If you've seen my previous thread about finding songs then you'll know the backstory of this.
I was looking for a certain song. I found it, but it turns out the bit I really like starts a few minutes in and there's all this weird techno junk on the front, so I need a way of cropping it.
And just for the record, Audacity doesn't work. Because when I load the song into it, it just screws up and compresses the whole song down so it plays in about a second. 7:33 of song in a second, so it's just one large bleeping noise, which isn't helpful.
Does anyone know of any programmes that are easily usable so I can cut this garbled shit off the front of my track?
P.S: This is my last thread for a long while now, since i've made, like, 3 in the past 2 days. So, sorry
See I have no idea what that means. I think I know why it fucks up. My other songs are .mp3 as normal, but this one (I bought it from iTunes if that makes a difference) is .m4a. So that might be the reason for Audacity's fuckup, but i have no idea how to fix that problem

You got it from iTunes, so it probably has copy-protection on it.
BUT, as for changing the file extension... go to the folder the song is in, then on the toolbar go Tools > Folder Options, go over to the View tab and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". That will make the file extensions viewable.
Copy the song and rename it, replacing .m4a with .wav
If it has copy protection and you can't do shit to it, assuming you're on Windows you can just get something like TotalRecorder and create a .wav of the part you like, and then just re-encode that in iTunes. The mac equivalent is called AudioHijack.
Oh and duh, just remembered, in iTunes you can simply set a new start point. Right-click a song, "Get Info," and in the Options there's start time and end time. Just punch in the time you want it to start, et voila.
