Piano. I play Guitar, Banjo, Uekelele and all that, but those are pretty much hobbies for me right now, even though I've been playing Guitar 2-3 hours a day these days to try to get to a professional level on them.
For an example to piano players... you've probably all played "Solfeggietto" by C.P.E. Bach, right? That I'm learning on one hand for fun right now. I'm working on Chopin 10-4, mostly just for auditions. 2 years ago for an audition I decided to learn Beethoven Sonata Pathetique in two days. But really... I've recently realized when dealing with people who play professionally who after practicing about reach my ability sight-reading just how good I am on the instrument. I mean, I work as an accompanist, and can sight-read what all my colleagues practice on. It's pretty stupid.
Really I'm a horrid freak. I'm not very socially able, I'm a horribly messed up person. But damn can I play the motherfucking piano.
I mean.. may it's my weird upbringing, but we've all heard of the "real musicians" story of the people who can play pretty much anything and memorize it instantly and know everything that's going on and all that shit? I'm one of those people.
Again, I'm normally not even stupid arrogant enough to admit this, but so much rum you guys.

Though I did fuck the hell out of a page turn for her. And really that was my worst performance of the night. Which is a shame 'cause I'd totally bang that girl.

I started when I was 6. Which puts me at now... 16 years in. And 2 of those were at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and 2 were working 4-6 hours a day while still going to classes.
I'm the opposite of your teacher. I cannot for the life of me teach beginners, but give me someone who knows what they're doing for the most part and I can work with them to hell and back.
I will admit, my favorite thing is working with pits and bands and honing already insanely good musicians to just be mind-blowingly good.
