Ah, so that's what those orbs mean. That helps. And is it just me or is the parry timing really tough? I'm bad at it.
I believe they made the timing tougher, but worse comes to worse, it's still mashable. And the payoff is IMMENSE since you can basically insta-kill any group of henchies once your insta-kill mode is activated.
No one else has run into Pyramid Head yet?
I've run into weird things at night but no pyramid head. One guy slid along ground face first like a snake though and that was pretty fucked up.
Yes, there is definitely a horror element to the game. There are ghosts as well.
Blunt end attack them by hitting Select to switch blades.

It certainly captures the feel of the age of the samurai where wandering around at night isn't a good idea because holy fuck you will be raped by murderous samurai and evil demons.
I'm going through a playthrough now where I am just murdering everyone I can. Just cause. 8-)
The longer I do jobs, the more strangely self-aware the game seems. It feels exactly like the Truman Show. Like, the old lady sends me out to find her underwear over and over again. "Ok," I think, "it's just some repetitive missions, nothing sinister." Then later I meet an NPC who tells me that every night that old bitch sneaks out there and hides her underwear. She is actually out there creating missions to send me on. Why doesn't she just give me the money? Or another lady who hired a thug, and then hired a girl, and then hired me to go rescue the girl from the thug. Am I supposed to kill him? Is he still a bad guy, or does that make him my coworker?

I'm so confused.
And thats why everyone snaps eventually and has a playthrough where they just murder everyone.
So... Any word on when this will be released on Europe? I've tried looking around for a date and can't find anything.
I'm thinking of importing it, but if it's going to be ninja-released next week... I'll pass.
I looked on Play, Amazon, Game and Gamestatiopn and they dont even have a future date listed yet.
This article seems to confirm that it's coming out for Europe. But since none of the major retailers don't have it listed makes me wonder if:
A) Someone forgot to add it, and maybe it'll be releasing tomorrow and people will be like "wow shits!" It's really so far off, no one has bothered to add it.
Since shipping is not that cheap, I'd rather not to buy it if it's option a... Which is why I was hoping one of you guys had heard something. At this point even rumors have merit.
So...are there any video reviews or gameplay videos out there for this? I'm kinda interested after enjoying the first game ages ago, but I need to see it in action.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen any railroads around this game, so no more ridiculous collision traps.

Oh, wow, this game is awesome. They put alot of thought into everything you could do.
I just stormed Castle Minori alone on a new game, after unlocking Instant Kill mode. I slaughtered my way past the guards, then took out the leadership of Clan Ouka.
After killing the heads of the clan, a cut-scene occured, with all the bandits proclaiming me the new lord of the Sakurai Clan.
After that, I talked to an underling and told him that if the other clan has the balls to go up against a guy who just slaughtered a small army, then we're going to face them head-on and slaughter them like dogs.
Also, now all the former Ouka clan members bow and prostrate themselves before me whenever I get near.
I fucking love this game.
Also, if you want to unlock the outfits, heads, the secret stuff, and the new difficulties/secret options, without wasting about half a month, there's a trick you can do to increase your Samurai Points extremely quickly.
First, go raid a field full of radishes. Take all of them. Then, leave Amano and start up a new game.
Skip the cutscenes, then go down to the thugs bullying Chidori, and take a hit. After you take a hit, kill them. Once you've killed them, eat a radish and immediately go to the world map and leave Amano again.
By doing that, you automatically get the "Vegetarian" title, which will net you anywhere from 700 to 1.5K points per game you do that with.

That is by far the best way to make money. Every day you can get 1000 yen ontop of any missions and what not. It's how I maxed out bare handed in a play through.

Awesome. How do I collect it?
Also, is there any way to
Launch an assault on the other castle with my new army of bandit minions? I want to finish my plan to [strike]slaughter[/strike] dominate all of Amano.

If you talk to the guy who gives missions on the right when you come out of the main building you can tell him to give you 1000 yen. He will be a bitch about it but it doesn't matter.
What I really need to know about this game is can I join a faction that lets me oppress the common people
It's just not Way of the Samurai if I can't oppress some innocents.
Boy are you in luck. Every side that isn't the townfolks get in on some of that.
Huzzah!
Help! Help! I'm being oppressed!
Bloody peasant!
The stores around here to hurry their asses up getting this game in stock. Yeah, I could order it online, but they're saying Friday, so I'll wait it out.

See if you had ordered online before you already would of had it. Could of already been beating people up like kenshiro and catching swords in your hands.

Why aren't more people talking about this game? It's basically GTA, meets Bushido Blade, meets Diablo (In regards to loot.), with the ability to create your own story.
Also, just got my first legitimate ending. There's, apparently, an insane number of endings you can get, so i'll be trying for a new one today.
(Spoilered for massive amounts of text/story/awesome for people considering this game.)
My character's name was Shiro. He wore black, embroidered, robes, along with greaves and gauntlets on his arms and legs, and overall, had the whole "badass, evil samurai" look going on. If you had been reading my earlier posts, you might have remembered that I said I was trying to find a way to take control of the province. This is that character's story.
I started off entering the province through the care of a couple merchants who saved me from death. After calmly collecting myself and getting lectured by some old man about how "violence is wrong!" or some-such crap, I left the village to go look for work.
I first traveled to the Fujimori clan castle, and participated in the trial's there, earning acceptance into the castle as a hired samurai. I then went to the Minori clan castle and tore up the castle guards until a surly woman by the name of Ittuse came out and subtly and not-so-subtly berated all of us for being animals for fighting each other.
I was presented to the Ouka clan leader, who turned out to be a greedy prick who was manipulating one of his samurai lieutenants, Yuma, into doing his dirty work. After a quick exchange, I initiated a fight with the Ouka clan leader. I drew my sword "White Rain", and proceeded to fillet the bastard like a tuna. At one point, he just picked me up and hurled me through the doors leading into his personal chambers to get me away from him, but I got back up, leapt into the air, and lodged my katana in his skull, ending the fight.
After the Ouka Clan leader died, he dropped an interesting sword part, called the "The Blade of the Earth Deity". It was incredibly long, going off of the picture of it. I made a note of it and picked it up.
The Ouka Clan members gathered around me and prostrated themselves before me, declaring me as their new leader. Whether this is because my character was a murder-machine by that point, or if because the Ouka Clan leader was a real dick, i'm not sure.
Now, Yuma was an androgynous pretty-boy who'd make Tidus feel awkward, but he at least wanted to try and do something good with his time there, despite his methods being pretty frigging twisted. He stuck with me till the bitter end (Which I suspect involved him getting spitted on a sword in the middle of the wilderness, days before the real shit hit the fan.). Ittuse, on the other hand, just spent her time moping and being an emo bitch. At one point, she confronted Yuma and my character, Shiro, and threw a tantrum when we didn't join in on the emo-fest, she then stormed off, never to be seen again.
Things went well. I worked on earning my trust with the Fujimori clan, who apparently had no idea that I was the new Clan Sakurai leader. Unfortunately, my plans came to a screeching halt when I had to choose between extorting the already poverty-ridden and starved villagers of Tatakane Village to get access to Shuzen's (The Lord of Fujimori.) chambers so that I could kill him and take control of, or destabilize the opposing clan, or side with the villagers and get fobbed off by the Fujimori clan.
I chose the latter option, figuring I could just start a war of attrition later on. That turned out to be a huge mistake.
Several days passed. I had gathered plenty of money from the taxes earned by my clan. I decided to use it to forge my very own sword. White Rain being an superb blade, but it having taught me almost all of what it could and being prone to losing durability. It also had the disadvantage of the blade being very short, despite the fact that it let me flip around like a ninja in the Matrix.
I went to the smithy and presented the parts I had bought, and the blade I had taken off of the Ouka clan leader's corpse. The sword was forged, using the same stance and skills as White Rain, and so "Firelight" was born. I decided to wait to take it out and use it for a special moment.
A day later the Fujimori clan got word that Nobunaga was coming to ruin everyone's shit with his army, so the Fujimori clan decided to clean house so they could present a unified front against him.
At the time the attack began, my character was attending a banquet in his honor at his castle. A member of the army asked why my character looked so depressed, however, before I could reply, a soldier came in, stumbling and injured, warning of a massive attack headed toward's the castle, launched by the Fujimori clan.
Some of the bandits wanted to flee, since it was apparent that we'd all die if we stayed and presented a fair fight. I said we'd fight ---- and die with honor. Two bandits fled, the rest of my lieutenants formed up behind me and charged out of the castle into the battleground outside.
There were easily dozens of NPC's fighting in real-time, with more entering the fight at the courtyard all the time. More battles were taking place farther down, toward's the main gate. Soldiers rushed at me and my men en-masse. None of them could stand before me. White Rain carved up approximately 61 soldiers before the blade became so dull and unstable, that using it again would almost certainly break the blade, which would be expensive to fix.
So I drew Firelight. That was when the madness began.
A cutscene occurred, showing even more soldiers pouring in through the main gate. Most of them set about slaughtering what was left of my army holding them off at the main gate.
Six of them advanced up the hill, toward's me. Six of them staggered backwards, badly injured, moments later, reeling under the blows of Firelight. The thing's reach was so long, and it's attacks so deadly, that they had no choice but to retreat from me. I calmy walked down the hill, descending in amongst them, and then butchered them, my character instant killing all of them in a matter of seconds.
Such was the force of Shiro's attacks with Firelight, that I found myself pushing the entire army back toward's the front gates all by myself. There, I found Shuzen's right hand man, who made a snide remark about him discovering me being the new leader of the Sakurai Clan (To which I wished there was a dialogue option to reply with "No shit, moron. I'm standing right in front of you covered in the blood of your men, what tipped you off?"). His mob formed behind him, as mine formed up behind me, and we met under the main gate.
Being badly outnumbered, and getting drug down by the sheer number of enemies around me, I decided to flee to the ramparts, where I could hold them at a chokepoint. I had only killed one of them, when Shuzen's man ran up to me from behind me and hurled me off the ramparts. His men followed me down, while Shuzen's right-hand man took the long route, walking down the stairs to the walls. I cheerfully chain-killed half of his men in response, evening things up for my guys.
I then proceeded to turn toward's Shuzen's man, who was leading the assault, and flipped into the air, juggling him into the air until he was dead. I then positioned myself, alone, sword drawn, at the gatehouse, and proceeded to kill well over 500 soldiers trying to get inside the castle over the course of half an hour. At one point, the game just gave up, said "Fuck it! You win!", and forced me into an ending cutscene.
The cutscene showed me, and my last surviving lieutenant, Watanabe, surrounded by about a hundred soldiers outside the gatehouse. Standing back to back, we smiled, let out a battle-cry, and charged into the horde.

So I just managed to do a roll, outside of combat. What key combo does that? I don't see anything about that sort of move in the manual, or on any FAQ's.
That sort of move would be incredibly useful in fighting evasive opponents.

I'm pretty damn sure we won, too.
This game would make for a superb "Let's Play".
You, sir...you are a great and terrible Lord. My heart swells with something like admiration. Man, online coop would be awesome. NO WAIT - not co-op, necessarily. Co-HABITATION. What if two protagonist Samurai could inhabit the same world? They could be allies...or enemies! That would be so bitchin'.

The potential for hilarious griefing would be incredible if they could pull it off.
The sheer amount of dirty crap you can do to the characters ingame once you earn their trust is astonishing.
I've already emotionally manipulated/tricked someone into being my bodyguard on my second play-through. By fighting dirty and playing to people's expectations, i'm alot closer
to controlling the province then I was on my first, "honorable" playthrough.
I've already assassinated most of Shuzen's men, along with all of his lieutenants and the creepy foreign princess who was wanting to get in Shuzen's pants. I also suspect that I just won the support of Nobunaga's personal ninja assassins by murdering an unarmed woman in cold blood, which should pave the way to some interesting endings if Nobunaga ever actually physically shows up.
I haven't reached the Nobunaga event with Shuzen yet, but so far, he's got noone to execute his orders for him, so i'm hoping he'll come down out of the sealed third floor of his castle soon, so I can take him out too.
On top of that, I spared Shinnosuke, one of Shuzen's men, from the slaughter when I tore through Shuzen's castle. Shinnosuke seems to want to kill Shuzen as well, given his dialogue, and a few personal events, so that gives me yet another angle to get to him.
One way or another, if I can survive past day nine, Shuzen is going down. I've got so many people identified who want to kill him, that at least one of these angles has got to work.
The only thing working against me is that Yuma appears to have disappeared after I started fighting dirty and accidentally killed some peasants. I'm not sure if he's programmed to show up later on and seek vengeance or something, which could prove problematic.
Given all that, I can just see you framing another player for a murder, tricking an entire faction into declaring him hostile. Or there being a power struggle between two players who want to control the province, leading to the shit hitting the fan in the style of my first playthrough.
Though, given the amount of time it takes to get an ending, I imagine the biggest dick move would be to wait until someone almost finished a storyline, then to walk up to a key NPC involved with it and brutally murder them, irrevocably altering the course of events.
Is this game easier than the last two, from the amount of carnage described it seems so. But maybe i just suck.
It depends on how you play it. The starting sword is utter crap, and extremely good swords are hard to come by from what i've seen.
If you cheese the Samurai Points system, you can get instant kill mode quickly, then go and slaughter a few key characters for their weapons, which will make the game much easier once you start learning their advanced techniques.
Alternatively, you can do a few playthroughs as one of the faction's minions. By doing that, you'll have back-up in almost every battle, provided you play things smart. Having people watching your back/taking fire for you gives you a better chance to nab a good sword.
Though, if you're a master at the WOTS1 combat system, you should able to dominate most foes here once you adapt to the new features. As I understand it, the combat system is an expanded version of that game's combat system.
Mostly, situational awareness will put you into a position to wreak havoc, so long as you're smart about picking your fights.
For example, trying to
kill the leader of the Ouka clan while his two lieutenants, Yuma, and Ittuse, are in the room is not a good idea. You're liable to draw them into the fight, and one of them is enough to ruin your shit in quick order unless you know how to exploit the flaws in their styles.
Also, the story i've seen so far gives you plenty of chances to be an under-handed, opportunistic asshole, provided you don't mind taking a hit to your samurai rating.
Overall, i'd say it's easier, simply because you don't have a time limit, meaning you can explore the game at your leisure. That, and the fact that you don't lose your swords if you die with them outside your safe means you can slowly build yourself up alot easier.
Though, it being slightly easier isn't a bad thing. Alot of the changes made the game much more enjoyable and accessible.

This sounds fantastic. So swords are now like final fantasy jobs where you learn techniques, or you just learn the techniques to use with that sword? In any case i plan to cheese shit haarrrrddd.

Is it like a more "realistic" Dynasty Warriors, or Mount and Blade, or ... ?

Or a free-roaming Bushido Blade if they knew what that was.
Yes, there is definitely a horror element to the game. There are ghosts as well.
I'm going through a playthrough now where I am just murdering everyone I can. Just cause. 8-)
I never asked for this!
Strangely, I do know Bushido Blade - I was thinking just the other day that I wish there was a new version of it coming out.
Thanks - those examples put a pretty good picture in my head of what to expect.

With enough Samurai Points, you can actually unlock a one-hit kill mode, where you and your enemies can die in one sword slash.
Bushido Blade indeed.
I'm so confused.
And thats why everyone snaps eventually and has a playthrough where they just murder everyone.

This article seems to confirm that it's coming out for Europe. But since none of the major retailers don't have it listed makes me wonder if:
A) Someone forgot to add it, and maybe it'll be releasing tomorrow and people will be like "wow shits!"
Since shipping is not that cheap, I'd rather not to buy it if it's option a... Which is why I was hoping one of you guys had heard something. At this point even rumors have merit.

Well, you know how I roll. I like playing bad games. That's why Demon's Souls is one of my favorite!
ba-dum-tshhh
Off a bridge.
Into a furnace.
Unfortunately, I haven't seen any railroads around this game, so no more ridiculous collision traps.
I just stormed Castle Minori alone on a new game, after unlocking Instant Kill mode. I slaughtered my way past the guards, then took out the leadership of Clan Ouka.

The stores around here to hurry their asses up getting this game in stock. Yeah, I could order it online, but they're saying Friday, so I'll wait it out.
See if you had ordered online before you already would of had it. Could of already been beating people up like kenshiro and catching swords in your hands.

Also, just got my first legitimate ending. There's, apparently, an insane number of endings you can get, so i'll be trying for a new one today.
(Spoilered for massive amounts of text/story/awesome for people considering this game.)
