Good Folk?

Like the title says, I'm looking for some good folk music of pretty much any variety (I prefer slightly more laid back/ bluesy music, but I'll give anything a shot). I've gotten into it through a strange trail of musical paths though I don't really know where to start now that I'm here.
Already have everything by them, great band though!
(I guess I should give a quick rundown of what I have... Some of these I'm fairly sure aren't "folk" but if Iron & Wine is folk I guess I'll add these others just in case
Iron & Wine
Damion Rice (though I'm not a big fan)
The Low Anthem (Really love their newest)
Nick Drake (though I'm not sure if he's really "folk")
M. Ward (though he only brushes up against folk now and then)
Murder by Death (strangely has a lot of folk influences depending on the song, or so its seems)
Fleet Foxes
Jose Gonzales
Jessica lea Mayfield
Horse Feathers
The Dodos (another pretty "ify" folk selection, but I'll throw them in anyway)
Andrew Bird (perhaps a bit more blue grass...)
(my apologies if I have any folk affecianodos screaming "that's not folk." I'm new to the genre and ready to learn )
Andrew Bird has absolutely nothing to do with blue grass. I don't know if "folk" is the right word for what you've listed but we could argue about genres all day and get nowhere so here are a couple suggestions
i dont even like matisyahu and i dont know why i picked this username

I listed andrew bird as bluegrass because some of his early stuff centered around fiddle solos (it reminded me of the bluegrass they play at Silver Dollar City, so take that as you will)- but he certainly seems to have shifted his music into new territory.
But, I'll look into what you've suggested, thankyou
edit: And like you said, we could argue about genre's all day. I'll take pretty much anything you guys suggest, even if its some kinda newfangled heavy metal screamo folk.
Though, I would definately like some more traditional folk as well.
I don't know if this stuff fits here, because I've never heard of any of the stuff mentioned in this thread. But I've always heard Steeleye Span referred to as folk:
Probably more bluegrass than folk, but what about Nickel Creek?

@matisyahu: I gave both bands a listen and really like them, thanks!
@ManonvonSuperock: Not much And damn she has an interesting voice in that first video- but I think I'd get used to it. The second video is pretty damn good though. I'm going to look for more of their stuff to see what i think.
@Steevl: I really dig Steeleye span. They give me a little bit of a Gentle Giant vibe but they're almost a consentration of what I love about GG and without the things I started to find a little tedious in that band (I'm not sure if that sounds like a good thing, but its supposed to be )
Sky clad is definately interesting- I didn't realize there actually was folk metal. Pretty good though, thanks!
Yeah, I've seen them a few times between 2002 and now, and they have an ever-changing lineup. It's definitely good old American porch music full of dick jokes.
Filk is a musical culture, genre, and community tied to science fiction/fantasy fandom. The genre has been active since the early 1950s, and played primarily since the mid-1970s.
I'm a huge fan of Harry and the Potters. I wouldn't consider them terribly amazing, but they are wonderfully fun and enjoyable.

rocketship is on the right track. Doc Watson is an essential.
John Hartford is another, though you'll find it a total bitch to find much by him now that he's dead. (just wouldn't quit the cigarettes)
more contemporary, Crooked Still is probably right down your alley. I liked Shaken by a Low Sound the best, but you might like Still Crooked if you're into the laid-back stuff.
Probably more bluegrass than folk, but what about Nickel Creek?
I was going to suggest Nickel Creek as well. They did some stuff with Glenn Phillips (former frontman for Toad the Wet Sprocket, if anyone remembers them besides me) that is quite excellent, if you can find it. I'm not sure it's up on iTunes or Amazon's music service or whatever.
Beirut isn't in the same vein, it's more gypsy folk/indie than anything else, but you could give it a shot. If you like that, try out DeVotchka, a lot of their stuff has European folk influences.
First let me say I'm really lose when I describe genres, so I know some people might not say these artists are strictly straight up folk but I think you'll enjoy them so that's all that matters.

I guess that's a good summary of their first two albums.
Also, Skyclad has been one of my favorite folk metal bands:

Martin's voice is kind of off in this version, but it's still an OK live rendition of it.
My Backloggery
But seriously, aside from bob dylan, Ry Cooder is really great,
and your list is lacking in sufjan stevens.

Calexico. They did "In The Reins" with Iron and Wine, and are really fantastic.
Doc Watson. You should punch yourself for not having any Doc Watson records already. The definition of classic folk.
Dock Boggs. See above.
Bruce Springsteen. Well, pretty much only Nebraska and The Seeger Sessions, but the other albums are pretty good rock albums
Pete Seeger. Again, classic. Pretty much invented modern folk protest music with....
Woody Guthrie. Some of it's not really that great just due to the recording quality, but great from a historical aspect

check out Sean Hayes and Brett Dennan
Seans newest album is a bit popier than his others which i think are better.
