My keyboard is in french or something

when I hit certain keys like ' I get an "e" with a slash on top. How do I get it to work like a normal english keyboard?

    Are you sure none of the keys are depressed/sticking, like the option key or anything?

    I'm assuming this just started happening recently.

    Make sure your system is set to the US English keyboard layout. For some reason other keyboard layouts, namely Canadian English, generate accented letters instead of slashes and question marks and whatnot.

    Nah, in English-speaking Canada, across 3 provinces, I don't think I've never encountered any computer with settings other than US English.
