Internet works, then slows down, then stops

I gave my old computer to my sister who is trying to use it on a different pinternet provider (out in the boonies). It worked fine for me but she says that it works great for a minute, starts slowing down, and then the internet doesn't work at all. I assume that the cycle repeats when the computer restarts. And ideas? Thanks

i don't see how that could be the problem if I never had that problem when I used the computer

Is she computer literate? As in, does she know how to avoid spyware? If not, I'd clean that sucker up and see if it makes a difference.

I just gave it to her. Unless hundreds of spywares decided to hit that computer the minute she plugged it in, it's some sort of network card filter problem, I assume

Did you do a format before you gave it to her? Because a fresh install of Windows lasts 4-8 minutes of typical Internet browsing before being infected with hundreds of pieces of spyware. I wish I was making this up - but I've seen the actual study of it. It's ridiculous how fast IE can pick up bugs.
