Penny Arcade G&T Halo Group - Established November 9, 2004
Holy shit, we made it to thirty threads. That's a lot of fucking threads. I dare say that this might be the longest standing game thread in G&T history. But I might be wrong. This November will mark the fifth anniversary of The Bees Knees. Five years of Halo rapefests that branched out into all sorts of other games from TF2 to motherfucking Castle Crashers. We've spent all this time gaming, laughing, making fun of noobs, and driving my use of insulin into the ground. It's been an awesome run that will only grow when games like ODST and Reach come out in the upcoming year. We've seen people come and go. We've even grown outside of the game, which is something a lot of people who sit around and play first person shooters never get to do. We went to PAX and enjoyed Nambkab's drunkness and wandered the streets of Seattle before being promptly stomped by a bunch of ten year olds with sniper rifles. This game has brought me some of the most fun nights of my life, and all because we're such an awesome community.
This clan wouldn't still be here today if it weren't for all of the people that stuck around and played through all of those BTB matches when the rest of the world was dead. Back in the Halo 2 days, we all went out of our way to make sure that we all got the chance to group and just destroy our enemies with SMGs and Sentinel Beams. TBK New Member Nights brought people from all over the interweb together to just dick around in customs and laugh while rogue stickies killed teammates while making sure that everyone felt accepted. We continue this today (even though I'm not around very much), with a whole new group of people that, even in spite of all the loud, annoying idiots that plague Xbox Live, make this game a fucking blast to play. This isn't some hardcore clan that is devoted to being perfect with a battle rifle. This is a group of people who play Halo to have
fun. There's nothing better than getting with seven other people and storming a playlist, only to have a teammate blow a laser through your warthog.
The Bees Knees is a fucking great community. I know for a fact I wouldn't still be playing Halo today if it weren't for all of the awesome people that keep showing up every night. Sure, we all may be assholes at heart, but we're assholes
together, and without TBK, I might be playing Killzone right now.
Thank you guys for five years of awesomeness. Your dedication to just having a good time and dicking around has gotten me through years of shitty nights and drunken stupors. You guys are awesome and playing any game with you guys makes it a hell of a time. We're having a TBKon this year, and I'm going to meet every goddamn one of you and shake your hand.
Bees, motherfucking assemble.

Halo 3
Halo 3 is a first person shooter developed by Bungie exclusively for the Xbox 360, it launched September 25, 2007 and since then it has been one of the most popular games on Xbox Live, it features online multiplayer for up to 16 players and split-screen multiplayer for up to 4 players on the same console.
Multiplayer
Multiplayer can be accessed through either «Matchmaking» or «Custom Games» from the main menu of the game, custom games allow you to set up your own games with maps and gametypes of your choice, you can then invite friends or recent players into the game, you do not gain experience from custom games and skill is not tracked.
Matchmaking lets you choose from one of 14 playlists that can range from 6-player Free-For-All to 8v8 team games, there are two types of playlists: «Social» and «Ranked» , in ranked playlists your Trueskill rating is tracked and visible for all to see, in social games your Trueskill rating is still used to match you with players of similar skill, however, social Trueskill is invisible and only used for matchmaking purposes, it will not appear on your profile.
Playlist DLC requirements:

Halo 3 also has a campaign, it has 9 missions and can be quite fun, campaign mode also features a co-operative mode that supports up to 4 players over Xbox Live or 2-player split-screen co-op on one console, some of us play this occassionally and we'll be happy to help you if you need your «Campaign Complete: Legendary» or «Vidmaster: Annual» achievements.

What's next?
There are two Halo games currently in development that we currently know about:
Halo 3: ODST
Release date: September 22, 2009.
Halo 3: ODST is a stand-alone expansion to Halo 3 that takes place around two weeks before the start of Halo 3, you take on the role of an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper that is separated from his squad, the game takes place in the dark streets of New Mombasa and is an open-world game, the story will be told through flashbacks which are triggered when the player finds certain items (clues to the fate of his squad) Meet the Squad.
ODST will play noticeably different from the Halo 3 you know and love, ODSTs may be the elite of the UNSC armed forces but they're not SPARTAN supersoldiers like the master chief, you will no longer have a recharging energy shield, in its place you have a «stamina» bar which takes far less damage and recharges slower than the energy shield, you also have a «health bar» like the one in Halo: CE that does not recharge and has to be replenished using health packs that can be found around the city.
Players will also have access to a night vision mode (called VISR) and two new weapons, a pistol that is pretty much the Halo: CE pistol and a silenced, scoped SMG, read more about these here: Feet First.
Halo: ODST project page (with lots of info and cool shit).
And Halo: Reach
Halo: Reach is a Bungie-developed first person shooter with an expected release date of some time in the fall of 2010, a multiplayer beta will be included with Halo 3: ODST.
That's all we know so far.
Halo: Reach project page (with announcement trailer).
Pretty much three thousand pages. That's a lot of Halo talk.
Also a reminder from the last thread:
Then there was that time I accidentally lasered thrill. Thrill was all like "viscount get him off of me! Get him off of me!" and drove his hog right into my laser path. I did get them both but it was another sonnavabitch moment.
Also, Fyre, If I get the overshield, Please don't sticky me.
(I...I guess that's the limit of my reminiscing)
I also remember my first ragequit, too. fyre was pissed "DON'T EVER DO THAT AGAIN"
Radjago is still around too. I haven't seen default in awhile though.
Going back and looking at the old halo 2 maps- I miss a bunch of them. Containment would be neat to see, but we have had too many remakes as it is. I also wish the 360 had more memory for larger maps honestly. *sigh*
Also, what does it take to get onto the GT list? I'm on when no one else is on!
(Which isn't fair )
I haven't seen an honest to goodness TBK signal in awhile.
I have a lot of rumble pit games with Leitner and Willeth in my games history from when i first started, good times.
Or just whenever. I finally got this game back. Wants to plaaaaay!
But as X so fluently said, we may be assholes, but we're assholes together.

Also I'll never forget how it felt when I was first handed Overlord in the Halo 2 (IT WAS WONDERFUL). Someone needs to dig up the old Overlords picture.

Christ. Six years almost since I started Halo 2. Started with Halo co-op at my mates even earlier. Probably a thid of my life or more since I first got hooked on this series.
come to think of it, I have a lot of games early on with people I don't even recognize
With the new people we are adding, we might have to run 2 groups soon here. Our BTB group is filling easily now which is nice.

Custom Games FTW!

My first game of H2 online consisted of me, my two cousins as guests, and our old illustrious leader, Recoil42.
I fucking love you guys. We've been at this forever, and it's never stopped being awesome. When my friends would go play ranked MM to "pwn noobs" and get whatever the fuck "rank" is, we'd play Segata Sanshiro or Worst Game Ever on Midship. Or I'd kill Nambkab for the sniper rifle on Coag. and make certain enemies forever.
Hell, I hung around online with you guys so much that I got diabetes. I'm just lucky that so much exposure to X really equals Type-Two.
Now, I'm playing H3 more often, trying to get back into the swing of things for ODST, and so far, failing. But yet, I'll get off work tonight and sign in and find the party, and while we play BTB, take the hits about liking Too Human, and being from LOLbama, and have an excellent fucking time.
EDIT: MOURNING WOOD NEVER FORGET
So I played games in smaller groups with Metagami and Ratsult particularly. I think I was playing with Bees during the day for 2 or 3 weeks before I ever even met Fyre.
sidenote: Also, worms 2 campaign beat'd.
