league game:
ArmLion's Cult of the Bloody Tongue vs my Wing and a Prayer XL
ArmLion's team won 3-2
random notes:
my ninja wood elves managed to seriously hurt 2 of his men (including the kicker which gave me a shot at evening up the game at the end but i was 2 squares short of a chance at a 1 turn TD).
surprisingly i only lost 2 man in the game as well to injury.
ArmLion's large number of rerolls was a huge difference to my 0 (I decided to try both 1 treeman and 1 wardancer instead of more linemen and some rerolls). it was surprising how much ground the wood elves could cover, but in the end their nimbleness failed as my thrower tripped and coughed up the ball near my end zone for the go ahead TD.
I was hoping my wall of elves would prevent him from scoring, but his blitzing ball carrier had grab for some reason and did a little do si do with my last elf standing right into the end zone.
good game ArmLion!

Are goblins butterfingers or something? I felt good getting the first touchdown against the computer in my very first game, but then I got scored on twice because my goblins would fail to just pick up the damn ball on the kick-off.
There is still something gratifying about chuckin' goblins, though.

Ask fencat, one of his rats spent 4 turns trying to pick up a ball about 4 squares from the touchdown zone. It ended up making the game a win to me rather than a draw! I only had 4 guys left on the pitch also
Seems to be a bug though in that if they are injured and recover from a KO (i.e. they aren't actually on the pitch at the time of the changeover) they won't get sent off (when in fact they should).
I figured we could do some puzzle-like challenges to help people learn the rules and how to use positioning and such. Made a small and easy example bellow.
Skaven (blue) vs Orcs (orange). Each have 3 linemen. They are all strength 3, and Orc lineman nr3 has the ball. You are Skaven and it's your turn. How do you get a 2 die blitz against the ball carrier?
What do you guys think about the way the Training works?
I think it's completely useless. +1 in a stat is nice, but your chances of getting it are so low I would much rather training provided SPP for players.
I have a problem where one of my Stormvermin is just never leveling or getting SPP. He's not strong enough to smash guys down and my Gutter Runners do almost all my scoring because they're the guys moving 10 spaces through groups of guys to intercept, pass and then touchdown.
My other Stormvermin managed to level early on with a MVP for some serious blocking and as a result I bought him Mighty Blow and now he regularly injures of kills guys.
well my lizardmen team is great! 4-1-0 online with a TS of 1310. Also I applied to the league with a wood elves team named whistlin' woods league and my coach name is Funky Crime.
When I tried lizardmen in FUMBBL I got destroyed but now that I have practiced a few games agaisnt the AI I am actually decent with them and that makes me happy.
Correct! You win a Big Moot sandwich. Here's the solution.
The idea is that S1 cancels out O2's assist by putting him in his tackle zone. S3 goes to the only square where he can assist against O3 without being in any other tackle zones, and S2 goes in for the kill...
Seems to be a bug though in that if they are injured and recover from a KO (i.e. they aren't actually on the pitch at the time of the changeover) they won't get sent off (when in fact they should).
What does the LRB say? Pretty sure the rules blurb in the game states that its only if they are on the pitch they get sent off, so the text seems to match the implementation.
I've been sending my fanatic into the crowd during the first drive if he ends up with nothing better to do, and so far (fingers crossed) he's been getting up by the second half. The others are a little harder to remove from the pitch though.
I'm assuming the answer isn't "train the Wardancer to have Jump Up, Sprint and Sure Feet, and pass to her," right?
OK, then.
Stand up Wardancer and Blitz the Blocker. Specifically, run along the sideline and hit him on his left side to maximize the chance of being able to either knock him down or push him sideways and back to get him off the Catcher. Thrower runs toward the Catcher and throws either a Quick or Short Pass (I forget the ranges).

hmmm maybe if you can't get close enough you could do a quick pass to the lineman and then hand it off to the catcher.
True, but that does add one extra die roll into the mix (Throw-Catch by Lineman-Catch by Catcher). I think it would be overall safe to have a slightly longer throw to the Catcher if necessary. Of course, all this depends on the skills involved...if the catcher has Nerves of Steel, it might be worthwhile to skip the Wardancer blitz just let the Catcher dodge away. If the Lineman has Catch or AG+1, passing to him might make sense.

These guys are dwarfs man, they have all kinds of Tackle going on! But yeah, nerves of steel is completely ridiculous on a catcher imo. How do you stop that?

LRB says under secret weapon:
"Once a drive ends that this player has played in at any point, the referee orders the player to be sent off to the dungeon to join players that have been caught committing fouls during the match regardless of whether the player is still on the pitch or not."
You are Orcs = Orange. You have made all your moves except for your Thrower, who has the ball. You realize he is in trouble from your weak flanks. You have used your blitz but have a re-roll. Where do you move the ball?
I'd move 2 units right of the Blitzer and pass it to him. Should be an easy pass and catch, you've got a reroll if you need it, the Thrower finishes the cage. At worst you suffer one Blitz block next turn, and you should be able to push forward with your Black Orcs leading the way.
I'd probably go for that as well, or a handover. Another option would be to move back out of range of the MV6 Beastmen, and hope you can set up a nice pass next turn. Feels risky moving the ball so far back though.
my ninja wood elves managed to seriously hurt 2 of his men (including the kicker which gave me a shot at evening up the game at the end but i was 2 squares short of a chance at a 1 turn TD).
Yeah, somebody apparently switched my humans with paper mache mannequins while I wasn't looking. I'm down to 8 players, with only 7 available for the next match. I guess I'm lucky that, except for that Blitzer that was fouled to death by voodoospork's evil Dwarfs, it's all been lineman with little or no SPP who've gotten long term injuries... my kicker will be back after my next match.
it was surprising how much ground the wood elves could cover, but in the end their nimbleness failed as my thrower tripped and coughed up the ball near my end zone for the go ahead TD.
Somehow I forgot that elves are fast and pass... heh... been playing too many bashy teams I guess... it was at least twice that I thought my ball carrier was safe and then found him surrounded by angry elves... and when you handed off to your thrower at the edge of the scrum, I looked down the field and saw a wide open lineman in the middle of the field and thought I was done. I had brought pretty much everybody I had to the ball and forgot about passes... lucky for me you failed that dodge.
I was hoping my wall of elves would prevent him from scoring, but his blitzing ball carrier had grab for some reason and did a little do si do with my last elf standing right into the end zone.
I actually have a question for the experts regarding that, since Grabby didn't have the ball yet actually... your guy was between him and the ball and the endzone... so it was a 2 die block where I got 2 pushes and still had a reroll. I couldn't decide whether it was better odds to use the reroll and hope for a block, both down, or stumble(he didn't have dodge did he?) or save it and use Grab to throw your guy behind me. In the former case, I could obviously roll double skulls or be left with a push again, and even if I got the block, I wouldn't have a reroll for the pickup... but in the latter case I had to make a 3+ dodge and then a 3+ pickup with one reroll available. Thoughts on what others would have done there?
Grabby actually had an amazing game... I think he ended up with 8 SPP... a 2 TD's and a casualty. So he's level 3 now. I subsequently made the incredibly questionable call of not using doubles to give him Dodge and took Strip Ball... but since he's basically "questionable calls" incarnate, I figured it might work out.
good game ArmLion!
Good game indeed.
I'm leaving this afternoon for the beach, so Cult of the Bloody Tongue is out of commission until Monday the 20th... everybody try and get your best players killed while I'm gone!
I just rejected two applications to the dummy league because I think the players weren't actually on the league roster, if I was wrong, re-apply and fire me a PM with your coach name in it.
I'm really tempted to make a team where all player skill progressions are totally random. I'd just roll dice to select which category of skill, and then draw names out of a hat or whatever. I'm sort of hoping for someone with, say, Fend/Kick-off Return/Sprint/Safe Throw, just to see what I can make out of him.

No, I accepted you and some others. There were just two names that I couldn't place at all.
I'll be logging on too. Dumb question: how do you challenge in the private league? It's like the challenge button is gone.
Actually, I don't know how to do this either. Since I have a dummy team in the league, how do I actually make my mans fight your mans? Do I need to be leagueless?

Both of your actual league teams should be in the public league. Where one challenges the other as you normally would. The dummy teams shouldn't ever do anything, really.

The promised rematch of Green Fairies vs Fen's Eleven
It all start out fine and happy, the team hating on eachother, Bob the Squirrel Eater eyeballing everyone, on account on holding an eyeball from the last game still.
First turn goes to Green Fairies who promptly gets stomped
The remaining rats and Bob then continues the elf stomping, with Kafka having some amazingly bad rolls and me for once having good ones.. Little did I know this would change
Touchdown! Wardancer faceplants!
A screen I would see more then once during this game.
Which of course results in a
Another amazing roll
Which results in this
Which ment another..
It aint all bad however :winky:
Eager to get back into the game my Stormvermin smacks an elf into the ground by some amazing acrobatics
Braved by his bigger stronger and better armoured cousin Crash tries to make a tackle, notice the trying part..
All is not lost however, one of the Fairies tries to run by Bob, who's aint having nothing of it.
Then Squeek the Drooling makes a bolt for the TD zone and..
Round 5 ends and we survey the damage
Round 6 starts with a knockout
The fairies then passes the ball, and fails horribly
Bob spots a squirrel in the pants of one of the elfs and makes a grab for it!
While the other skaven tries to convince Bob that what he is trying to grab is really not a squirrel the Fairies quickly runs down to the other end of the stadium and..
Upskirt Elfies! :winky: oh yeah
Ishtok Squirrel Eater beeing pissed by the lack of squirrels takes his anger out on one of the elves, he was promised squirrels damnit!
Kafka tries to distract me with some more elf dancing at this point to stop his team getting curbstomped.
Bob however is pissed someone tried to steal his midgame snack that he stuck on the spike of his shoulderguard.
I do a meet and greet with the fans figuring they want some autographs. I'm wrong.
Bob gets pissed about this, he gets pissed about alot of things, sometimes he gets pissed about beeing pissed. He's awesome that way. Also, he got claws. Big ones.
The Fairies tries some improvised dancing at this point, but manage to strain something and needs to be carried off.
The Flying Ninja Stormvermin claims another victim.
Then I spend 4 rounds trying to pickup a ball and score, all to no avail, an elf grabs the ball, passes and
I might have lost on points, but I managed to make an impression all the same.
I'll be logging on too. Dumb question: how do you challenge in the private league? It's like the challenge button is gone.

Otherwise September with the rest of the releases - 360, Steam, retail release, PSP.

Very first play of the game had my Ball&Chain goblin injure himself.
Then 3 turns later, my Chainsaw got taken out for secret weapon after opposing team scored a touchdown.
Then lost my Pogoer 3 turns later for half-time.
MWO: Adamski
Secret weapons always get taken out after a touch down or at half-time. So you have to factor that into your plans.
