My guess is again based on a potential `Penny Arcade Universe'. If thats what people are thinking/hoping will result from all this, you really want to get a couple of mainstream guys in place to set the scene, and Silver Age or Myths are probably the best categories to do that.
"God, My Alterego is a douchebag", "B-list heroes/villains" and "Superpowers and debilitating psychosis" are hardly likely to result in the sort of hero you would want to make central in a powered universe.
I think I created the "God, My Alterego is a douchebag" theme because I'm generally a fan of heroes that have douchey tendencies, and I thought it'd be funny if someone's alternate identity was such a dick that even they didn't like themselves. The GV universe is going to need it's share of personalities and jobbers, after all.

I misread "God, my Alterego is a douchebag". For some reason it read as "God, My Alterego, is a douchebag", and all I could think of was all the douchebag gods from the assorted mythologies of the planet showing up as incarnations of super heroic assholes across the planet.
I still don't get why everyone is doing the really hard to draw one
Like, that is probably the least interesting out of the bunch.
Actually I think it could be pretty interesting. Coming up with a unique and useful powered hero that is hard to represent visually seems like quite a challenge to me.

True, but maybe some of us would want a few softballs first before tackling the hardcore projects.
That being said, I do have a few ideas with regards to superpowers that can't drawn period, but they're so high concept and bizzare, that I doubt they would make sense to anyone and flop.
Maybe we should have a runoff with like 4 or 5 choices. Otherwise the winning entry is, despite being the most popular, only going to have the support of less than 15% of the board.

I think it would have much more interesting results than just 'sci fi hero' or something like that.
Maybe we could do the next runner up the next week, or something like that?
nah, he has to save him from like six ghosts and maybe a werewolf
(as an aside, at one local best buy they have this "RECCOMENDATION WALL" where people who work there put two things up there that they like, one person put filmation ghostbusters and wanted on there, I think they were trolling me)

I mean, how is that even motivation to want to create a character?!
I can draw OK but for those of us who cant, damn is this contest gonna die off or what!
PS: Just call me Captain Pessimistic!... from Pakistan!
also a young brad garret on roseanne is creeping me out
hey people that can't draw, y'all suck

Ridiculous Silver Age origin
I'm going to put up a thread on Monday for the first contest, with rules and whatnot, so start thinking of ideas!
Our second theme will be:
My Power is Awesome but Really Hard to Draw
We'll do this...maybe in two or three weeks? Depends on how long we set the deadline on challenge one.
Our third challenge will be:
Inspired by Folk Tales, Myths, and Legends
After that, we'll have another poll, since we have a bunch of things tied at four votes, and we'll take more suggestions as well.
giblets are involved, at any rate
Or is that just turkeys
like, when we get to halloween, have the special theme have to do with halloween costumes come to life or something
his mortal enemy would be the wind
the end of the story is that a kid in a ghostbusters costume saves the day, and is also the coolest kid on the block, obviously
but he has to first beat up a loser in a Filmation Ghostbusters Costume
