I'm hoping someone can direct me to an out of the way foam pack, since I already have everything else. Any tips are welcome. I love these XBLA games, from Braid to The Maw, Splosion Man to Shadow complex, kick-ass games!

Are you level 20 yet? If you are and still don't see a ? room head for save rooms and look in them. The * keeps a ? from showing up.
Also, Claire says she likes my eyes. She really digs my purple eyeliner..
Looks like Claire has ... An eyeshadow complex.
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

I'm just over a level away from 50 (and finally retiring this game (for a while)), but I'm already at 100% on my Insane run. Looks like I get to start over again!
Dunno why, on my 2nd time through on Insane, I can't for the life of me get past that one ventilation shaft just before you get the thrust pack. I can't quite make the jump into the shaft so that the climbing gear kicks in and I climb up before the gas kills me

I had trouble with this on my very first run through. Make sure you pop up out of the first vent when both guards have their backs turned - they only turn on the gas if one sees you. That will give you a few extra seconds.

I didn't even know about this gas trap and I've been through the game several times.

Just remember that half the people you meet are below average intelligence.
It's just one of those things that just annoys the fudge out of me because I can barely remember doing that ventilation shaft thing my first time through so I must not have had too much problem with it the first time through..now I'm stuck there.
So, I hit level 50, got all the accomplishments, beat Insurgent, and beat an insane 100% "normal route" run. What's left to do? I'm doing a pistol normal-difficulty runthrough but I'm kinda bored.

Finish up the master challenges (2 hour 100% run, 3 hour 100% run on insane, Status Update: Single), Platinum all the challenge rooms.
Even without that, I'd say you got your 12 bucks worth. Go play some Super Metroid or SOTN.
Okay, so I just got the hook shot and followed the blue line to the second item, but I can't get any further, as there's an electrical field sort of thing that keeps me from dropping down. Anyone know what I'm supposed to do next?

Why isn't Cobra Commander jumping into a gundam suit four times bigger than the walker armor? Instead I get to jump from platform to platform wait for Invincibility then aim a huge missle at an Airship that is idling in midair.

As I was doing that fight
I actually thought he was on the flying battleship thing. I was surprised after I blew it up when he stepped outside to start babbling about how they'd find everyone Jason ever knew and loved, etc.
Yeah, the final boss fight was a bit lame. There should have been a Proper Jetpack upgrade just for that fight, so it's one 2d sidescroller shooter boss, who is also in a huge Gundam robot suit. Honestly... all the big bad did was shake his fist menacingly when you got close to his window.
Also... what's up with the beginning section with the guy trying to save the Vice President? Was that ever explained or who the hell he was? Is he someone from the books or something?
It's my understanding that it's a complete throwaway character that isn't even in the books. But then again, I don't really know. As awesome as this game is, I don't have any desire to read the books.

None of the characters are even mentioned in the book save
The Vice President
and even he's a passing remark.
And in regards to the book:
Torrent apparently knows far more than he lets on, but I'm not willing to call him as the main driving force behind the curtain quite yet. Have to wait and see there.

On the 2nd spoiler:
Oh COME ON! He has to know. Head of NSA didn't know about nuclear explosions in Washington? He waits for weeks before getting his soldiers to clear out the place (which presumably has been emptied already by Jason...) He's completely in on it. The chick was NSA too- AND he's now the emperor. Big plot hole though: why would cobra commander be taking about an empire? he's just supposed to be lefty nut pawn of Torrent.

Purchased the game on Saturday of last week, and played it off and on (~5.5 hours) and beat it. I must be missing something because... all I know is that there were some bad dudes, I "stumbled" into their base thanks to a chick who was really a spy and cobra commander was a douche.
I keep reading spoilers about all the plot stuff here, and just what their "goal" is... and I never came across ANY of that stuff. What did I do wrong? I always felt like the story was a bit disconnected...

As the summary in the OP says, Nathan Drake goes camping with his girlfriend, she gets kidnapped by Cobra and he becomes Iron Man.

If you want the bigger picture from the books: (this will summarize a LOT and spoil the whole book- which I recommend just reading!)
This organization has "liberated" New York City from the USA by coming in with the robots. When they attacked NY the walkers only killed uniformed men and women. This "liberation" and the start of a new civil war came after terrorists of unknown origin blew up the President and had the VP killed in a car wreck. (also the sec. of defense if I remember). This was a left leaning group that was capitalizing on the "power vacuum." There was a right leaning group that also wanted to capitalize on the vacuum from within the military, but the characters foil their effectiveness. By the end of the book it looks like both sides are having their strings pulled (though they think they are acting according to their ideals) by History professor/NSA director (replacing one of the dead from terrorist attack I think) who at the end of the book comes to power as President nominated by Democrats and Republicans (foreshadowed in the beginning with talk of Rome becoming an Empire only after civil wars- then they were happy to start to dismantle the republic in favor of order).
So- the group in the woods that Jason fought: NY liberators and left leaning- some of the events are difficult to harmonize with the books though...
OH- it sounds cheesy when you write the plot down like this, but it was well enough written that it's believable in the book's world. It's not Card's best, but it was an enjoyable read. There's also an essay at the end that's worth reading for anyone who wishes to speak to Card's positions and not be seen as ignorant.

:^: Yeah, the two work best as unrelated works- which is sad to me. I am still waiting for an awesome multi-media experience, where books, games, and movies neatly fit into 1 canon and events of one have greater significance with awareness of the others. It seems like CHAIR wanted to do that with this world, but missed the mark.

why can't there be a new game+?
I'm gonna miss these upgrades, at least I still get my shotty.

Edit: Never mind, I fell so far that the game just crashed and locked up my entire 360. Not even the guide button worked.
