Other retail games to look for:
    - Trauma Center: New Blood (Has co-op, but said to be a hard game.)

    - Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Was out for Wii launch, remake of 1st Trauma Center DS game, has extra missions. You can fake-force co-op by having one person control the Nunchuk and another control the Wiimote.)

    - Geometry Wars Galaxies: Has both competitive and co-operative multiplayer, 60+ levels, and Retro Evolved.

    - Blast Works: SHMUP where you collect the ships you destroy and use their own bullets against them and as a temporary shield. Has co-op. Easy to get into, hard to complete to get all of the unlockable cheats and goodies (like some Kenta Cho games). Create your own levels, ships, enemies, bullets, objects, and share them online through www.blastworksdepot.com

And what about Guitar Hero/Rock Band? Just don't get Rock Band 1 for Wii. If you get Rock Band, get #2.
And have you thought about getting a Gamecube controller and memory card? Because you can totally get Gamecube games now. There's good stuff to find there as well.

    Downloadable co-op goodies:
Bubble Bobble, Super C, Contra III, Tetris Party

Downloadable multiplayer but not co-op goodies:
Blades of Steel, Street Fighter II Turbo, Bomberman 93 (or maybe 94 is better? I only have 93......actually does 93 have Team multiplayer? Ugh, it's been a while.)

Have you thought about the much more likely reason that people just don't really care about pinball anymore?

Or that people that do care about pinball don't really care about virtual pinball?

I have a weird habit of learning a whole lot about games that I'll never buy; this is one of them.

What I've found out about it is that it is quite possibly one of the best pinball videogames that exist with superb physics and accurate and detailed tables and excellent controls, based on really fun 'classic' Williams pinball tables.

If I were a fan of pinball, I'd buy this in a heartbeat.
I actually picked this up a few weeks ago at Target, and it's been the only game in my Wii ever since

its a very well done pinbot and whirlwind, I swear these feel really close to the real thing. Its awesome.

And all of that was just on PAGE ONE!

The developers of Pinball Hall of Fame collaborated with the people from Williams that made the actual tables in order to get every nuance of each table as exact as possible in videogame form. The combination of that level of detail with the Wii controls results in the closest thing you can get to playing those tables. If you can't play the real machines, this literally is the next best thing.

Oh, and one more recommendation: Mario Strikers Charged. How did I forget that one?

I highly recommend The Conduit, Metroid Prime 3, and Wario Land: Shake It. The Conduit is a really fun FPS and so is Metroid. Wario Land: Shake It is a very well done 2D platformer with some challenging boss fights (the last boss has be stuck).

Also, I recommend downloading Evasive Space and Adventure Island: The Beginning for WiiWare. Evasive Space is challenging and enjoyable and involves using the Wiimote to point and guide a spaceship and Adventure Island: The Beginning is a fun and somewhat challenging 2D platformer.

Wario Shake It, Klonoa, and De Blob are all great platformers to get in addition to Mario Galaxy.

These games are probably cheap now, too, esp. since Klonoa was $30 brand new.

There are quite a lot of good Wii games if you know what to look for.

The Conduit is on my list, but not very close to the top. Metroid Prime is, but I'm waiting for that Trilogy box set or whatever that has the first 2 with Wiimote controls. I'm probably picking up Deadly Creatures tomorrow, since my local EB has it for $40au brand new.

I looked around today and couldn't find a single USB ethernet adapter, Nintendo or otherwise. Crap. I'll have to keep looking.

As someone who has never played a Zelda game ever, and got Twilight Princess to remedy that - TP makes an awful first impression. I was ready to give up out of boredom in the first hour. Then I got to the Twilight part, and damn, t got so much better.

edit - games are going to be bought slowly, since in Australia Metroid, Mario Galaxy, and a few other 'old' Wii games I want are fucking still $100au.

Gamecube games are like rockinghorse shit in Australia. And I'm not in the mood to find shit on ebay or anywhere else. For the moment, I'll stick with Wii games. Also, I never said I didn't like TP, I just said it made an awful first impression. If they cut the 'find my woven basket, catch that cat a fish' shit at the start, it's first impression would have been much better.

I bought a shit ton of wii game yesterdayAnd they're all really good fun. Well, the ones I tried properly.

    Resident evil Umbrella Chronicles
Its a lightgun game but really slow, not the usual fast paced stuff. Also seems really tactical with the weapon usage, you have to be conscious of the amount of ammo you use. Not played past the first level so not enough to pass final verdict.

    The Conduit
I never played any FPS's before on the Wii so this was my first foray. Holy shit it's good. The amount of tweaking is fantastic too. It looks decent as well with cool looking gizmo's and shit. Highly recommend.

    Metroid Prime Corruption
There's voices..... in a metroid game!? It looks good and I love the non-combat type controls. Another high recommendation.

    Tenchu: SOMething Something
I forget the subtitle to this but then it's not really a tenchu game, without the open world nature of te previous titles it may as well be something else. It's good at what it does but still, could have been so much more.

    Scarface: The World is Yours
I was a huge fan of the Godfather on the Wii which was insanely good. This is almost as good as that and better in some aspects. The controls are very intuitive but I really wish they'd have kept it in first person as it all seems to run better in that view. Still, fantastic singlepayer title for the older folks.

    House of the Dead: Overkill
Oldskool lightgun game that's so much fun. Funny as hell too. My only gripe is the constant stuttering but I hear that's usually down to the individual system/ disc. Not a gamebreaker by any means though. Best lightgun game so far.

    Boom Blox Party Bash
Never played the first one so this was a complete surprise. Nice one too. If you've got kids or family members to game with then this is the game you have to have in your collection because it's designed as a party game. Obviously. My li'l niece adores this game and she hates computer games. Score one for the Wii.

Endless Ocean is one that gets better (and looks better) as you go. At the start you're just in a small reef without much going on. Lots of muddy water and open spaces with nothing. But as you go you encounter some really beautiful caves, a deep trench, ruins of various things...

    Yes and it's really fun.

Now, the story mode is just an extended tutorial with an awful boring story and bad voice acting.

But actually playing the game is great. It's less complex than the newer SimCity games, but it has a lot of what makes them great. You satisfy your people's needs by building amenities near them (within circles of influence) and evolve them to higher levels of citizenship. Pioneers need food and milk become settlers, who demand clothing shops and medicine, and so on. You can tax each level of citizen differently; pioneers are kept happy with the tax rate easier but have less money to pay you. And so on. Lots of stuff to do, sailing from island to island, building cities and farms.

Yeah, the latest firmware updates to the Wii allow for SDHC support, which goes up to 32 gigs iirc.

The latest firmware updates also allow you to install and run Channels directly from the SD card. So you can download and keep as many WiiWare games and VC games and channels as you like that you can fit onto your SD card. And you can fit a lot onto a moderately sized SD card! So it's a great feature.

Brawl is very accessible, but can be as deep as you want it to be. Easy to get into, fun for just about everyone, but if you want to get really into it, there's plenty of strategy and depth that you can sink your teeth into if you really like.

Personally, it's the "get 4 friends together and just smash each other up" game of choice for me. The controls are approachable and intuitive and the game is pretty easy to get into.

I also have a few friends who play in tournaments for it, but 99% of the time it's four of us smashing around the arenas and just having fun.

Anyway, it's throwing an error on connection test - 51420 to be precise. The only thing I can see it being is my routers IP isn't set to one of the values mentioned in the Wii manual troubleshooting. It this the likely culprit? Or are there other things that throw that particular error as well?

Not sure what the best course of action would be. How confident are you in configuring your router?

Is DHCP on? Can you set it up so the Wii is the only thing that is connected and then create a new "wired" connection in the Wii settings? Try the other Wii USB port?

The routers on those lists are wireless routers - I'm not using a wireless router, otherwise I wouldn't have bother with a LAN adapter. DHCP is on - the only thing I can see is the Nintendo guide says to set the router IP to a specific value, which mine isn't set to. I'll see if I can play around with it when I get home.

I have the official Nintendo one myself since the wireless didn't work at all during my Wii's first year (then started working...). I never had to do anything more than turn on DHCP, as far as I remember. I didn't know anything about any specific numbers you had to set it to.
