Yeah but you can get +15 per stat in this one, and retry to see for your likings. If you're really anal about it a sword with a quality of 10 with 15+ def/atk will have 225+ on top of its base stats.
Or you could just make a dual sword setup and forego skillpoints entirely and have two swords with 100+ atk/def. Most of the unique swords I've found haven't been all that good either (some quality of 3 with single digit stats).
Gamefaqs has a list of all the unique parts/weapons you can find as well.
I've done a bunch of Inklings, mostly for the farmers and Fujimori (blue kimono dudes). The only problem is now I seem to be stuck. There's a bright green (!) inside the multi-level pagoda, but there's no guard on the second floor, and I can't get on the third floor. Am I missing the time of day or something? Who am I supposed to talk to? I just talked to blue kimono lieutenant and punk guy about the crest I found in the village, and I kept it a secret. Nobunaga hasn't appeared yet.
Well, I went back a bit and blabed to Kirae and managed to get an ending out of my current play through, as a back stabbing bastard, mwhaha.
Turned on the noble Blue Samurai and got the princess murdered. Went on to serve as Shizen's war dog against Oda.
Rule #1 of WoTS, evil pays better. Do their stuff first.
Anyway, after some investigating, I found what was holding me back was I hadn't completed enough jobs to get sufficient trust with the Fuji. I wish that was made clearer in the manual. Oh well, now I am a peace loving doormat in a loincloth who heroically slays evil doers with a garden hoe.
There are a couple of inklings that require you to have a certain standing within a group. I think Shuzen's side is the only one. Just do a bunch of jobs for them until they start greeting you when you walk by.
Easiest way to get some decent swords from story characters is to unlock instant kill, then just one shot the story character for their sword. They usually just ask "What are you doing?" and give you a chance to apologize before fighting. Save before killing and then just reload until you get the right weight and quality. Makes getting Kirie's sweet ninja sword a lot easier than trying to take him down on hard with an unupgraded Moderate Blade.
Certain inklings only appear after you've seen a certain number of them.
I know that a couple appear only after you have seen 3 or 4.
And you can join any clan and not have it really affect an ending. Most of the time, I end up joining both the Ouka and the Castle.
For anyone just starting out and looking to get a not-sucky sword quickly, when you start out tell the farmers to fuck off. Wander around Kuchigahara and you'll meet up with Shinnosuke Umemiya. Murder that shaved-head-havin' ass mo'fo' and take his Oborozukiyo which is a hell of a lot better than Moderate Blade.
I ended up allying with the villagers, but I wonder if I experienced the true villager ending.
I sacrificed myself to protect the girl heiress to the Sakurai Clan, and was remembered forever after as a hero. It also implied that the Sakurai were reinstated later.

No, that's not the "good" ending, which is ending number 1, I believe.
Yeah, I freaking love this game. Probably the best Samurai simulator ever. The graphics aren't bleeding edge, but I'm having a ton of fun.
First I played as an amoral betrayer, then as Samurai Jesus who died for the village's sins, and now I'm playing a pimp Samurai with a purple silk robe, superfluous shoulder armor and a quick draw sword.
Combat is really as hard or easy as you want to make it (there are ways to cheese through bosses like running out of range and then heavy attacking, rinse repeat), but there's a huge amount of depth if you want to get really, really good.
There's one stance, side or single I forget which, that has the first heavy attack knock up, and it's spammable, so if you time it right you can near constantly juggle enemies.
And why am I pursuing the bitch anyway. She's like 15 and my samurai is at youngest mid-20's. It feels Pedo-Bear approved.
Welcome to Japan - where they sell used panties in vending machines and have a genre called "tentacle." Pedo-bearishness is practically vanilla, by Japan standards.
You know, in the middle ages, before all this '18 is legal OR UR A PEDO', it wasn't uncommon for 40 year old guys to be marrying 12 year old girls and carrying on hanky panky to boot. That's east AND west.
Different times man.

Everyone should do a homocidal playthrough wearing the thong and the white demon mask enlarged to its maximum size.

Yes but the rest of the world grew out of that and Japan is still huddled in it's basement and staring at the children's clothing section of the Sears catalog
Also good christ after glancing through an FAQ some of the requirements to get these endings are so precise I'm getting irritated just looking at them, let alone trying to play through them
I mean, in WotS 1 or 2, it was fairly precise, but the games were short enough and simple enough that you could blow through and get the best ending or a specific ending in a decent amount of time
But this is just like, there is no margin for error, and god help you if you want to do other things during that particular playthrough. I think a few endings say you can't do any jobs to get them
The events in WOTS 3 are more lenient, imho, than the first game. At least now you can delay the events for as long as you want to and not worry about missing any you wanted to see.
Ahaha. No. The classic sign of a WOTS newbie is spamming the same weak attack three hit combo on a lieutenant class or higher. You need to do more damaging attacks against them, weak attacks are better used for interrupts.
In WOTS, your sword contains your entire move list. There are many kinds of swords/weapons. Upper, middle, lower, side stance, quick draw, ninja, spear, and dual wielding. As you obtain better swords and gain experience with them, you unlock more and more moves.
There is also a 'push pull' mechanic where you can off balance the enemy, or you can be thrown off balance. Pull beats push, push beats 'regular' blocking and 'regular' attacks beat a pull.
Plus you can create custom swords with all manner of super combos, "throws" (CQC moves that have big wind up but are unblockable and do high damage), and use the glimpse of death technique.
Basically, if you tap R1 at the moment of an enemy attack, you get a 'perfect' block and you have a split second to hit X for an instant kill. You can then continue that chain to mow through an entire army of henchmen. It doesn't work on LTs or bosses though, so you still need to learn the fighting system.
The system is as indepth as you want it to be. If you want to spam broken combos from elite swords, you can, or you can learn the system and be a god of samurai death with a garden hoe. Like DMC, it's your choice.
One extra mechanic that's shown when the blue kanji flashes in upper right corner is the non-lethal take down. When you flip your sword, you just knock enemies unconscious with the back of your blade, and you won't piss off as many people. Thus, you can play the whole game without killing anyone.
Also remember, any enemy moveset that is used against YOU, is a moveset you can also use to the same degree of proficiency. All you have to do is gank them for the sword, and then learn the moves with scrolls or XP.

Shuzen is worse, what with him being the big bad. He has a combo that does at least 1000 HP worth of damage on hard mode. Which is all your health without any upgrades. From what I've seen it's not interruptible as well.
I've decided not to cheese the game too much and settled on a maximum HP of 2000, the highest your best healing item can go.
I also just got my first legendary blade, holy shit, it's awesome now.
So if I understand it right, you can upgrade 5 times past your blade's max quality? So if you get a 3 quality blade you can go up to an 8? Plus you can use items to push the blade beyond its limit as well?
I also just created a custom Iaido blade, it's totally bitchin.
And I've only gotten four endings! Eighteen to go!
It's also, way, way, rewarding to do a 'down time' game in Instant Kill mode where you run around. Ganking everyone for their swords in one hit before they can draw, paying for a ridiculous number of upgrades and merchandise, and then murdering said vendors and getting all of your money back.
Samurai points be damned, just like in Groundhog Day, you have to be an asshole before you can be a hero.
Right, and you get a title option for that I do believe, unless the item has a custom title then I think it overrides that. Was pretty pissed off when I blew about 20k on my leek to not get the option for the +50 ATK/DEF title.

In this, good sir, you are terribly mistaken.

Option 1 when the villagers ask you if you're okay
Go outside, talk to old man
Talk to boy in rice patty
I think you have to get into Ouka clan but not do anything for em (to get the castle open you see)
Talk to boy in rice patty again
Talk to old man again
some shit like this or somethin I can't remember off the top of my head. I do know you have to pick option one at that first cutscene though.

Is this guy just terrible, or is the game really just the same 3-hit combo over and over?
