I know I'm going to regret this, since I'm certain you guys already beat this horse to death, but I gotta wonder why people feel the soldier is next? A soldier played well is a formidable foe. They have long range high explosives, and a good medium range shotgun, and a killer melee attack. Add a beefy stock of HP, rocket jumping and kritz rockets and they almost feel over powered. Man, if you can't do well playing a soldier, you need to buy some skills.
The only thing I could think to add for items is a rocket launcher that gives you better jumping skills at the cost of lower damage & no crits.
I'd much rather see them mix up the items for the engy so they aren't just stuck building a mini fort in a corner every game. They're designed to be a defensive class, but I have more success on offense setting up teleports and dispenser and then throwing up a randomly placed level 1 sentry where people don't expect them.

Because they've already said every class is getting unlockables
And almost every blog post since the sniper/spy update has been soldier-themed.

It's because soldiers can't solo for shit.
Or at least that's how everyone misconstrues my arguments about learning to play soldier
This reminds me, I saw a cloak and dagger spy last night who was running around as a heavy.
It was funny because he was "cloaked" and his watch was on empty.. which meant he was moving at full spy speed, with the silhouette of a heavy. This was so out of the ordinary I had to stop and stare until he disappeared around a corner.
I probably should have rung up the Ghostbusters to deal with it.

At least I didn't fuck up that bad last night. I tried playing with the dead ringer for a while and sucked at it so I went back and selected the regular watch....or what I thought was the regular watch. Then went around ready to sap a sentry waiting for my cloak to run out since it was sitting at almost nothing and I was strafing back and forth. Until I realized I wasn't decloaking....I selected the C&D.
I felt S-M-R-T

No, I am not really communist. Yes, it is weird that I use this name.
Last night I switched back to the regular watch from the cloak and dagger and I ended up accidentally revealing myself at least twice as I just stood still.
Man, I don't even know what the cloak and dagger does!
It's an invisibility watch that only drains when you move, and recharges when you stand still.
Ah. That seems useful in the right situations.
It drains and recharges faster. Also when it is "completely" drained you don't become completely visible you just have the little outline like when you get hit with something when using the regular watch.
So in essence I was just a ghosty little figure straffing around behind a sentry waiting to decloak so I could sap it.

In general it promotes bad habits.. spies will just sit around in complete safety, using up a team slot but not helping in the slightest. You really have to use it like the regular cloak to remain useful.. which is hard, because running over ammo doesn't replenish it.
You can make some pretty epic getaways with it, however.
Bad spies are bad spies regardless of which watch they use- when you start to get the hang of it, you can damn well clean up.
I killed almost a dozen mans in one life defending on Goldrush... until tyranus killed me with a crit when he wasn't even aiming at me. Git.
I've been trying to learn the spy a lot better, and it's amazing how streaky things get.
Will get a nice triple backstab one life, then spend the next five minutes not getting a single kill. Every single time you decloak or go around a corner, there's an enemy right in your grill who's all "heyyyy.. you shouldn't be here".
I have a pretty terrible framerate as well, and I miss a lot of backstabs because I can't track fast moving players well enough.

But the CnD allows a bad spy to survive. Just sitting there. Invisible. He sees all, but does nothing.

So does just sitting in spawn being idle. And a bad spy can "do nothing" by treading the same path time and time again and dying on each encounter- same waste of time, same ineffectiveness, the only difference is their death count.
Also, god damn I hate Watchers and all their equivalent factions/species/entities in science-fiction.

In general you're right, but I think repeatedly dying gives the player feedback that what they're doing is wrong. They either try a new tactic, or switch classes.. either of which is an improvement.
CnD just lets you sit around like a wuss.
(for the record, I use CnD exclusively because I know I'm a wuss)
Welp, if someone can repeatedly sit around like a wuss and get nothing done and don't absorb that it's ineffectual as a tactic, then I think the feedback is the least of the player's worries...

Kills are not the only thing you can do. You can also be helpful to your team by distracting some of their players near their back line so they end up chasing you for 30 seconds instead of running up to the front lines. You may die and you may not get any kills but you are at least helping your team by distracting the enemy. I've seen bonk scouts do the same thing. I swear some people act like they are cats and the bonk scout is a laser pointer.

But sometimes you can be a ninja with the CND
Sort of like how just a quick glance of a scoot will send half the team chasing after them like retards, a passing spy will send the respawns on a wild goose chase. The spy might not kill anything, but it will reduce the number of angry burly mans standing on the point by 1/2.

There should be an unlockable item that removes the secondary weapon and reduces the soldiers health by 50.
It's 3:30 on the east coast. All the responsible tuftooers are earning a living right now, and will stay this way for at least another hour.
It's even earlier here.

Hey! I have the day off. Dick.
And yet you are typing here instead of playing.
You don't qualify as a responsible tuftooer
This is your boss. I lied about the day off for my own amusement. Now you're in big trouble, mister!

Heh, I deleted 7 KGB's last night while waiting to respawn. Luckily I still have all 12 sandviches.
olol:

My boss barely knows how to run a computer.
Man, the medic is gonna be deplaced once heavies combine kgb+natasha+sandvich and start rapid firing healing fists of death.

They said it was a mistake that it's doing that, but they never fixed it. Maybe it's a mistake that it is doing it early?

perhaps that's why they took it down
you know, editing, grammar, shit like that
Anyone know a way to fix this?

Add them to your favorite server list? Duh. ;-)
