You have to ask what all these gorgeous women see in a perpetual loser who can't afford the rent on a crap shack, is ignorant, forever late, pretty much an uncaring douchebag when it comes to non-random citizens and generally a grade-a asshole.

I knew if I waited long enough, we would eventually completely agree on something.

I dunno if its age or if the stories are getting worse but SPider-Man/Peter Parker is probably the least likable person in the MU right now and if thats what they're going for, congratulations.
It's true. I actually like Norman Osborn more then Parker at this point. At least one of them has always been a jerk.

Norman has an interesting dynamic going on and its fun when they bring in his insanity. MOst good villains have redeemable qualities even if they're not positive qualities.
Parker I'm just coming to resent. His life is filled with either huge, depressing lulls or floods of gorgeous women out of his league and the whining, the constant whining. They really need someone with talent to come on, absolutely deconstruct his life in the worst tradgedy ever to happen to him and rebuild him with more character and perhaps a set of testicles.

i'm looking forward to the storyline where MJ starts fucking norman. i mean, he's down with pretty much every other woman peter knows, despite being a sweaty middle-aged psychopath who foams at the mouth whenever he sees a spider.

Not a clue what else you can do to him. Ideally he'd come home to find Aunt May murdered, possibly by a super villain still present. He would flip the fuck out, nearly beat the guy to death, throw on the black suit and become like he was when he had the symbiote on for a bit.
Does Aunt May own their house? If so he can have that so no more fucking storylines and side-plots and references to how he always needs money for a home he never lives in and ideally he'd slap the taste out of JJJs mouth and break his spirit entirely so that little saga can end. Angry spider is always much more fun than regular spider. In fact the last time I recall him being worth reading was when he broke into prison nad beat the Kingpin.

Unfortunately, that kind of thing is ALL too common. Heck, my sister qualifies as one of those "hopelessly in love with a loser" types.
I just wish they'd show the other side. When the girl is a hopeless loser and the guy is actually fairly decent.
P.S. How can Frankencastle not be terrible? But then again, I did think the same of Pet Avengers and Marvel Apes. How was Marvel Apes anyway?

it was a parallel universe where everyone was a monkey and also vampires.

I can definitely see it now. It can be called Sins, Stupid...
It's kind of infuriating to think of how the women in Peter's life acted before (Aunt May knocking out the Chameleon, MJ fighting the Bee guy, generally being bad ass) and how right now they are the worst caricatures of a female imaginable.

Aunt May isn't so much a woman as a collection of sentient dust.
In a way, it seems like MJ is being sexually abused. I mean, think about it. She was madly in love with Peter Parker, but then she's brainwashed. Her hooking up with these other men is not in accordance with her true feelings/intellect.

Oh come on, Servo. You know as well as I do that female characters exist to further the story of male characters. It's not like they're people.

well doesn't the same apply to peter?
double standard!
Yes, it does. How do you think he's going to feel if/when he regains his true memories. If it was me, intellectually I would know its not my fault, but the guilt would still be all over me like stink on a monkey. And Peter Parker can do guilt.
Don't you understand MJ we can't be together. I couldn't live with myself if I ever cheated on you while under the spell of a demonic entity again. Its too risky.

And Joe Kelly knows how to write strong women, that's what truly pisses me off about that issue. And not only that, he's been a much better writer than this (If I had to pull a top 5 best single issues, 2 books would be written by him). His Lois Lane was a great supporting character, and outside of Simone or Rucka he totally understands Wonder Woman. The JLA arc Golden Perfect? Great story.
It's just this sense of fail that envelopes everyone associated with Spider-Man these days, these writers and artists who are really good on anything else. Mark Waid's run, Guggenheim's, Gale's, Kelly's, Zeb Wells had that one really good arc in the beginning then he was booted off the team...

Maybe if we get someone that is usually awful to write it, it'll be great.
Does anyone know how to get in contact with C.B. Cebulski?
I haven't even mentioned Peter's house of hot, southern, prostitute cousins who sit around all day in bathrobes waiting for him to "drop by."
Maybe all these artists and writers are rebelling? Like, we won't write a decent story until this is fixed?

Oh man, if Kathryn Immonen wrote Amazing Spider-Man, that would be pure terror.
Cue the fanfics!
Spidey goes to a bar with Luke Cage and Logan.
Because that'd be funny and "you have to remember, when the super hero suits are off these are just normal guys and friends and so it's normal for them to go out and have a few beers together"

Just out of curiosity, what would those 2 Joe Kelly books be? I'm thinking maybe the Manchester Black issue of Action Comics and maybe something from his JLA run? Or Last Will? Then again, you could be talking about the first 2 issues of Bad Dog.

So out of curiosity, does anyone here like ANYTHING about current Spider-Man and whats going on in the comics?
I like that the last annual and the upcoming Ben Reilly story actually acknowledges that Ben existed and the Clone Saga happened, but that's all that I can come up with.

Oddly enough, one of the Amazing Spider-man's that really stuck in my head was the one where Spider-man plays poker with a bunch of other super heroes, and when the Kingpin crashes the party, Spider-man successfully pulls one over on him.
Peter going to a bar seems totally out of character for him. And Luke Cage, while he may consume a beer with friends, doesn't really seem the bar type to me.
cage doesn't seem like the bar type? do the heroes for hire even have an office? i thought they just hung around in bars and strip clubs until danger presented itself.

I am so sad I wasn't a kid during the Golden Age, when EC was really in the swing of things with horror and crime books out the ass
