The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Recently my computer has stopped sleeping properly. It acts like it goes to sleep, and I hear various components (HDDs, optical drive) spin down and power off, but the fans and accompanying LEDs stay on.
I'm on a wired network, connected to the internet, sharing some files on the LAN. As best as I can figure out, Wake-on LAN capability is turned off, at least as far as I can find in windows and the network adapter config panels. The only recent change I've done to the system was 'install' an IPX LAN protocol so I could play some Red Alert 2 with my roommate.
I'm running Windows XP SP3. My only thought at this point might be some obscure BIOS setting?
Did you change your BIOS power saving setting from like S3 to S1 or vice versa? For almost 2 years now my HTPC always had the PSU fan/light going when in sleep mode. Recently I switched from S1 to S3 (or the other way around) in the BIOS and it goes completely silent/dark now.
No I haven't changed any settings in BIOS, can't really remember the last time I went into BIOS settings even. Next time I shut down I'm going to check though.
