It's funny, every player I have personally named when I hired them to any team I have ever had has ended up dead or seriously injured within their first 2 games. Now I just refresh the Purchase Player screen until they pop up a name I like, just in case.

I take the time to name every player on every team. They aren't the best of names, but at least i can pronounce and remember them. For instance, without having to look it up, i can tell you that my saurii's names are: Greenie, Prairie Fire, Suplex, Scalemaster of the Clouds, Snap and Guinness. Hugmonster was killed and Hugmonster Jr. got a niggling in his first game.

This will probably backfire because i might be more mad when they die.

That was the worst match this team has had, no doubt about it. But they have been playing really bad lately, so they deserved it. I hope they can stay on their feet next time.

I actually had three players die, but for once the apothecary actuall worked and saved one. I then fired one from the team, who recieved a niggling injury. That should teach the rest of them!

Wow, Rabbit, you've had some bad luck today. Perhaps you guys need to get some training secrets from dwarves. Or just kill some of them and steal their armor.

And, remember, Chaos teams don't fire players. They sacrifice them.

I think the league is updated.

Speaking of the league, does anyone want to take over for my as the commissioner?

A lot of stuff has come up and I'm having a hard time finding the time to keep up with things, and finding the motivation to keep updating the wiki. The place I'm staying at right now got broken into last night, so, I'm dealing with that atm. Just fire me a PM if you want the commissioner spot, it's really not a lot of work.

Is this game worth the $50? It looks like the best violent sports game since Jerry Glanvilles Pigskin Footbrawl, but i'm not sure it has the depth to shell out $50 for it.

If you enjoy online multi-player, yes, yes it very much is. If you prefer single-player depth, then no. The AI just isn't competent enough to present a long-term challenge.

Oddly enough, this game has an absurd amount of depth in terms of team management and levelling players. The single player campaign is fun for a little bit, but to get the most out of the game you absolutely have to play multiplayer.

Ok, since the official forums are down, can someone please answer this:

I connect to the internet via an Apple Airport Express, where I've forwarded zero ports for Blood Bowl. Only the Windows Firewall has permissions set for it, and I managed to create my account just fine.

A friend of mine, who connects directly to the internet gets connection errors when he tries to create his Blood Bowl account. We're in the same country. How on earth can this happen?

EDIT: The exact error he is getting is "error failed to establish connection"...

EDIT 2: Google cache dug up a 6 page thread on that issue. Seems many people are getting it, god damnit!

Hey guys. My EB Games does not carry this. Is this a digital download only?

I don't want to pay in American Dollars or Euros (Obviously). I see that the g2play.net keys are not getting banned, but is there another place I can either pay Canadian or just buy a serial for cheap?

I had the same problem for a while when trying to create a team for the multiplayer leagues.

I think sometimes the Cyanide server/ISP shits itself, and you just need to wait for 30-60min while it gets up and running again.

Help me decide the name for my new Tzeentch theme (not that it matters much in the game) Chaos team, so far name idea I've got are:

    The Architects of Fate
    The Blackishmoor Ravens
    The Pittspurn Screamers/Flamers/Schemers
    The Tzeentchian Niners

Another idea was the "Changers" based off the San Diego Chargers, but I couldn't figure out a suitable way to bad-punnery San Diego.

Could probably get away with calling them the IC Changers for the Inevitable City Changers...

There is already the Reikland Reavers and I'm sure there are Praag, Talabecland, and other Empire locale translations.

Is there a dummy league channel that you guys hang out in? I've been playing mostly pubbies, and they are....bad. Arguably worse than the AI, which usually at least stands its players up before trying a block at a disadvantage in strength.

Edit: Also, I noticed what might be a bug last night- when you push a player onto the ball with a block, the player makes an attempt to pick up the ball. According to the LRB the ball should bounce, no?

according to the LRB I do believe this is the case however I also think in the current edition of this game howevdr they decided to change that to see how it works and if anyone likes/dislikes that.

Honestly I couldn't care less for anyone except for skaven.... dirty theiving bastards...Also Kafka if give me a time for a game ahead of time like Saturday morning at the latest I can schedule a game in etc.

It's one of my campaign promises to never turn down a game unless something drastic is preventing me from getting the game in.

I am Australian time, and can't really play saturday evenings. I play my time mornings which I think translates into your time friday night? And i think that is where the problem is. Most people (like myself) don't play games on a friday/saturday night, which is what translates into my saturday/sunday mornings when I can play. Similarly during the week, I can't play the mornings due to work. A friend pointed me in the direction of a BB league for australia, so if I can't get a game in this weekend with any of you guys, I will try and join that one.

I've been on less than usual lately, but mainly because I have seen virtually nobody from the league on for the past week. After checking and waiting for a little bit I usually end up logging out and playing some TF2.

Almost none. Possibly the previously mentioned situation in which a player pushed back onto the ball attempts to pick it up rather than immediately rolling for scatter. Lack of inducements in general play beyond star players, extra apothecaries, extra rerolls, and bribing the ref. Overall it's a very good translation of the tabletop game, and LRB 5.

There should be an option for both teams to get 100k each or something, just so potions and everything are more widely used. At least in my 1p games it seems like I never get to buy anything and the opponent always gets stuff.

Well, they didn't have star players available in the public league until the last patch of less than a week ago, so hopefully we'll get the other inducements patched in the same way.

I will definately be buying this. Reading the rule book makes me so nostalgic. It sounds like in the original game they made some teams weaker on purpose to give veteran players a handicap.

Ie. Goblins. They are a super cool team, but could they ever hold up against one of the more strait forward teams?

Goblins are the worst team in the game (Until Halflings). However, they do have a few things to their advantage: They can hire two trolls with the option of a super-troll star player. They're also the masters of playing dirty: You can pack a chainsaw, ball and chain, and pogo stick to help even the odds.

That said, they die very easily.

If nobody else is up for it, I'd willing to give it a go. That said, we'd probably need to extend the current season by 1 week or so - my wife's grandmother had a heart attack last night and I'm trying to comfort my wife and needing to step in and manage her parents' psychiatric practice for a few days while they spend time with her/at the hospital.

If someone else wants to step up in the meantime, that would be most awesome. If not, I'd be able to do whatever needs to be done in a few days/week or so.
