I hate to be that guy but X3:TC is saddled with TAGES DRM with a limit of 5 activations on Steam which is a dealbreaker for me personally considering you can buy the disc check only DVD version from GoGamer for the same price.
X3: Terran Conflict has a better interface than Reunion (a huge improvement, IMO), a way better mission system (with actual guidance and a way to easily see your objectives), but doesn't run as well as Reunion does on the same hardware; it has slightly better graphics, but I couldn't really tell the difference. It's easier to get into thanks to the improvements, and there's excellent community support for it (and Reunion) on the official forums (tons of add-on scripts and fun stuff like that).
I keep getting errors when I try to buy this. Must be an error that it's posted at that price. Oh well, even though I never would have played it, I'd grab it for $0.10
Wouldn't that be because you're in a different area? The price for North America seems much higher.

Its showing up at $0.10 for me, and I live in the states.

That would be because of the ?cc=au part in the link.

Nope, still there when I remove it.
It remembers the setting for the duration of the browser session. Try changing the au to the two letter code for other countries.
Well, I tried the Men of War demo, and I like it....but the controls are awkward in some ways, and there's so many button assignments I don't know which are useful and which are not. Plus I don't see anything to automatically have my men scavenge for more ammo and things like that, do they do that on their own?

Not really. They pick up guns if they drop theirs. It gets much more intuitive once you've played a bit. The controls are overwhelming at first compared to other RTS games but once you've played for a while you realize what controls you need and what you don't. Check out the gameplay videos in the MoW thread.
Men of War is a good game. The mission editor is kind of a pain, mostly because the documentation sucks, but with a bit of digging you can sort things out. But I really dig the unit control, once you get the hang of it.
Which of the Paradox games are any good?
Anything RTS style, the lower the system requirements, the better.

I've heard good things about Men of War, but my backlog is bad enough within the RTS genre alone. I've also heard it has hilariously bad voice acting. One of the podcasts I listened to described it as Russian guys trying to imitate how they think English-speakers would do a Russian accent.

What really gets me is that the Russian accents are horrible. I mean, if you're in RUSSIA, it seems like you could just hire anyone who spoke English and get a better accent.
Darn it, steam sales are terrible (for my wallet). I still have to finish COH from the relic sale months back, but bought MoW. And I haven't even installed HoMM5 yet, and also picked up kings bounty

Yes, the voices are terrible. I think the game is fun enough to forgive them for it though.

It's still hard as balls, though. I'll admit I don't really play many RTSs, but even the tutorial mission on easy degenerated into endless save/loads by the end - a single lucky hit can immobilise or kill your tank outright, and you're constantly overwhelmed by troops that have the exact same HP and abilities that you do. On the second mission, I'm being asked to defend a trainyard against unpredictable swathes of German troops coming from two compass directions, and being told I need to manually fetch ammo for the artillery from a depot. I mean, it's clearly a good game, but I can see why hardcore strategy remains so incredibly niche - and probably why it's rewarding for those chosen few.

I think I only ran across a couple missions I ever had to reload or restart. The AI is scripted pretty strongly, and not hard to exploit once you figure it out.
The game does have a lot of micromanaging however, the AI will tend to send your soldiers into idiot positions and you gotta do a ton of work keeping them alive.

Oh well single player is definitely hard as balls. One of the hardest games I've played since the first in the series, Soldiers: Heroes of World War II. Multiplayer is much less difficult because everyone gets the same amount of resources to play with and the same objectives. Fighting against humans means your enemy has no unfair advantage.
Coop makes single player easier (still very hard) and way more fun.
Well, out of all these games, what I should I get? I haven't played AAAANNNYYY of them. I was going to finally
pick up X3 Terran Conflict but i'm not too sure anymore. Any awesome recommendations?

Oh, is Men of War made by the same people who did Soldiers: Heroes of WWII? When people described MoW, Soldiers was the first game I thought of. I've only ever played the demo of that one and I decided that was enough for me. Seemed cool, but too difficult for me.

You don't have to get anything; saving money and all :P
I'd still suggest X3: Terran Conflict if you absolutely must get something. It's really open ended (you can completely skip the entirety of the story and not miss out on anything) which can be good or bad, but there are a lot of add-ons on the official forums that'll extend the gameplay quite a bit.
Those forums are here, and there's a thread on these boards dedicated to the game, too (it covers both Reunion, the predecessor, and Terran Conflict; most of the stuff which applies to Reunion still applies in Terran Conflict). You could try poking around those if you're having reservations and want a bit more info to help.
I got my finger hovering over Knights of Honor.. a quick google says it's fun once you get past the learning curve.
Anyone got any experience with it?
It is kind of like a Total War game weighted in the opposite direction. Combat is less complex and impressive, but diplomacy and empire management is much more rewarding. I really enjoyed back in the day.
You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye
Who cheer when soldier lads march by
Sneak home and pray you'll never know
The hell where youth and laughter go

Yeah, I bought it and that Europa Universalis. Knights of Honor is a really simplistic empire building game, yet is quite fun. Europa seems like it's fun, but I can't yet figure out how to play it. I lost several provinces because I couldn't figure out how to get units on a boat.

Did you get Rome or III? Either I would have recommended over Knights of Honour, although, you really need the manual in your hands while you are learning to play.
Edit
For loading units onto boats, the boats need to be undocked from the port and at sea in the territory.

I poked around the X3 threads and I am struggling to realise why it is such a great game.
Maybe it's just because I don't find earning money that interesting, I am not 100% sure
what you use that money for anyway.
What I am really looking for is a good, big, long rpg. I've only played rpgs (Oblivion,
Fallout 3, Mass effect, a bit of Diablo 2...) anyone got any recommendations? I don't mind
if they are old or outdated, just something worth my money.
