Interested in reading Conan the Barbarian books.

I'm interested in reading the original Robert E. Howard Conan books. However, I'm not sure where to begin. Which is the first book in the series? Is there a collection or specific edition I should look for? Are these books even worth reading to begin with?

I don't know about books, but theres a large collection of short stories over at Robert E Howard's Wikisource page arranged chronologically

Gods of the North is one of my favs if you want to skip around

There is a three-book series with all of Howards Conan stories, starting with this book. It is in publication order rather than chronological; however, you really don't need to read them in chronological order.

Yeah I read a collection of his short stories. I don't think Howard really wrote "books" of Conan as he was mainly submitting them to magazines for money.

    Hmm. Interesting.

I think I'll buy that Conan collection linked earlier. Oh, and I've just discovered Solomon Kane. Man, he sounds like a badass.

I think I'll buy the Solomon Kane collection if I like Conan.

Oh, and one last question: is Kull different from Conan in any meaningful way? Or is he just a reapplication of the Conan mold?

Kull was a rewrite of a Conan story, or the other way around. That sort of thing wasn't really uncommon back then.
