Sorry if this turns out to be a discussion that was had at E3. I wasn't really around much for that.
From what I can recall of what was mentioned about Wii Fit Plus, it will have the same excercises. Just that instead of being "pick what you want to do" in the original Wii Fit, it will be organized in a way that will make sense for what you're wanting to do (lose weight, build muscles, stay toned, etc.) in Wii Fit Plus. And then there's different mini-games, and the game will measure calorie loss as well as BMI.
This is all I know for what's different between Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus, and if the games are really so similar, then two questions spring to mind: If you get Wii Fit Plus, why would you ever need Wii Fit original?, and if the games are so similar, why would I need Wii Fit Plus?
So I'm asking for some edu-ma-cation. What makes Wii Fit Plus so different that it'll be worth dropping another $50 for it?

Pricing aside, watch this video:

While the yoga poses look the same, everything in the video is different from the original and most of it is brand new. The skateboarding and Mario obstacle course look really fun.
WiiFit Plus also has Segway racing and a Parappa style repetition game.

It's also supposed to have online connectivity which the original didn't have.
So yes, I think it's very worth it at $20 and still quite worth it at $50 for owners of the first.
Between that, and seeing the first video (which I saw on the Nintendo Channel), that's what caused me to make this thread. So far, it sounds like I'd pay full price for a game where only half of it is new, and that half of it is the "bonus" because the exercises is really the focus of that game. This just leaves me thinking "That's it? There has to be more to it, or something I'm not aware of."
....such as online connectivity. Um.....unless its for high scores in the games, what's the point? To have competitions with your friends to see who can lose the most weight? I can somewhat see the appeal in that being an extra motivator to lose weight, but that sounds like something that can be handled solely by the weight scale graph in a "Wii Fit Plus Channel".

I wouldn't buy the game for the yoga anyway so as far as I'm concerned it's all new, and looking as entertaining as the Wii Sports Resort minigames.
Mainly I don't really feel a need to convince anyone to buy something I haven't played myself and I don't think anyone else here has that responsibility either. If you dislike what you see, then feel free to ignore it.
This wasn't meant to sound like me asking people to convince me to buy it. Whether I buy it or not, I want to make sure I have all available information when I make that decision, and you helped me with that. I didn't know about the online stuff and the segway racing until you told me in this thread.
As for price, I'll try to find it.

As someone who uses Wii Fit regularly, that's well worth $20-$30.

The new games look fun (I want to run the obstacle course!) but the biggest draw for me is the ability to create a routine and have it run straight through. It's not like being dropped back to the menu is a huge hassle, but it adds up. Doing 30 minutes of exercise actually takes more like 45 minutes from start to finish.
Also, Loki and Cloudeagle, you guys might like this site. It lets you choose what your goal is (weight loss, strength, etc), the time you want to spend, and generates a routine for you.
Much appreciated. I'll have a look at it.
