Microsoft .Net Framework [SOLVED]

So it seems over time/many game installations I have collected several versions of the .Net framework software. Is it safe for me to uninstall all the older versions and use solely the newest version?

    It depends.

.NET 3.0 or 3.5 are just built on top of 2.0, and you need all of them.

.NET 1.0 and/or 1.1 aren't needed by most things, unless you still have software that is specifically looking for the 1.1 package, and then it won't work without it.

yea in the end you should really have 1.1, 2.0, 3.5. I think that 3.5 contains all of 3.0 so you don't need that one, same with 1.1 and 1.0.

I just went through some massive bullshit trying to get Lord of the Rings Online to work it requires 1.1 but it wouldnt work so I had to uninstall all then reinstall in order. God it was horrible.

2.0 isn't backwards compatible with 1.1 so you need both. Anything above 2.0 is mostly just added libraries. Honestly, just don't touch anything.

Wow, alright then. Would've thought they'd be backwards compatible.

They're SxS, right? So they wouldn't need backwards compatibility because they are meant to co-exist
