cage doesn't seem like the bar type? do the heroes for hire even have an office? i thought they just hung around in bars and strip clubs until danger presented itself.
I haven't even mentioned Peter's house of hot, southern, prostitute cousins who sit around all day in bathrobes waiting for him to "drop by."
That sure is a funny thing you made up right here and now and in no way even resembles anything that's happened in the comic. Right?
...Right?
Please?
Sadly, no. They've been around for like, 6 issues now, even thought Aunt May's wedding has come and gone. Yet, there they are. Apparently, they don't have like jobs, or clothes.

I would rather read New Avengers where every scene with Jessica involves her holding a baby.
Have you read "The Pulse" book 3? Its by Bendis, and it essentially focuses on Jessica Jones and her baby. Heck, my wife actually randomly picked it up and started reading it because it had a picture of Jessica's baby on the cover (my wife being baby crazy at the moment).

The Pulse is also fun. Both Jessica and Cage beat the shit out of Osborn.
Well, technically Cage just picks up his limo and starts shaking it around until Osborn snaps and goes all Goblin on everyone, so that it is revealed to the world that Osborn and the Goblin are the same person

I just re-read The Pulse. Cage smacks Osborn in the end, after he grabs onto Spidey who grabbed onto Osborn.
Cage surrendering in New Avengers didn't make too much sense. I have no clue as to why Cage thinks he's going to get a fair shake with Osborn. First he punches him out and unmasks him in public. Then Cage reneges on his deal with Osborn to join him in return for Osborn finding his baby. Personally, I think Cage is going to get worked over as much as Spidey recently did in American Son, if not more.
Why didn't they just take Cage to the Baxter Building? Or to the X-Men? Or the Mighty Avengers (Pym can shrink down and fix him from the inside). Anywhere but in the hands of Osborn who probably wants Cage to suffer the most.
Not a clue what else you can do to him. Ideally he'd come home to find Aunt May murdered, possibly by a super villain still present. He would flip the fuck out, nearly beat the guy to death, throw on the black suit and become like he was when he had the symbiote on for a bit.
Is this a joke post?
This is basically exactly what happened in Spider-Man recently with Back in Black and One More Day.
And Joe Kelly knows how to write strong women, that's what truly pisses me off about that issue. And not only that, he's been a much better writer than this (If I had to pull a top 5 best single issues, 2 books would be written by him). His Lois Lane was a great supporting character, and outside of Simone or Rucka he totally understands Wonder Woman. The JLA arc Golden Perfect? Great story.
Just out of curiosity, what would those 2 Joe Kelly books be? I'm thinking maybe the Manchester Black issue of Action Comics and maybe something from his JLA run? Or Last Will? Then again, you could be talking about the first 2 issues of Bad Dog.
Oh yeah, Action Comics #775 is one of them. It gets a lot of hype but it works as a Superman story trying to put him in the modern comics world. Superman doesn't have to kill because he's Superman, he can be everywhere, and this book emphasizes that. It wouldn't really work for Batman, but for Superman yes.
The other is JLA #61, his first JLA issue with Mahnke which sums up the league perfectly during a "normal" day for the team.
These books not only flow really well, but are one and done stories that have great art (it's Mahnke, natch) and show the heroes as actual humans that you care about. Kyle waiting in line to get coffee in the morning and Wally runs in from halfway across the country to to get his coffee then runs off leaving Kyle to pay for it? That works and makes me mad we have the wiener brigade of Hal and Barry back hogging all the limelight again.
Honorable mention would also be Action Comics #768, which would probably show up in my top 10 list. That is just a funny issue where Superman has to deal with wackiness int he Captain Marvel family.
I haven't even mentioned Peter's house of hot, southern, prostitute cousins who sit around all day in bathrobes waiting for him to "drop by."

They are not southern they are from Boston but otherwise yes.

Nope. And its not exactly what happened because Aunt May lingered on and on and on and the story ignored any number of people and methods that oculd save her and she ultimately lived. In this she'd die and instead of becoming whiny and bargaining hed just become angry and bitter and a few of theheroes would start taking him seriously instead of being the hero whos saved New York a bunch of times while still being considered a huge joke.
He'd mellow out after a while but lose the guilt trips, the whining and the crappy relationship subplots and grow as a person without having to leap around for Aunt May.

That's what I thought, but the way they write the dialogue makes them sound southern for some reason.

Yeah, having Aunt May lay dying because this bullet hit her just in the right spot, when others take repeated bullets all the damn time in the Marvel Universe and walk it off was such bullshit. The scene in Guardians of the Galaxy where Jack Flagg's broken spine is fixed in 15 minutes and he can walk again I always thought was DnA's attempt to show how fucking stupid the concept of death or paralysis is to heroes and their families, especially when the FF are right down the damn street.
Since we're on the subject of Cage and Jessica Jones, Green Goblin exploded a wall onto Jessica that should have killed her kid (she was still pregnant) but that kid lived. What the hell, Aunt May, are you good for anything? Wheatcakes?

Well, to be fair, Jessica Jones is a little bit tougher than some random, powerless, 90 year old woman.
But, really, all 616-May is good for is making you wish you were reading Ultimate-May instead.

I liked JMS/Millar/Bendis's take on Aunt May-616. This is the version that found out the truth about Peter, and becomes this surprisingly supportive and strong woman. She was no longer "victim" fodder, but depicted as someone who could take care of herself (that's right Chameleon, you got pwned by Aunt May).
I actually found her blossoming relationship with Jarvis to be rather sweet. And I think she made a good 'den mother' figure for the New Avengers while not falling into the 'sweet old lady' stereotype.

That was just one version of her. I did not like the I died and came back to life versions. Uncle ben is lonely and wants his wife back.

Speaking of which, if Peter has been carrying the guilt of Uncle Ben dying all these years, couldn't he have asked Mephisto to save Aunt May AND Uncle Ben?
Yeah the Original Sin arc of Origins that crossed over with Legacy was good, but hearing about the subsequent stories makes me glad I dropped it after that point. And seriously, is there any reason for Origins anymore? I know Way said he had a 60 issue total run planned but I think Marvel should just tell him to give it up and concentrate on Dark Wolvie and Deadpool which are two actual good books.

I can't wait for the Marvel number logic of getting Wolverine to #300 or #400 in the coming months. They'll probably throw in the AoA story, the original Miller/Claremont mini, Wolverine & PowerPack, etc.

I love Kelly's run of JLA. It was back when I was barely getting into comics, but I really liked his interpretation and of course, Mahnke's art. Hell, I was actually a supporter of Batman/Wonder Woman thing.

That is what I would do if I was Cage.
He got no business hangin' in strip clubs
That is where Jessica Jones got drunk before having sex with him. And getting pregnant.
Come on, people, read Alias.

Dark Wolverine appears to be much better. I imagine Marjorie Liu co-writing it has something to do with that.
