Ok, all of my flight gear, my stick, throttle, pedals and TrackIR are all set back up.
God knows it going to take me a while to get used to the choppers again.
pfff FLIGHT GEAR. real men fly choppers with KBAM, and pray there isnt any AA on the entire map
Or, for that matter, any helicopters. Anywhere.
...or shoulder-launched rockets.
Really anything more complicated than a 4-wheel drive jeep.
Even doing that with the KBAM is asking for trouble. I have a real bad habit swerving into trees when driving humvees just because the ramp between 'slight turn' and 'full wheel lock' is so rapid.
Yeah, that's true. I actually drive most land vehicles with my foot pedals, as ridiculous as that sounds. Since you use them to handle primary turret rotation (though not precise aiming naturally), it was a short jump to just using them to steer in general.
I was having fun today until that whole parachute bullshit got thrown into the mix. Hopefully now I that I have TS I can get in on more of that organized stuff.
Yeah the sidemissions were a lot of fun, I didn't dig the armor map much, besides having older scripts, the fucking AI has laser cannons on it's armored vehicles.
edit: Actually, is the Op4 server up? It doesn't seem to show up. Other ones like ShackTac still show up, so I'm not entirely certain the problem is on my end.
Yeah, I'm checking that out now. I'm on their (your, I guess) post about it on the forums. Is ACE deliberately not on that list? Or does that not count?
edit: Nevermind, I think I found the problem. Unsigned version of duala. Should have that fixed in a minute.
I just left ACE off the list because it's an ACE server. We're still running it, so you still need @ACE, @ACEX, and @CBA loaded, and you can also use @ACEX_SM if you wish.
Make sure you didn't put any addons into your default addons folder that you forgot about. There should be 53 .pbo and 53 .bisign files for a total of 106.

Is there a designated noob server/time? I don't want to jump in and screw things up.

Strikor and the op4 guys are pretty noob friendly. I played a little with them, and asked and did lots of retarded things, and they didn't yell at me or anything.

I'm Sandbag. It was my PA Joe name. I would have switched it to pollo or something, but I switched the controls up, and haven't remapped them to a new profile yet.

Alright, so after a bit of playing around with ACE2, there are a couple things I can't seem to figure out.
First off, I don't seem to get any custom dialog options with the different items, like the Spotter Scope or Kestrel. Why can't I use these?
Also, editing my ace_clientside_config.hpp doesn't seem to do anything. I tried making it so VO wasn't muted, brass should show up, and added my profile name so I can use the wearables and none of them are working.
PS: I used Six Updater to get everything, so yeah.
Did you try hitting the right windows key to do ace stuff? I think that's the default key. The other stuff, sorry, but I've got no idea how to work it.
Man after reading that ShakTac basic guide I'm kind of intimidated by this game now.
Hi5 intimidated buddy! I may test the multiplayer waters tonight, though.
It's not just the community too, but the game mechanics and level of modding apparently recommended. I mean, sniping can involve a wind meter. I have no idea how to use a wind meter!
You really don't need anything to snipe. Just shoot at the target, see where the bullets are landing and adjust accordingly. The AI usually freezes in place when it starts getting shot at and goes prone, which ironically makes them easier to hit because the easiest thing to adjust for is the bullet drop.
It's really not a hard game. Even the chopper flying is easier than in any battlefield game once you get the controls down.

Is there a mod for this?
Oh and can anyone tell me if it's possible to accurately fire artillery now?

Damn
I've wanted to get this for the longest time, now there's this great deal on it and the expansion and I can't justify spending the money right now
The Shacktac guide might be intimidating, but you don't need to know 100% of it to play. Just know the basics, like don't open fire until told to when playing in a group doing tactical operations.
I gotta give props to the incidents of friendly fire in this game.
I go in alone, thinking I'm this super spec ops soldier that is going to take corner by corner with my silenced g36, but then I hear this thunderous explosion around me and as I fall to the ground I hear the whine of an A10 flying away.

You need to know it when playing with ShackTac. That said, we don't expect people to know it verbatim when they join the group, and you choose your level of leadership within the group (to a degree), so somethings in there you may never put into practice.
Our missions are pretty varied, and we do have enough people that the majority of our Saturday sessions are Adversarials instead of Co-ops. For the majority of our missions a lot of the vehicle information isn't needed. You're unlikely to be driving a tank every day.

Sure. I'm hoping everything still works.

Also, make sure you don't have ACEX_PLA loaded.
edit: Did they ever add a way to add clan tags without making an entirely new profile?
