Took the words right out of my mouth. Anyone know when Live games usually drop on their release dates? Do they try to put them out around midnight, or will Shadow Complex probably not be available until mid-afternoon tomorrow?

It's typically 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. EST. Not worth waiting up for, IMO, but definitely worth downloading while I'm trying to get ready for work and my wife is mad because we're running late getting out of the house on time!
I had to quote that to make sure that's what you really intended to type, and there was no hidden code screwing up your post...
I suppose to your defense that Nintendo was quite notorious for limited narrative. Actually, the game has no narrative between the prologue and epilogue. I don't mind having to make progress based solely on context, though. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment when I finally make it to the next area without being told what to do, how to get there, and what I need to do it.
Well, that and it just felt so empty. I'd probably enjoy a remake though.
Empty is the point.
It's not a barren, claustrophobic, alien wasteland otherwise.
Super Metroid came out when I was 11 years old. I rented it the day it came out.

It scared the hell out of me as a kid.
I think that's the thing. You have to have played it when it first came out.

I've been playing this over the past couple of days, and it is indeed as awesome as everyone thinks it's going to be. I have a review copy right here, and I'm happy to answer any questions that anyone has. I think the podcast I work on is also interviewing the developers this week or next week, so if anyone has any questions for them, I'm happy to take those as well. I'm not site whoring or anything, but I thought I'd throw this out there since you all general have insightful questions and thoughts.
It's only 70 minutes to wednesday here, though I have no idea if arcade releases are specific to timezones.
Most likely. If you're 6 hours ahead of us in the US (It's 6PM EST) then 2AM PST would be.... uh.... 8 hours from now. So about 7AM for you... wait.. no.. 9AM? Um...
I will say the only bad thing about this game is as cool and as different as the combat is, there's basically only 5 types of enemy (excepting bosses).

Nooooooo!
Oh well, if it's as good as everyone says it is this may not be a big thing.
I wish it was earlier. Though if it was I'd probably be up all night playing. So I guess it's better to come out later so I have something to wake up to.
I haven't read every post, but what kind of achievements will there be? Do we know?

It is fantastic, but this (and it being a bit too easy) is what stood between this being a 9 and a 10 in my review. The bad about this game is basically: enemy variety, AI is dumb (and doesn't get smarter on higher difficulties; they just deal more damage) and in tandem with that the game is too easy.
The enemy varieties are basically as follows:
Regular soldier (pistol), Regular soldier (SMG), Hookshot soldier (hookshots to the ceiling and shoots down at you), Heavy (large man with Gattling gun), Heavy w/ Shield, and a couple of robotic sentry guns.

RE: Bosses
I found the boss battles really easy and dumb for the most part. Maybe it's because I played on Normal, but my game didn't consist of much more than using the strongest weapons available and crouching occasionally.
From what members of the dev team said to me, I don't think it'll ever get patched. It's by design.
If you think about this genre, the enemies were never a challenge anyway. In Metroid the challenge isn't so much the many cannon-fodder creatures for Samus to obliterate so much as it is the big set piece bosses and the planet itself. Shadow Complex is the same way. The bosses are a little testing til you work out their weak points and there are some sections of the game with lovely insta-death pits and such that are hard to avoid even with the best skills in the game which provide difficulty, though.

Heh good omen for this game, went to buy some points off amazon, to get it tomorrow, and I found a $25 gift card I had gotten a couple months ago. So free shadow complex, plus buying the points got me another free $5 gift card thing I could use on mp3's. So I also got 8 new songs for my mp3 player.
[vidURL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_2ubJH5DhY"]This movie[/vidURL] of the Proving Grounds (timed challenges with online leaderboards, I think) is nifty. It spoils some of the gear/abilities you'll get though if you're sensitive to that stuff.

Sometimes, ever so rarely, the work internet filters work in my favor. I know the game comes out tonight and I would like to go into it fresh. I am also a tad weak willed when it comes to spoilers. My insatiable curiousity can be a pain!

Holy shit this looks fun. I was tenatively wondering if I should get this. That video pretty much cinched it. Don't watch if you're definitely gonna get it anyway though.

Any benefit to buying points off of Amazon?
It's the only way I can think of to not-sketchily buy points digitally (i.e. without having to get a physical scratch-off card) while not giving Microsoft your credit card information, since the Live customer support will flat-out refuse to remove your CC info from your account, even if your 360 is stolen.

Until the end of the month, you get $5 to spend in their mp3 store, and my CC isn't on my xbox account.

If you have PayPal you can buy points from marketplace.xbox.com by linking your PayPal account to your Windows Live ID. This is nice because 1) you don't have to give MS any credit card info, and 2) in the chance that your 360 is stolen your PayPal is not actually connected to your console or gamertag.

But depending on your state there is still tax
It can vary from store to store, too. Target does not charge me tax on funbux, but GameStop does. (Colorado Springs in the chance that there is anybody else from this city reading my post)

I still stress that going in blind is the best approach, and thus stuff like this shouldn't be viewed.
And I wish people would stop using Metroidvania for this. Controid is a better fit, Flashbatroid is even better.

Man.
The combat in this game is leagues beyond what we've seen in this genre.
Even more hyped.
Nah, man, you just need to have an imagination.
Rrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh why isn't it Wednesday.
Someone else do the math for me. My brain hurts.

I hope you're right, being a night owl I will get in at least two hours of this before going to sleep!

So awesome. I love Flashbacontroid games! Especially 2.5D ones!

Edit: I loved Flasback, but I could never get it to save my game

I thought Flashback had a password system?

Fixed.
It's 4:33PM on Tuesday PST. It may be up 2-3AM on Wednesday PST. You have at least 10 hours to go.
Right. 1:47 am here. I'm off to bed to sleep really hard.

Don't have to pay tax on them.
