I am still waiting for an awesome multi-media experience, where books, games, and movies neatly fit into 1 canon and events of one have greater significance with awareness of the others. It seems like CHAIR wanted to do that with this world, but missed the mark.
Well... the Halo books make the games a hell of a lot more engrossing. That what you mean?
I was sorta dissapointed the last unlockable was an invincability helmet. Bleh. I wanted a Jetpack. Or a super melee enhancement.

Yeah, that kind of thing, though I never read a HALO book. Maybe I should.I remember the disappointment when the Animatrix and Enter the Matrix were marketed as doing the very thing I would love and look for- but failed to deliver.
Who knows, maybe Shadow Complex' inevitable sequel will do a better job!
From Chair Entertainment (from Major Nelson's blog):
A message to the Shadow Complex community
The team at Chair Entertainment continues to look for ways to enrich the “Shadow Complex” experience for players even if it means taking action by deleting leaderboard information generated by those who try to compromise our game.
This week the Xbox LIVE enforcement team will begin taking steps against players verified as cheaters. These players have not only violated the spirit of the game, but they have also violated the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use. Moving forward, initial steps will be taken with a number of player accounts that belong to verified cheaters including:
• The player will be deleted from the “Shadow Complex” leaderboard
• The Xbox LIVE enforcement team will investigate individual players removed from the leaderboards for potential resetting of the user’s gamerscore. The reset would include all games, not just “Shadow Complex.”
• Those accounts determined by the Xbox enforcement team to have their gamerscore reset will be branded on Xbox LIVE as belonging to a cheater, and this information will be reflected in the gamer profile, both on Xbox.com and in the Xbox Dashboard on the console.
We believe that our players deserve a level playing field, and both teams at Xbox LIVE and Chair Entertainment are committed to providing the best overall game experience on Xbox LIVE. To learn more about the LIVE policy on gamerscore corrections, please read the FAQ on Xbox.com.

Seems just a touch extreme to me, especially for only a single player game. Couldn't they just ban people from the leaderboards? Multiplayer cheating is one thing, but I don't really give a hoot what people do in single player, as long as they keep it to themselves.
Then again, I've never really grasped the concept of leaderboards in the first place, so maybe they are serious business. Ah well.

I was looking at the leaderboards the other day, there are about a half dozen or so people who have total campaign scores of 999999999 and things like that.
I'm kind of torn. On one hand, yay on dropping the hammer down on cheaters even though it's just a single player score, but on the other hand, yeah, it's just a single player score
So what's the deal with the heated hallway with the conveyor belts? I thought that the last item would help me get through it, but it still kills me whenever I get too far in. Plus it doesn't even look like anything's down there. Is the whole point of it really to be a deathtrap?
yet. But the blue line seems to indicate I need it to proceed. Not to mention all the things I see I could have unlocked along the way with them. Did I miss something early on?
I'm really enjoying the game a lot. I just got the armor, and I'm just wondering about how far I am through the game? I'm waiting for my next GameFly game to come so I'm trying to ration Shadow Complex as much as I can.
Man, this game has grabbed me like no other. I haven't been this devoted to a game in a long time.
Question before end-game sequence and 100% collection:
What % should my map/item collection be at before I trigger the end sequence?
If memory serves, i think both are at 98%, and the area for the final even is still undiscovered, and I know that there is 1 more collectible in there that I need.
Will I be OK?
Thanks!

I think you're about halfway through, I guess? I don't remember exactly, but you're at the part by the dam, right? The whole game will take you about 3-5 hours unless you're gunning for 100 percent items.

I don't know about the map, but you should have 100 percent items before the final encounter. There are a few items hidden inside save rooms, so the ? won't show up on the map, and I only know of one item that's hidden in the same room as another item that shows the "completed" dot.

Well, i got the
Passkey in the scuba mask room, and the missile pack in the save room...
I think all I have left for items is one Foam Pack, which
the wicked jack patillo map indicates is in the area where the end is... so i am assuming that once i get in there, the map will go to 100%, and once I get the foam pack, items will go to 100%...
Sound right?

If the Foam Pack you're talking about is Foam Pack 7 on the Achievement Hunter map, you need to collect that BEFORE you trigger the end sequence. Watch the video - the route to collect the Foam Pack is different than the route you take to trigger the end game.
So this end sequence. Will I know when it is coming up? I just wanna make sure that I've gotten everything that I want to before I pass that point of no return.
If its sorta ambiguous could someone just spoiler what I should be looking out for?

There's a large room with a domed command center that takes up most of the room. (See the last few seconds of the video below.) The end sequence starts when you climb on top of that command center.
So what's the deal with the heated hallway with the conveyor belts? I thought that the last item would help me get through it, but it still kills me whenever I get too far in. Plus it doesn't even look like anything's down there. Is the whole point of it really to be a deathtrap?
It's only a death trap. To escape the production room, you have to blow the metal plate on the floor and drop onto the conveyor, and it's just a trap for people not fast enough. There's nothing down there, and I even tried going through with the fusion helmet active and it killed me. I did get far enough to see there's just a wall there, though.
Just wanted to chip in and say what a brilliant game this is. It's the first Metroid-style game I've ever finished, and I beat it with a time of 10 hours and 45 minutes. That was with 100% items, and the only help I needed was to look on YouTube to find out how to reach hyperspeed to smash a blue block in the factory. (Technically I had to look up the location of the last passkey as well, but on the way to collect it I hit level 20 which unlocks the whole map, so I'd have found it anyway.)
I enjoyed this game so much, I reckon I'll definitely try both an Insane run and a Minimalist run at some point. Not sure about going for Insurgent, but I love the way that New Game + lets you keep the entire map. I'm not someone that plays any game enough to memorise too much crap, so if I'd have had to unlock that again on each run it would have killed the replayability for me.
Actually, I think I would be tempted to try for Insurgent, albeit on Casual mode and once I hit level 50. I'd try it because I seemed to enjoy the game more before I got double and triple jumps, and all those other toys. Oh it was still bloody great fun, but Nathan Drake > Iron Man.
Beat the game last night. I was correct about the last Foam pack bringing my item collection to 100%.
HOWEVER I thought it was in the final area, because that's how it looks on the map, so I accidentally triggered the end sequence once before i got it.... Went back to my last save, then realized that I had to backtrack a few minutes to get to the pack. No biggie.
End was epic, but a bit easy with all the extras.......
Now for a minimalist run... on casual.

I'm at the end of my minimalist run... Just about to trigger the end sequence, but...I CANNOT NAVIGATE TO THE "!".
I'm in the yellow area where you start the game, but can't seem to find the path... Is there a quick way? I can make it to the top of the mountain where I would go normally over and around, but there's that big wooden lookout that I can't seem to jump to, since I don't have triple jump or the hookshot.... and speed running up the mountain stops as soon as you get to the wood...
Any tips?
Thanks!

The lake with the cabin in the middle. You get ambushed by a helicopter the first time through.
If I remember right, you go that way pretty early in the game, right after you see Clair get put into the helicopter. If you're at the beginning area of the game, it should be a simple matter of just getting back up there via the initial way you do.

so i just finished this game, 100% the first time through. Pretty good game. Few really annoying thing like not needing every last room for 100% map, though thats more of annoyance because metroid and castlevania beat it into to find every last room.
Also ran into a number of odd glitches, twice loading after a dead to a black screen that required me to quit to the dashboard as the pause menu was also blackscreen'ed
also all of the instant death puzzles can go fucking shove it, especially the one you have to use the retarded ass hookshot for
I finally bought this the other day and I 100%ed it today.
I really couldn't stop playing. It was one of the best gaming related experiences I've had in a while. Huge fan of Super Metroid, Fusion and Zero Mission and I think this ranks right up there with them and surpasses some of them on a few levels.
The only part that ever frustrated me was navigating through to collect all the leftover items once I'd reached the final boss. If you could set a waypoint that would build a path for you then that would be ideal, because when I got to that part of my quest I was hitting Back to look at my map every minute to make sure I was going the right way.
Aside from that, which really only gets frustrating when you're backtracking for items, I thought it was an incredibly impressive game.
Does anyone know how New Game + (or rather their version of it) works? I heard you keep your Level if you start a new game, but do you keep your collected items? (rocket canisters, etc) I'm assuming you don't keep your armor.

In New Game+, you keep your level and the golden gun room is open (provided you opened it in your previous playthrough). That's it. (Although, if your level is high enough for infinite foam/grenades/missiles, you will have the infinite limit when you pick up your first grenade/foam/missile pack.)
Oh I gotcha. Thanks. I'd have the GG room open so that's a big plus. And I won't feel compelled to redo the only part of the game I didn't like (which was the scavenging for leftover items) since I've already 100%ed the game.
