    We need some PC love.

But the PC version still gets patched, and has a ton of people playing it still.

But it doesn't run properly on the most recent version(s) of Windows. On 7, the colors in WA are messed up if Explorer.exe is running, which it usually is.

I'll be buying W2A on PC to have a Worms game that will run without problems.

I had a recent LAN where everyone was running Vista or Windows 7 Beta/RC and we played WA (version 3.6.29.0, released in 2008) just perfectly.

Six players with like eight worms was just fucking awesome. I had a single worm in sudden death and I finished the entire other team with one awesome cluster grenade from the across the map. I'm so pro you guys don't even know.

Fun game, but it's dumb as hell that when my partner drops in a 2v2 game that I can't control his worms. It basically means I might as well drop and take the loss right then.

Also if you do a 3 player forts match it just makes a 2v1.

As in, 8 v 4. It doesn't even cut them down to two worms each.

Alright, I'm ordering WA from their site, gonna arive tomorrow.

They apparently added all the shit from WWP to the newest update of WA, which works on Windows 7.

Somebody wanna get a server up tomorrow? Put MapThief and all the old utils in the OP?

Okay I'm done with ranked games.

I've only lost twice in my all games, both just now. Why?

Forts. I start with two guys right next to the water, and two fucking oil drums right next to them. He get first go. 2v4.

Next game..forts again. I start with 3 guys on the fucking beach, and an oil drum next to them. I blowtorch inside, he blowtorches inside. I shoot from the back using the wind to curve it, I miss but hit a mine which goes into the water and explodes.

What happens then? Well the mine bugs in a big way, a huge hole appears where my two guys on the beach were. They have both died, apparently from spontaneous combustion. Fuck this shit.

    GOD DAMMIT!!!! GAH

    Mission 29:

Got all the way to the end. A few worms left on their side, 2 on mine. Sudden death comes. One of mine goes down, but I strategically hunt the rest of theirs. I get to their last worm and hit him with a bazooka. I win, right? Wrong, I accidentally hit the jump button, which since I was against something sends me backwards, and I take 3 damage, and LOSE... GOD DAMMIT.

    NR should always be unlimited.

I'm so annoyed I lost the first one, I had a perfect plan and then I lost two worms in a row to dodgy controls/big fat UI covering my worm. No idea why you can't zoom the camera in/out in vertical levels.

So I know that many of you want to play full wormage, so if you're having any problems doing the first 30 campaigns (which will give you enough points for everything regardless of how many of the super challenges you complete) I've got a few tips.

    Challenge 29:
Don't teleport to the top parts of the cheese at the start of the map; if you have to, teleport to the 2nd and 3rd from the top.

Use the fact that you have only two worms to your advantage: blowtorch through and kill the worms on the sides as soon as possible. This should be easy given the environmental hazards.

Remember to retreat back into safety once you've fired every shot. These level worms will throw grenades into foxholes rather than bazooka, and they can't curve those with the wind.

If you want to get a worm into a good shooting position that's a bit too far from cover, USE THE REPEL ELECTROMAGNET. Unless an enemy worm is right next to you, they'll skip their turn rather than shoot at you, or even better, take the shot and backfire.

To defeat worms on the top without using expensive items, use your bazooka or something similar to blast the ground out from the worms on the ledges. Avoid destroying the cheese from the middle since they'll use that to grenade you out of existence.

Bide your time this way until you get the super sheep and airstrike. Avoid using the buffalo of lies unless you're absolutely sure your other worm is safe.

Remember: you're practically invincible if they can't get a grenade to your position and you're standing near an electromagnet. The ideal places are of course the covered areas where there are initially a couple of flanking worms. Never go on top for anything but a coup de grace.

    Challenge 30:
I'm sure you know that you have to jump one worm off the ledge so his suicide bomb will knock off the sentry and have your other worm just fall off the other ledge to collect the other utility crate. I like to destroy the sentry on the left to save time. Have your third worm fall off the sentry destroyed side to collect the other crate, equip ninja rope if you haven't already, you know the drill.

backflip off the sphere and ninja rope on the side, extend down and make sure you're swinging toward the sphere when you launch your next ninja rope. A good rule of thumb for the less skilled is that you'll fire a rope on the side that your original rope was leaning. If you're nervous, once you get near the bottom of the sphere, you can swing left and right gently and launch your next rope at the apex of your swing without pressing any direction. Inch your way down to the corner where there's a hole leading straight to the center. Now, if you try what you've been doing, your rope won't latch by the time you fall in the drink.

    So here's what you do:

Extend the rope so you're almost touching the water.

Swing to build gentle momentum so your rope begins curving around the corner.

Time your release and reshoot at the point that the rope has curved around the corner / your worm is already in the hole. Bear in mind that you have to do it fast, because hitting the side of the hole when not attached to the wall is death.

If you did it right, you should have a rope about halfway up the column. You can either chance your skills at vertical ninja jumping, or you can do it the cheap way: build swing momentum, shorten the rope all the way so you begin to bounce around one spot, and quickly extend. This will shoot you off in a pretty much random direction, and hopefully that direction will be up.

Now you can access all parts of the center, so try collecting the crate.

Now comes the hard part. You have to protect yourself from your weapon, so walk all the way to a side of the center hole. Choose the drill and press as hard as you can against the wall, use the drill and never stop pressing to the side. Once you've got yourself nested, use the weapon.

    Good luck.

Sometimes it feels like so many people exploit the wierd Ninja rope physics. I had a guy do a 13 second hand stand at max legnth of rope before swining. Its just the fact that it completely ignores physics that bugs me.

On the other side though in the vertical maps the concrete donkey is the greatest thing ever. Fuck the Armageddon weapon I want 15 of these :D

this is some of the best 800 MS points I've spent. I liked the original worms but the new one seems really solid. I need to work through and unlock all the weapons first and then some of the sets of stuff.

There shall be full wormage for the rest of the summer.

Wish I had a platinum SA account so I could search the archives for the Worms Fail Pile thread. With the map made entirely out of mine sprites. Also it had a lot of mines.

Question! When playing local multiplayer, do both sides have access to the weapons unlocked by the hosting gamertag, or does the second player only have access to weapons that s/he has personally unlocked? The peace in my household depends on the answer to this question.

I don't know but a game or two of crazy crates should provide you with an answer.

Also for mission 30 just grab the rope and rope around the planet, you can go past the sentries safely if you're quick enough.

Man you haven't seen the half of it, the rope is a lot harder to use with a controller than the keyboard. It is intentional though, the rope has been like that since the beginning. It's probably the most important item to master.

I just tested it and you only need unlock them once (on the host).

I did a local match vs the metatag account and picked up a holy hand grenade for that team, which is one of the 5 unlocked weapons.

Yeah, you can make a game mode with random landmine timers.

Yeah, but the host has to make a gamemode that gives ammo for unlocked weapons. You can get any weapon from crates no matter what the gamemode.

Be aware, though, that you can only set the delay for those weapons for a max of nine turns, making sudden death pretty pointless.

I also love how much a crapshoot Armageddon is. I had two worms close together in the open air on the edge of the arena and my opponent dug all three of his worms in, only to have the armageddon he used backfire and kill all of his worms

I'll go and and the PA gamertag now, my username is my gamertag.
