Two videogame themed movies. One Mechwarrior?

Just a quick question that I'm sure one of you can answer.

One is a film where they go into an arcade, which I believe was called Hell's Arcade or something similar. Get stuck in a game and have to get out.

Another is a Mechwarrior movie. Live action except for when they show the pilots in mechs and doing battle, in which case they use basically use Mechwarrior 2. Or so I remember. Came on Sci Fi channel all the time back in the day.

The second one wouldn't happen to be Robot Jox would it?

Looks similar, but I'm not entirely sure that's it.

Oh man, I used to freaking LOVE Robot Jox.

To Amazon I go. I bet you that movie has held up terribly over time.

    That's pretty darn close.

Also, does the first movie involve a character shooting themselves in the head, then using some weird device to say they have an extra life?

Any time someone mentions a Mechwarrior movie I assume they're talking about Robot Jox.

That may be it, but I distinctly remember either the MadCat or Loki being in it, and the flat 3D used in Mechwarrior 2.

    Ah well.

    Believe so.

I don't think i've seen the first film, however I found a link that may have some use:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_films_based_on_video_games#Films_with_plots_centered_on_video_games

There are a couple in that list that are similar to what you have described, maybe it will help the search.

Did the first film have a scene where people are being chased around an underground parking lot by horrible early 80's FX flying video game aliens/demons or something?

I know exactly what movie is the arcade game one, I'd bet, and I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. It seems like it used to come on USA Up All Night, but none of the movie titles on the list on wikipedia rung any bells.

update: Found it. Nightmares. That's certainly the one I was thinking of. Specifically the "Bishop of Battle" story, as this is a collection of short stories/movies.

Robot Jox is the best movie and I had completely forgotten about it. Thanks you guys!

It's probably the movie you want, you should go rent it to check. The rest of you should too.
