What do you guys think about flash game developers like Nitrome using MochiCoins or other forms of interweb monies to charge for extra content in their games? If a developer puts as much effort into making a quality flash game as Nitrome does, then gamers shouldn't have a problem shelling out a few bucks to enjoy them right? This business model generates more revenue for the company and hopefully would lead to making bigger and better quality games for the gamers to enjoy. That being said I'm not sure if I like the idea of paying out dollars for a game knowing that I've suckled at the teat for free up until now. So what do you guys think? Would you pay for something that you are used to getting for free? If this model proves to be successful for Nitrome and other developers alike, them you can rest assured that other flash developers will follow suit and if they haven't already.

Hi, welcome to the forums. . .
Personally, I would not pay for flash games mostly because for every one that is original and fresh there's over nine thousand zombie tower defense games where the creators are unfathomably weeaboo in all of their design decisions. That and why should I pay for something when the millions of ads plastered all over the browser when I'm playing them is already paying the creators?
For future reference, round these parts we don't sign our posts.
You make a good point. There is definitely a crazy amount of flash games that copy each other and litter the net. However I've noticed that to find one that's actually a quality game that I want to play for more than 30 seconds is harder and harder to come by. So if you do get one that's as good as any XBLA game is it worth shelling out the few bucks for.

I think I'd prefer to be given a link where I could pay the developer directly so that they get all of my money without it being tied up in some third party's funbucks conversion. Maybe receive some token bonus stuff for the contribution.
With that said, it can be extremely easy for the developer to either get greedy and lazy, and instead of giving this token bonus to contributors they simply lock away (what should be) regular features until you purchase them back, effectively ransoming the content. And as the mindless consumer that I am, I really hate being treated as such, and most of the time this is an extremely transparent tactic.
Also, these bonus features (in the case of say, multiplayer or high-score focused games) should be balanced with the vanilla version of the game.

The same can be said for any numbers of things. Most things, really. As they say, 90 percent of everything is crap. If someone makes a quality Flash game and charges for extra content, as outlined above, why would the existence of lousier games make a difference? Why would it make paying for the good game somehow less palatable? A good game is a good game.
If I wanted to pay for flash games, I'd invent a time machine, travel back in time, and buy an Atari.
Flash games these days are often better than what people paid big money for decades ago. If games of this level of quality were worth paying money for then, why is charging for them now out of the question?

Because value isn't intrinsic and depends on the other options for spending your money?

I've never fathomed why anybody signs their posts. I mean you've got a fucking Signature box right under the bloody thing and your name is just to the left of the post. Are you worried that everybody on the forum suffered severe whiplash recently and you don't want them to strain their necks by having to turn their heads those crucial 5 degrees?

You don't even need to turn your head, just your eyes.
What's worse is that he linkwhored on one of his first posts.
