I may have done something horrible to my poor character by taking the stats of a lucky social butterfly who can tie his shoes reliably but really shouldn't be trusted in a cockpit.
I wonder what kind of horrible gunnery skill he has.
Thank goodness the old school Orion has enough armor to hug a mech to death.
I've been messing around with my hunchback and discovered that you can set the autocannon20 to rapid fire and shoot 2 rounds in 1 firing phase. Holy shit this thing will wreck everything so long as it doesnt explode.
So you essentially turn an already potent weapon into what is, more or less, a bamboo cannon. Huge boom, but the likelihood of it blowing itself up is also high.
Yeah, the few times I've managed a hit to the head, it'll either remove most, but not all of the armor, or be an epic melee attack that instakills the mech. So far I've never gotten more that one head hit in a game.
Since the official thread time is PST and I'm EST, I doubt I can sign up for a regular schedule, especially with how long some of the games can run. That being said, I have a blast playing and would be more than willing to be NPC/OpFor. Toss up a post if you need more of those and I'll join in if I'm around.

no, the schedule response has been sort of half-assed. the campaign thread is cluttered with random megamek stuff, too. i think i'm going to split them off.
The Zaku II, with the one shot leg rocket launchers attached, the 120mm hand held rifle(ten 10shot bursts per clip), and heat hawk.
Ran a couple tests, zaku vs zaku, and seems to feel pretty spot on, need to tweak the speed a little bit though. The zaku can do 88km/h, which I think is 5/8 battletech wise isn't it?
Did the ground based mecha in 0079 have boosters, aside from the dom? I don't remember them having them.
No, I'm talking about converting gundam 0079 mechs to battletech ruleset, in a megamek thread.
It just... it seems very uh, dirty to me. Ya know, like someone going into a Star Trek thread and talking about the design history of the SSD Executor? It's like an unwritten societal rule.

Actually, I think its more akin to designing a Star Destroyer SSD for Starfleet Battles.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

I'm not talking gundam wing here.
0079 and mechwarrior are a lot alike, gundam is just more close ranged and more like if every mech was a medium weight.

That'd be pretty awful too.
Oh, and it's Star Fleet Battles. They aren't actually officially associated with Star Trek, so they can't use Starfleet. They just use Star Fleet and other vague terms to get around sticky legal issues. Like, instead of Captain Kirk on the Enterprise, they call him Captain Kosnett with the Kongo. And instead of the movie refits, they call em X-Ships. It's really pretty bizarre. You've got Federation ships outfitted with tons of drones and plasma torpedo launchers for some reason... I dunno, SFB is crazy crazy stuff. Did you know Stephen Cole actually named a Federation ship the USS Hillary Rodham Clinton? Can you believe that?

I wish I got that lucky, I never manage to hit the same spot more than once.
Edge is nice, make head shots that could have been bad and turn them into 1 damage arm shots
Tried the systems tab but it isn't listed.

Are you talking about GUNDAM IN A BATTLETECH THREAD?

yeaaah..that would be... awful?
I'm getting the impression you are one of those really nitpicky nerds?
The graphics won't be done, but I want to get an idea for the stats to see how viable this is, before I put that kind of time into it.
Nah.
I'm footloose and fancy-free.
And I echo the sentiment that it just feels wrong.
Everyone knows you're supposed to use the Heavy Gear/Jovian Chronicles rules for this.
No it wouldn't work. But heavy gear is still awesome.
Do please to be telling in this places that game starting before the start.
