Some players are still hung up on OMG comboz! They don't really understand that scaling makes moves like that impractical. SF is odd in the way it scales some stuff though. I don't think it looks at the combo counter, but at the "moves" themselves.

Ex: Rufus jumping hk to EX Snake Strike is 8-9 hit combo, but does a ton of damage with minimum scaling. I think the games on;y counts two moves with that. I've seen a video in which someone did that, and the opponent bounced off the wall and he followed up with ultra and it all connected, did close to 75%. This was in training of course, prolly not practical online, as the spacing has to be just right to get the opp to "bounce" against the wall.

    Hiryu02 on
Sev: Your gameplay is the most heavily yomi based around. Usually you look for characters that allow you to force guessing situations for big dmg. Even if the guess is mathematically nowhere near in your favor lol. You're happiest when you have either a 50/50, 33/33/33 or even a 75/25 situation to go crazy with. And you will take big risks to force those situations to come up.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Seriously that shit does an incredible amount of damage.

Well I think we determined earlier that scaling is move based rather than hit based. So this would make sense.

Anyway, it still blows me away on that j.hk->ex snake strike. Shit!

I remember reading on the srk forums that most of the scaling is move based, with certain special, supers and ultras counting for 2 moves instead of one. Rufus Ex snake strike > ultra isn't too hard to do in the corner and it does a ton of damage. Gouken ex palm > ex fb > ex fb > ultra does ~723 dmg with the added bonus of having people rage quit.

Yeah, I tend to abuse it too much though. You kind of have to predict the jump or counter jump on reaction very quickly, but two of those landed in a match and it's usually gg.

This is why I have trouble against ground game based characters that don't jump in much, or that jump in unpredictably. I've eaten many a lp shoryu into ultra from safe-playing Ryus.

That'd be a pretty huge waste of meter for Gouken IMO. Pretty sure you'd still be in the 600's if you nixxed those 2 ex fb's.

(EDIT) also worth pointing out, all these combos assume FULL ultra and your opponent at 100% health. They take scaled down damage the lower health they have.

Anyone mess with the voices in this game? I usually have all JP vocals, but I've recently set Rufus to English because the way he says "Galactic TorNAdo!" is funny. And he's American anyway, so it works.

Cammy has a sexy accent in English, but she calls certain moves completely differently, Gyro Drive Smasher instead of Spin Drive Smasher, for instance. I keep Ryu in JP, simply because the way an english speaker says "Hadouken", which I hear a LOT in matches grates on my nerves.

Might set Boxer to English too, just for MAH FIGHT MONEY!

Who else sounds cool/dumb in English?

Edit: And yes I'm bored and stuck at work for another six hours, so help me get through this day.

I have to agree with this. Her voice is so fan girlish, but the actress really seemed to give it her all and it just works. Chun on the other hand has to stay JP. C.Viper, Rose, Cammy, Rufus, Claw, Abel, Guile, Blanka, ELF, and Boxer were my other English language characters.

So, I'm preeetty bad at fighting games and am currently doing Ryu's 5th trial, 3rd part, where I have to combo a j.hp, hk, shinku hadoken. I can get j.hp+hk but for the life of me I cannot get any kind of follow-up after that. Half the time I can't even follow up a HK to the air with the super and end up doing a shoryuken instead. HOW DO I DO THIS OH MY GOD I CANNOT DO THIS?

I'm on PC and use keyboard. At the moment I'm trying to do the combo by doing the j.hp, leaving the HP button pressed, doing the hk and then as it hits trying to roll out the 2xQCF and releasing the HP but I can't get it working.

I would go into training mode and mess around into just getting the combo of the hk into super, the timing is such you want to get your two qcf's going instantly after you hit the kick button. I'm on PC and use keyboard as well and it wasn't too hard, just mess around in training getting the hk -> super combo, then just tack j.hp onto it.
