yeah, that really sucks. Their alternative to google's marketplace seems to be terrible in every way possible
Well, I'll keep a lookout, if Gameloft offers a fully supported copy of Dungeon Hunter on the N1 I'll probably still pick it up. Hopefully I won't have to root my phone to be able to play it, haha
I want to support Gameloft for making cool android games, but no demos, no refunds and fuck you if anything ever happens to your phone, really make it hard to.
That response made it sound like you just can't download it again. If they're just emailing you the .apk to begin with, is there something keeping you from just copying it?

Might it require an online activation?
Yeah probably. I know all of the Swype apks on the net now do not work because of checks to thier server.
Ugh. If it really is true DRM and not just "we won't let you redownload it," then screw that. Sucks to see that from one of the only promising game developers for Android.
Edit: It looks like the folks over at Phandroid.com have confirmed that you cannot reinstall from the original .apk, so there is some sort of check in place. Lame, but it's one less purchase I'll have to make.

Hm, I know this one from xda has been working for me so far. Previously I was logging in and redownloading from the swype servers every time I rebooted my machine. Very annoying.
Dungeon Hunter downloads a ton of data from Gameloft the first time you boot it up, so Gameloft definitely has that avenue to prevent you from copying it (It sounds like the pirates have circumvented that though...)
Looks like I'm caught in the war between pirates and incompetent bureaucrats again. Man, first the ebook shenanigans from Barnes and Noble and now this, curse you DRM!
Speaking of facebook. Does anyone else have the wrong photos sync? For a long time when ever my sister would call I'd get a pic of some random chick from highschol. There were a few others that were off, too, but this was the most noticable.
Yeah, I get some random guy from uni showing up whenever T-Mobile text with billing information. I don't even have his number!

yup
the real shame is that when folks refuse to buy their drm, they'll blame it on android users not wanting games

Alright has anyone on the bell network have a Samsung Galaxy?
I'm just curious as to whether or not someone has got something higher then 1.5 on the device
I've tried to google an answer but all I get is people complaining.
Gameloft requires that your phone be plugged into your computer via sync cable while play in order to back up your game saves via truck and deliver you the finest series of tubes DLC. If you unplug your phone from your computer while a Gameloft game is still installed, your phone will start sending automatic drunk-texts to family members until it is plugged in again. This is for your safety.
It keeps track of whose turn it is to pay for a meal. If you eat out a lot with friends and don't want to quibble over exact bills, you can save a lot of time by having only one person write the check.
It also eliminates debt cycles on every payment, and lets you view what everyone owes everyone else. Also it's free of course.

Hey, that's pretty slick
In unrelated news, I tried to use the voice recognition to punch "meal share" into the search box since I'm the one remaining human incapable of using a cap touch onscreen keyboard, and it picked up the following words (in order of frequency) when I said "meal":
real
new york (wt silly goose???)
mcneil
gmeil

That's awesome, man.
I wonder if maybe we could get an "Apps by PA forum members" section added to the first post. Maybe with app name, PA forum username, and a QR image link to the app. That would be pretty sweet.
Thanks everyone! I was actually a bit surprised how easy it was to get it on the market. The android eclipse plugin will create a certificate store and sign your app, then you register an account for $25, upload your .apk with some screenshots and descriptions, then a few seconds later it's searchable by anyone in the Market. This is in contrast to my Firefox extension that took months for them to approve.

A bit too simple for the android market I'd say. An app where you can easily select who paid how much for who would be useful - right now it assumes everyone orders for the same price (or you always equally divide the bill) every night.
In which case it may be an idea to keep logs, where you can give a name for each event and look them up again later.
(gave it 5 stars anyways to counter the goose who only gave 1)
Yeah the whole point of the app is that you use it when you don't care exactly how much everyone's bill is, or exactly who paid what when. If you're willing to let statistics even everything out over time, you can avoid having to punch in locations and bill amounts. Though I agree that having a full-fledged BillMonk type app would be useful as well.

Ugg, OpenGL ES is a pain in the dick to work with. I can't get my orthographic projection to work at all (though this code works fine with raw OpenGL on the windows side). No GL errors are being thrown (as checked with glGetError), but 2D colored triangle just isn't showing up. Time to keep plugging away.

Have you tried switching frontFace() mode from CCW to CW or vice versa? Not sure if that's applicable to your situation but it took me a week to find a problem with that :P
So I know it was talked about within the thread but I couldn't find a definitive answer on whether you can tether a Droid to your computer. Also, is rooting required or can you simply download a program?

I actually have back face culling turned off. So that shouldn't effect it.
Hey Endy, I dunno if it's just my phone, Nexus One running 2.2, but Meal Share force closes every single time I push who's paying.
Oh kick ass I can see the stack trace on the developer site:

Do you have any people checked? I think what may be happening is that it's trying to pick a random person with Random.nextInt(numPeopleChecked), and when it's 0 it's crashing.

maybe this is the right thread to ask..
how about battery life for android phones? I heard the HTC desire has a pretty awful battery life, does the SonyEricsson Xperia X10 do it better? Anyone have the chance to compare those two?

Yeah, that looks pretty good. Not sure I want to subject myself to such Draconian DRM on my phone though :?

Search for "Meal Share" on the marketplace.

I'm running the Jrummy remix of Cyanogen at a cool 1GHz. It's pretty nice. 7 screens, helix launcher, better music widget, themes.
