How quick humans are to forget those who have sacrificed for them. The people of Nippon had known a blessed peace for many years, but it was not to last. The gods were uneasy; they whispered amongst one another of the stirrings they sensed. If that ancient evil were to return, who among them was strong enough to resist? Who would step up to fight?

Game Mechanics

In addition to regular attacks, there are elemental attacks. There are eight elements: Blizzard, Inferno, Thunderstorm, Slash, Greensprout, Bomb, Galestorm, and Waterspout. Most (but not all) roles will include an elemental type. And most will also include an elemental vulnerability.

A regular attack will behave as expected in Phallas past. An elemental attack will succeed only if used against a player with that vulnerability.

Let's take a look at a sample (villager) role:

You are a Lesser spirit.

Elemental type: Galestorm
Elemental vulnerability: Bomb

As a minor spirit, you lack the power of the Brush Gods. But you are still attuned to the world and to nature, and you can tell that something is amiss. You know that there are evils that lurk in this world, awaiting their opportunity, and you fear that it may have come to pass. Regardless, you must do what you can to preserve Nippon and her denizens.

Victory condition: All evil factions eliminated

You have the limited ability to make an attack based on your element. You begin the game with one available use of this ability. After a certain number of days, you may gain more.

So this particular player would be able to initiate a Galestorm attack against a single target of his choice, and if that player were to be weak to Galestorm, he would die. Similarly, anybody who attacked this villager with Bomb (or a regular attack) would kill him.

There are other abilities in the game. For example, Sunrise and Crescent will reveal a target's elemental type and vulnerability, respectively.

Voting

In addition to the daily kill vote, you must also vote for a player to seek out aid from Rao, the Priestess, whose unpredictability is as impressive as her bosom. Whoever receives this vote will have something good or bad happen to them, depending on Rao's "mood." Vote for this in magenta.

Rules

Voting will close each day at 8 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (11 p.m. EDT, 3 a.m. GMT).

Vote in red, retract in lime. Retractions are not required, but they are helpful.

I ask all players to get at least two or three posts in per day, including voting. If you find yourself unable to continue participating mid-game, please let me know rather than simply disappearing.

Role PMs may not be quoted, only paraphrased. Anonymous contact is prohibited. No screenshots. You know the drill -- don't try to game the game.

Any external boards that are created must be accessible to me.
