So two days ago I found my copy of pokemon red from when I was eight

I'm 11 hours in, chillin' in Lavender town. My Wartortle is level 30, and I have a crack team of a Vileploom, Raticate, Graveler, and Machop who I'm trying to evolve into a Machoke

I forgot how goddamn awesome pokemon was in the intervening decade or so since I last played it

Right now I'm trying to decide if my Voltorb is worth keeping around. I used him to light up Rock Tunnel, but I don't have an electric pokemon, so I reckon I could teach him thunder wave and use him to counter water-type stuff

I hear there's like a billion pokemon now though

    The only ones that truly matter are the first 150. Partially because I never heard of the rest, but also because fuck you the first game(s) was the best and will always be so.

    and that box in its larger plastic outerbox
    in toys r us

    back in 4th freakin grade

    then my friend gave me blue for my birthday so it didn't matter! i let my brother play that one though.

    Ditch him for Jolteon, cause Jolteon is badass.

    Also, even if you were to keep Voltorb, you'd have no way of erasing Flash, since there was no way to delete HM moves back in Red and Blue.

    Yeah, I'll keep him around until I find a Jolteon, or possibly switch him out for a ghost type from pokemon tower

    Speaking of which, I can't remember what the best way to approach pokemon tower is. I have lots of water/rock/fighting moves around, and my badass Vileploom, but not much else

    My pokemon red was stolen along with my gameboy color when I was at bible camp.

    I now have platinum and damn it I can't get all the pokemon I want without owning every game before it. :(

    I put so many hours into Red, Yellow and Gold. My Tyranitar in Gold was a God. All those stupid Dark Pokemon making my Mewtwo and Alakazam cry all the time.

    Raticate is my backup for "if I absolutely have to make something dead quick"

    Hyperfang + quick attack is great for plant type pokemon

    For fire and stuff I prefer my Graveler because he is retardedly good with dig and mega punch

    I was such a goddamn Pokelitist. I didn't have any room on my team for pokemon that didn't seem legendary. IIRC I had Zapdos, Articuno, Mewtwo (or Alakazam before I got him), Blastoise, Dragonite, and I think Farfetch'd for Fly and Cut.

    I played the shit out of Red and Yellow, and I played Silver but then stopped at some gym leader late in the game. I haven't bothered with pokemon since.
