybe he’ll make sure that no other writers get any “fun, creative” ideas with him.

A lot of Ross fanboys have responded that Ross could have been talking about any number of "fun, creative" ideas. But since only two writers have really used Obsidian in the past five years (Johns turning him into a villain and depowering him, Andreyko repowering him and turning him into a gay hero), he can really only be talking about one thing, since he obviously has no problems with Johns.

Johns also later responded on his forum that only he gets to speak for himself. He's also been one of Andreyko's and Manhunter's staunchest supporters.

However, Alex Ross pretty much does jerk his dick off to Silver Age heroes.
