Flying to Canada for a bit

WELL, on my trip to florida (from canada) back in march, we called and they said we didn't need the passport as long as we had photo ID and all that. We brought that, the border guards stopped us and refused to let us go. We were officially deported from the US... So I dunno, it might be more of a problem not having a passport than the other replies lead you to believe.

if you are entering the US from anywhere, you will need a passport.
it used to be you didnt need one if you were entering from north america, but TSA is changing the rules.
as it stands now, all you need is one valid picture id, DL, ID or Mil ID should do just fine.
Anyone with recent experience on this?

All you need now, is a valid ID.
The only thing im not sure of, is when the new passport rule goes into effect in/near the middle of January.
one valid ID, and your good to go.
Reading up it seems that it's December 31st, 2006 for some places and December 31s, 2007 for Canada.
I should be ok.
