Anyone main Fei Long? I was messing with him a bit, I've liked him since New Challengers. But is it just me or is he kinda lacking in SF4?
He has some cool tricks, like EX rekkas nullifying fireballs with the hit frames, but his Ultra just doesn't seem to combo from anything. I mean you can usually FA x Ultra since the FA is so fast, but there just aren't many setups that enable the Ultra to hit fully.
Any thoughts?
To be honest, I was maining Fei Long for a while and the best way to land his ultra is with FA, or my personal favorite j.HK > ultra.
Wait for people like shotos or anyone with a projectile throw it at you, then when you can tell it's being thrown, jump over it into his jump high kick.
It's a really long dragon kick that can be Ultrad.
Also, his back hadouken that does the flip over the enemy can setup an Ultra or a strong punch > ultra.
Yikes, played 2 decent Ryu players who decided to counter pick my Bison with Guile after I got around to beating their (I assume) mains consistently. I think they should have stuck to Ryu and learn the match up rather than counter pick after they start losing.
Whatevs.
Which is why I still pick Ryu in player match. I want to learn as much as I can about all the different matchups. I have a couple guys I second, but none seriously. I'm probably gonna stick with Abel, as he's pretty beastly when I'm on a roll.

Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Guile is a counter pick to Bison!? Bison was the person I had some of the hardest times dealing with back when I was playing regularly.
Gah, sometimes I hate this game so fucking much, how can my execution possibly be getting worse the more I play, it makes no sense! And I am not sure if I should keep playing El fuerte, me learning RSF seems very unlikely, and I keep getting stomped. I cant defend against crossup what so ever, it pisses me of.
He's seriously the most OP and cheapest character in the game.
Worse than Sagat.
When I play gief I do almost the complete opposite of what I normally do. Lots of neutral jumps, backtracking, running away, few if any crossups. I try to anticipate his jumpins and punish with neutral jump attacks. I also do a lot of neutral jump mk , cr.mk, fireball. Jump at his punch lariats with hp, etc.
On the less skilled giefs, this works. On smarter ones, they still rush me down and lock me in with crossup splash, and lariats, and spd. Gief is a beast. Can't think of a bad matchup for him really.

He gets beasted by Sagat and Seth. Sagat especially, he can high tiger shot so fast Gief can't lariat through them or jump over them..

I thought one of the big reasons he was considered not so tournament-viable was that, at tournament levels of play, he had really good matchups with everyone...EXCEPT the top tier characters. Usually at that level everyone had seen his setups and the top characters had ways to stay out of them.

I was thinking of trying to do arcade mode on medium with all the characters, but Seth made me not want to do that after all. I think I'm going to play DMC4 on the Dante Must Die difficulty instead.
I just got this achievement semi-recently. I did most/all of the matches playing as X character, getting beat, switching to zangief, losing to seth, switching back to X character and beating Seth with him. But the achievement never unlocked. Fast forward monthes and my internet is crapping out but I want to play with Ken link combos, so I hit up medium in arcade mode. I whip through it, die once or twice (Blanka can EX-electricity without buffering :[) but ultimately win and the achievement pops. Go figure.
I do wrong moves so much and rapid low punches from unsuccessful shoryukens and AFKLSKGJAKLFSGLAGFKLHJGKLHJ
I get myself killed SO MUCH against newbs it's unbelievable.
Which is why I sing the praises of the TE stick at every opportunity. The difference to me is night and day. And my thumb no longer hurts after an hour.
Edit: If Boxer gets predictable with his regular dash punches, FA his ass. Free crumple and free combo of your choice. Otherwise I can actually srk his dashes on reaction with the stick now. All hail the stick.

3 most top annoying and stupid fucking characters in SF4:
1. Zangief
2. Sagat
3. Boxer
Play some chun, she's good against all of them! Well a Sagat who knows how to do more than spam tiger shot in the corner will give you a bit of trouble but her keep away is too good for zangief and her crossup game can really mess with most boxers.
Alrighty... just got this game again today after trading in KOF XII as there is no hope for that game unfortunately... If anyone on PSN wants to add me feel free.. was playing Ah_Pook way back, but don't know if he's got a PS3 again.. so add me please, I'm always up for some matches.. just put a note of 'PA' in so I know where you're from.. my tag is watchfan00.. I main Abel.. think I was at G2-b last time I was playing.. time to shake the rust off heh..
The 360 version seems to have become shoto fighter 4. I played a few matches tonight, and it was Ryu, Ryu, Ryu, Blanka, Ken, Ryu, Ken, Ken, Sagat, Ken, Ryu, Ryu, Akuma, Ryu, Akuma, repeat.
Sometimes to cement my hate for this game I will go in to training mode and try and find clever and new ways to combo into ryu's ultra.
And then I go back to using honda.
This game is so ryu biased it isn't even funny. It's not even all the shotos, since ken sucks. Just ryu. But like I always say, we do not play street fighter 4 because it is good.

It's a different world on PC. I do still see Ryu, but the frequency is much, much lower. Either that or they have all moved on to G1 because the competition on PC sucks.

I think I missed you : (
I just mash x a bunch when I'm trying to get into a match usually, so I'm not always looking at the screen and I don't think there's a clear indicator that something important happened.
So I'm probably more likely to see a message here.
GG's slash, don't worry about my Rufus, you're only having a tough time because you don' know the matchup. He's a beast, but i don't have the execution to fully make him shine. I'm gonna be a Ryu main for the foreseeable future.
Aumni, for some reason I broke out in sweat when i played against you, I learned a lot from our matches, but I'm still a long way from being a real threat to your Viper. GGs.
Sorry about tonight Rakuen, I'll be glad to rematch next time. When we played I was close to signing off, and I didn't think you'd only want to play a few matches, so I declined. I promise next time I see you I'll rematch as long as you'd like. GG though.

Played a Ken in Ranked today that could not stop jumping. I started the match doing my rushdown thing (as Boxer) and after a while I notice he's jumping more than your usual online shoto (and that's saying something). First round he got some hits down, but second round I back off a bit and man it was funny. He keeps trying to jump in, so I get a couple headbutts then decide to practice my c.FP and s.MP. He'd jump in MK, I'd anti-air, and once he hit the ground he'd jump right back in. Rinse & repeat, with him not cluing in at all. After the match I saw he had double the BP than me o_O (though I haven't played much ranked). Hopefully it's just somebody's kid brother...

when i first started playing dhalsim, that was what a suprising number of players would do..... some of them would eat 6 or 7 back roundhouses in a row before jumping back and throwing fireballs.
you know its truly a scrub when they don't realize their tactic isnt working when they have been countered 5 times in a row
At one point I convinced myself that it was some advanced mind games people like that were doing. Like they were willing to jump in and get knocked down every time because they were planning something.

I don't understand ryu players who do dp, super -> ultra. The ultra only hits twice, it's such a waste. I've been practicing for my tourney match last night and a little this morning, and have run into a couple people who've done this.

You're on PC, right? Press home, click on the button with your username on it, then click "view games" and then choose a game from the list.
I'm not sure why I pay attention to that stuff. Sometimes, I even look at the achievements of the people I've played with.
this is why i like learning a wide variety of people, and just go random every time. they cant do shit if they dont know who im gonna be.
He's seriously the most OP and cheapest character in the game.
Worse than Sagat.
Bison is Guile's only advantaged match up
I'm with you. Zanfief can go fuck a bear. Actually, he'd probably do that anyway.

Sure, I'm up for being horribly beaten.
I was sakura and couldn't do jack shit.
Even when I hit him 5-6 hit combos, it wouldn't even dent him.
I am awful at this game.
Please tell me that was a pun. Because i lol'd
