I bought this game. I put it in and played it. I have no clue what's going on.

I'm certainly having fun dying and starting the whole thing over multiple times, I'm just having trouble figuring out something to do. I wander around, talk to everyone, do the first few fetch jobs, and then a mysterious stranger (or flying object) kills me.

You need to do a total of about 13 Inklings in order to get an ending. When you look at the map screen, the exclamation points are inklings. You'll get a scene by going to a certain part of that area. Around 10-ish in, you'll get the auto, Nobunaga scene. You're pretty close after that.

I propose that besides its abysmal durability, the leek is the best weapon in the game.

Oh and if you want the Zero blunt/kill achievements best to break their sword first, take out your broken weapon and set it to blunt, then switch it and kick them on the ground when they're down. 2 achievements, 1 jerk.

Not a fan of long swords, too slow.

And am I to assume I have to get 9600+ Samurai Points in 1 game to unlock everything?

    10,000

If you want a really easy way to cheese and unlock everything in like 20 minutes, read on:

Start game on hardest difficulty you've unlocked, pull sword on farmers to scare them off, walk to Takatane. There, grab all of the radishes out of the garden. Eat one. Bring up map and select "Leave Amana". Get Vegetarian title. It's worth 490 points on Easy, and I think about 1400 on IK. Just do that a few times and you'll hit 10,000 in no time, and after you have radishes in your inventory, you don't even have to go to Takatane, just leave from where you start. Each playthrough doing that took me about 1.5 minutes.

Once you hit 10,000 points, they become worthless so don't worry about losing them from villianous acts.

For hilarity, make a couple custom swords with long blades, 0 weight, set them to ninja stance, and activate dual swords mode.

Character looks like a porcupine with blades and scabbards sticking out in every direction  Whether it's worthwhile to use is another question, dual ninja stance lacks the utility of the normal one.

I want to know what I have been doing wrong as well.

I am going for the O-Sei ending.

I have signed up for both factions. Sweet-talked the pain in the ass woman into the fields. But now when I try to trigger the ending (First overhear the spy, then get the kid to show you the dagger, then talk to Swordsman boy about Cherry blossoms). It fucks up. I can talk to the spy, then get the kid to show me the crest, but I can't talk to Swordsman boy about the Cherry Blossoms after that. The inkling never triggers.

    What have I done?

And why am I pursuing the bitch anyway. She's like 15 and my samurai is at youngest mid-20's. It feels Pedo-Bear approved.

Welcome to Japan - where they sell used panties in vending machines and have a genre called "tentacle." Pedo-bearishness is practically vanilla, by Japan standards.

Not to intrude, but I happened to get a free giveaway disc for this game labeled 'Art & Strategy of the Warring States'.

Is it a PS3 disc or something? Doesn't play in anything I have.

    I'll probably get a copy of the game proper when/if I get a PS3.

I did a playthrough trying to blunt as many people as possible. I ended up doing all of Takatane, most of the other town, what I could of the Posting Station before they ran off, and a few random people at the Guard Gate. Just from those few areas I ended up with something like 196 villanous deeds. I think I lost 9800 samurai points. Got some sweet skins to play as, though.

I let one of my friends play this. His samurai had the bald Hogan-esque head, running around mostly naked. With the swan codpiece, tank backpack, claws, and everything else he could fit. He drew his sword at every opportunity and button mashed his way through murdering every man, woman and child in sight. Or at least attempting to. After killing a few of the more important NPCs, one of the main leaders finally killed him. He ended the game with the blacksmith's hammer and -6000 samurai points.

Argh. I am so depressed right now, I don't even know how to describe it. I went on a marathon samurai binge, unlocking pretty much everything I could, gathering a massive pile of cash, buying every accessory. Then I spent forever gathering parts, crafting, and levelling up the perfect sword. It was beautiful, I named it "Sunrise" because it looked like the first light of dawn. I was very pleased with myself, and ready to finally set out to set Amana to rights. So I run over to the minstrel in Takatane to save before setting out. Fucking game froze while saving. I loaded, it's all gone. Everything. Save file's totally gone.

Unless there's some way to fix that, I'm done with this fucking game. I am so pissed right now.

edit: I had a backup on a memory card. I'm cool with this game again.

    whats an inkling?

also is bare hands a weapon class that can actually level? I've only killed a couple guys with a spear, but I learned some new moves but I've beaten down way more people with my fists and nothing new for skills has popped up

Inklings are the icons on the map that look like an exclamation point. They show where you'll get events, like cutscenes or important conversations.

You can't learn unarmed attacks by fighting, only through scrolls. Same with dual weapons, I think.

I personally have 3 save slots. The first is for my Clear saves. The second is for normal play. The third is for when I do something that might alter the game in ways I didn't intend, like killing the blacksmith.

Also, I think the records screen freeze comes from deleting a save file, so don't do that.

Because I am a sucker I just bought whatever new DLC was just put up. It was labeled as accessories, but judging from the last one it could be anything. All I know is that I can't see any difference at all.

Edit: I was perplexed enough to go to the dreaded Gamefaqs to see what was up with it. It may either be the exact same mislabeled pack that gave more costumes before or do absolutely nothing. Only thing the mouthbreathing cretins can agree on is that "M$" is certainly to blame and they should get their goddamn dollar back.
