I think the longest a level took me was about 12 minutes and that was sometime in world 3.

Also in world 3 I got trapped against a wall by a laser, it would shoot me and I'd roll away, hit a wall and roll back into it's line of fire. At no point could I regain control and then after about 4 minutes he finally stopped just short enough for me to run under a platform.

Apart from the occasional dodgy camera the only think I really hate about the game are the shuriken bots. I've never played Mirror's Edge but I imagine this is a similar complaint. Why, in a game about maintaining your flow through the level, did anything think it was a good fucking idea to make you stand still for 30 seconds to reflect some missiles? Even worse in world 3 when they put conveyors down and make you run laps hitting it once each time.

This game did a great job of balancing the "Okay just one more" with the "I am going to murder someone to slake my burning hatred for life." There was one particluar section of a level around 3-7 or 3-8 that had me almost blind with anger. Are the sentinels the flying laser-shooting robot motherfuckers?

That's what my girlfriend started calling them, since they're basically straight out of Halo. I've since adopted it.

Just wait until you get to Hardcore mode; those bastards get even more fun, since everything instakills you, and you don't get any checkpoints.

This game has made me come VERY close to buying THE MAW, just because I want to give Twisted Pixel money to keep making games.

Is the Maw worth 800 points?

You know, I felt the exact same thing, and that's weird because I'm way, way past the point where I used to care about voting with my wallet in this manner. The last time I did that was with Pac-Man CE, and I went and bought some Pac-Man gamerpics, but Splosion Man already gives you two gamerpics and a premium theme! Is the Maw 800 or 1,200? I initially kind of dismissed the demo, but I might redownload it and try it again. I've heard it's not as polished and fast as Splosion Man, but after seeing those ending credits I'm bursting with love.

Yeah, the second I read about that, I wrote that achievement off as one I'll ever get. No, not a chance will I ever subject myself to that.

The Maw is a great game, only costs 800 (with three extra levels dlc for 100 each), and is full of charm and personality. It's not as good as Splosion Man, but it's really fun.

Well, it's not old school Mega Man hard where you'd rip your hair out. I'm about halfway through World 2, and aside from a few retries, it's not very difficult. It's probably because I've already gone through the game on Normal and found all the cakes, so the levels are familiar already.

This has been the birthday present that keeps on giving. Did some local multi on Friday and the only thing that prevented controllers from being tossed was Polago carrying me through some of the "dear lord we've got to do what?" sections.

Trying some of those over Live with my better half have been a little patience-straining at times (slightest hint of lag and your timing goes right out the window), but the satisfaction of hitting them perfectly is wonderful.

He gives you plenty of warning when he's going to fire it.
Just run to the corner and splode jump when the lasers get close.

Sure, I know what he's going to do. I just suck. Also I hadn't thought of jumping on the platforms. Now it's the flicking splosionman onto the screen that gets me.

FUCK this level I'm on. 2-6, I think.

I spend two or three minutes dancing around, carefully sploding drones and flipping switches, and every single fucking time, one last switch to hit, and I get blasted from two or three directions.

I had to do way of the coward on 2-9. After 20 minutes of the second (H)elevator of death I had to move on or chew through my controller. Doing the next stage in a tutu was....intresting to say the least.

    Oh and one more thing

I'm proud to say that I'm up to 3-11 or 3-12 and I've only once taken the tutu, and that was on Live multiplayer where the lag made it literally impossible to get through the level.

I worked my way through the entire single-player without a single tutu-donning. Man that shit up! :P I picked up the rest of the cakes in World 1 last night, and I'll probably find the rest of them in Normal before going into a Hard-core run and trying it to see how terribly frustrating it might be.

I went through the first couple of co-op levels crazy Ikaruga style (i.e. I used 2 controllers and controlled both Splosion Men simultaneously). It was doable, but my times were really bad.

I'm trying my hardest to do this as well. I will not don the tutu! I think I'm up to about 3-9 or 3-10 (not sure what the last level I did was), so not doing too badly. I'm excited to see how much harder Hardcore mode is.

I purchased this right after playing the demo. Gotta say it's a shitload of fun, but it feels like the hit detection is off in a lot of spots, and the later levels could do without so many leaps of faith. That said, the game is worth every penny I paid for it. Me go splode now!

Oddly enough, this game reminds me of........Punch-Out. I get up to a new board/fighter, I feel it out, I get my asskicked/disintegrated. I figure out the timings and patterns and I beat the level/get a TKO.

Both amazing games with personality. I swear if 'splosion man had a crazy ass Irishman punching himself and talking shit, it'd win game of the year.
