I've seen a few of them on the Op4 server, but I can't really recall if they're douches or not when there. I remember 2 or 3 guys who just loved making offensive remarks and being borderline racist, but I don't remember what clan they were from.
To be fair most of the 506th members are alright its just a few that are in the admin position and probably haven't been in charge of anything since they were group leader of a 4th grade art project.
and they probably got a F on the project for accusing classmates of cheating whilst they were participating in said massive amounts of cheating.
Do custom enemy difficulty and bump the AI skill way down. I think I have mine around 0.35 and it seems fine. They aren't especially accurate at range, but they CAN still hit you, and they will mess you up in close quarters.
So the armory is pretty entertaining. I'm a dog and the challenge is that poachers are coming for me and I have to hide until the wild game officers (or whoever) come to save me.
I admit, I put it on Veteran. What should I put it on?
I usually play on Regular. I think not having crosshairs is dumb, since I'm completely unable to hip fire without them, but even then it's super inaccurate.
I'll try bumping the AI up to Veteran difficulty to see what happens.
I've been looking at this on Steam and am interested, as long as there's PAers playing. Otherwise I don't see it being much fun.
Edit: I lack self control.. I bought it. Well, here's hoping there's still an active community! And if not it looks like there's plenty of ways to make one's own fun.
I wanted to get this game from day 1, but never got around to it. I wanted to go hardcore and get a TrackIR and everything ...
Listening to the sound mod clips on YouTube have and whatnot are making me want to pick up the game, even though I probably won't have the time to really get good at it. What to do ...

I still play on the Op4 server but I haven't seen another PAer on there in awhile.
The Steam version is fine for mods. The only difference is a Steam-specific exe and I've yet to see a case where that makes a difference. The big difference between retail and Steam is that Steam takes its sweet ass time with the updates, to the point of sometimes not releasing them at all. Fortunately you can still use the official beta patches which bypass Steam entirely.
For such a great game, it sure does have a tough time staying afloat on here.
For any surviving PA Joe members, the forumites at Rock Paper Shotgun are having a big arma bash today. We should crash their party, since I guess anyone that still plays this plays with other groups anyway. Anyone up for some shooting, today?
I hope people are still playing this in February when I get my new computer and can play it. I was left drooling over that ShackTac guide; if people really do play like that, man that sounds like a lot of fun.
I'd send Dyslexci an email but I don't know if I have the amount of free time the page seems to imply is required.
That's a common concern. What kind of free time do you have?
Most of my free time is during the day during the week, and I have a couple puppies that need supervised and taken out at random intervals. And I have additional hobbies too 8-)
That and I'm really shy about voice chat. Maybe I'll send an email and see what happens. I've read the TTP2 several times (actually have it open right now) and watched a ton of Dys's videos and I'm really interested in the way they do things.

Yeah, send an email. You can always get more information that way. Primarily we play on Saturday nights, and we have sessions on Wednesday nights to get new joins up to speed.

I've been wanting to pick up and play this for ages, but it never, ever seems to come up on Steam sales. Any chance this will come up on sale during one of the imminent holiday Steam sales?

So it is, thanks.
The game runs pretty well actually, I am surprised.
Also, it has WAY too many controls, many seemingly replicated. They need to pare that shit down.
What difficulty do you play on?
I ran into a house and closed the doors.

Where do the PA players meet up?
Edit: also, what is the version I should patch to? I understand that 1.52 isn't available for Steam users yet?

They have a pretty good community going there.

I ask because I've seen some games have issues with mods/patches with the digital version, but not the retail version.

Here's a thing with the details.
You've just got to merge the data from vanilla Arma 2 with it, if you still want to use the content from it.
I'm kind of glad I didn't buy it over Steam for that reason. It's a minor inconvenience, but one nonetheless.
edit: Clarify: I bought the combined version on Steam and it came as two downloads.
Yeah, I'm definitely going to try to find such a group when I can actually run the game.
If only there were a shacktac like group.
Shactac disbanded? They were who I was going to try first.
I was being sarcastic.

We're still going strong.
Wonderful. Hopefully I will see you folks in February.
