ICS issues

I am trying to connect my xbox 360 to xbox live via my laptop computer which is connected to my wireless network in my house. However, every time I try I select: "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection" I get the following error message:
"An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled."

I have tried a tutorial that is linked below to tr to resolve this:

Click Start, Run, type services.msc, and click OK. To enable a service, find it in the right pane and double-click its entry. Be sure its Startup Type is set to Automatic and click OK. All the following services must be thus configured in order to use ICS:

Application Layer Gateway Service
Network Connections
Network Location Awareness (NLA)
Plug And Play
Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Remote Access Connection Manager
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Telephony

After verifying and/or configuring Automatic startup for each of these services, close the Services window and restart the computer before attempting again to enable ICS.

However, it has not resolved this problem. I have checked and double checked it to no avail. I was wondering/hoping somebody might have some knowledge in this area. I am more of a hardware guy then a software guy myself. =P

No you don't want to use ICS.

Go into network connections and select both your wireless and LAN connections. Then right-click on one and select "Bridge connections".

This should work pretty much immediately.

Well, I did the brdige connection, and yet it did not solve the problem.

My xbox keeps failing the "IP Address" test part of testing the connection to XboxLive. It reads that it is using a wired connection and the LAN and my wireless were successfully bridge, and the laptop has no problems connecting to the wireless network. I tried restarting the system and trying it again, but to no avail.

The reason I am trying to do this is simply because I have the Xbox360 (brand new) and my laptop, so I figured why not use one to help the other. Also, because the router I am using is directly on the other side of the house, about 50 feet in a straight line, a good bit more if following a path.

Any help/advice regarding this issue? If so, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you ahead of time.

There are people much more knowledgeable than I am, but it sounds to me like you need a Crossover Cable. Again, I could be wrong, so I'd wait for someone else to jump in, but this would be my guess.

Sounds like you need to turn on "Compatibility Mode", which is MS's name for turning promiscuous mode on (by default adapters will only listen for Ethernet comms bound for its own MAC address - promisc mode sets it to accept packets regardless of the MAC).

    Windows XP:
    1) Open a command prompt and type 'netsh bridge show adapter' and hit Enter.
    2) Make a note of what number your Wireless Network Connection is on that list
    3) In the command prompt type 'netsh bridge set adapter # e" and hit Enter.
    4) Use the command in step 1 to ensure that the ForceCompatibilityMode column entry for the wireless is now enabled.

Windows Vista/7 should be mostly the same, except you replace the single 'e' in step 3 with 'forcecompatmode=enable'

Assuming the connection is still bridged (and i'd disable Internet Connection Sharing while you're at it), this should let the 360 access the network properly now - I've done the exact same trick with 360s and OXboxen.

Depending on your network another reason why the xbox isn't connecting through the bridge setup is that your router could be denying it, depending on your security settings.
