Two of my favorite lines in this movie came from Jetfire

"My father was a wheel! He was the FIRST wheel! And you know what he transformed into? NOTHING! But he did it with honor, and dignity!"

    and

"Earth? What a horrible name for a planet. Might was well call it Dirt.

    Planet Dirt."

Yeah. That actually made up for the incontinence joke for me, and put Jetfire in the Plus column.

Pac Man's character is difficult to explain even to the Japanese -- he is an innocent character. He hasn't been educated to discern between good and evil. He acts more like a small child than a grown-up person. Think of him as a child learning in the course of his daily activities. If someone tells him guns are evil, he would be the type to rush out and eat guns. But he would most probably eat any gun, even the pistols of policemen who need them.

I don't understand how Transformers age

I think they mentioned something about decaying energy states, and how if they don't get energon, they tend to start falling apart.

Also, machines age quite easily. Not in the same way people do, but over time, metal gets stressed, parts break, etc. And if you're already an older model by that point, and haven't been getting your maintenance, well, getting an upgrade might seem like too much trouble...and eventually, your old parts just can't get replacements.

In short: retrofitting only goes so far.

I don't see why not. But maybe things like facial hair aren't actually metal, but crystalline deposits that can accumlate and grow over time...

I know, I'm wanking. I'm just trying to ignore the suck of the movie and bounce ideas for how to make some of its more interesting concepts work on an even vaguely scientific basis.

Oh so apparently the Fallen is a multiversal singularity

So the movie version is in fact the same character as the comic version, and not just an alternate character like the various Optimuses and Megatrons and such

Yup, as are all of the original 13. Though I thought I remember them originally saying that each continuity could only have 1 of the 13, then they changed it to that explanation when bay went and stole the Fallen.

it's kind of a dumb thing for them to do for their fiction

He was just mentioned at one point as President Obama moving to an undisclosed location. I think that means he got permission to use his name, as opposed to making up a fictional character.

If we're following Unicron's example, no. It'd take more then just his body being taken out to put him down permanently.

BTW, I vote this guy for the third movie's old duffer.

I read through the reviews on rotten tomatoes and I guess I just don't get how people could dislike the movie that much. I thought the jokes were cheesy. I thought the twins were pretty blatant stereotypes. I know there wasn't much to the story, but dammit if I wasn't laughing and enjoying myself with the rest of the theater full of people.
