$30 is better than $50. I'm surprised it got here so quick, go USPS. Gogamer is fast becoming my favorite way to buy games if I don't download them off Steam.

I am running Windows XP, have the lastest drivers and a nVidia 9600 and this game runs, but the animations are all stuttering and jerky. The cutscenes are especially brutal. Anything I am doing wrong? As an aside, my screensaver (the 3d ones) are also incredibly jerky and off. However other games seem to run fun (Trine for example).

The opening sweep of the city in the demo was pretty terrible on my 8800 as well. But I can pan and zoom all I want in the game and maintain a solid framerate.

I'm guessing they're using some post processing effect that's slowing it down a bit in the cut scenes. Maybe the depth of field?

No clue. I suck at the whole tech side of games. So I wouldn't even know where to look. The games fps is absolutely fine, its just the animation transitions that suck. For the people they dont move, they stutter like they are repeating frames of their animations.

Oh I didn't notice any problems with the people walking around. But then I didn't spend all that much time looking at them.

placing lumberyards? use the demolish tool to remove all trees around it, and then place it. BAM - 100% productivity. works the same with coal burners.

What? Lumberyards have better productivity if they don't have trees around them?

Well I re-installed Windows Vista and the game runs fine now on Very High. One crash to desktop, but I'm sure there will be patches to fix that.

The maps in this game are so strange. If the world was covered with islands like that it would be crazy.

it goes - crop farm, mill, crop farm, bakery. it's a good way to save space

Do the roads just need to touch one of the fields on a farm, not the actual building?

If a building that uses another building's production is within its area of influence, it'll send people out to pick the stuff up it needs itself, without need of roads.

So, where is all my fish going? I have two fish farms, and still only have 4 fish in the warehouse. Nevermind my wood is pitched to the roof!

wait so I dont need roads? I could just have a wheat farm, a flour farm, and a bakery all neatly tuck together and just connect the bakery with a road to a warehouse?

Basically, you just need roads to get stuff to the warehouses. And in cities so your citizens can access the tavern/church/and such.

Please note I have yet to use the firehouses, so I have no clue if they need a road to get to a burning building.

So I got the game went to install it and it doesn't read the dvd. It basically doesn't see that it's there. I think it has something to do with the DRM. It's going to be pretty ironic if I have to go looking for a downloadable version of this game to punch in my legal key.

I think the key actually works if you use the 'add to steam' feature on steam :O

I need to get the game on my harddive and steam won't let me do that unless i pay monies.

i am too lazy to use large trading ships so I just make the best use of triangle trade and doubling up on purchasing. one of these days I'll be able to figure out how to make it so I don't have to alter production on any factory: demand will meet supply and I will get a PhD in Economics

My supply usually outstrips demand so much that I end up with a trading ship filled to the brim with spice, endlessly sailing in circles.

for shits and giggles go to Games->Activate a Product on Steam and type in your cdkey. It might not work but it's better than torrents!
