Permit me to be a little clueless here, but I feel I must ask:
I'm currently listed as 34th for Darksiders on 360. However when I look at the trading stats on the page it lists that, in front of me, there are currently 26 Full Package, 1 D&M and 1 Disc Only - along with 29 Full Packages On Hold.
Does that mean that (hypothetically) all those On Hold people could activate and throw me back to 62nd?
For Risen: "The "Position" on your Request or Offers lists show your position relative to all other users in all Countries that you have selected in your Trading Region. This is the maximum number of active requests/offers that can be ahead of you from all members in these countries, regardless of what other countries they have chosen to trade with.
Conversely, the Trading Info tab - "Active", "Restricted", "On Hold" - in the item page shows only those requests or offers that would be available to YOU, should you request or offer the item. These numbers are not only filtered by trading region, but also they take in consideration the reciprocal countries each user has chosen to trade with: the countries you have chosen to trade with and all other users that have chosen to trade with your country."
So it's a trading regions thing for the difference. Now, if everyone on hold happened to activate theirs before you got your copy, they would be ahead of you. However, it's not really worth worrying about that much because it's more likely that you'll either get yours before more than a few of them activate or more of the active people ahead of you will either put theirs on hold or become restricted in some way.
Looking into it a little more, and using the Matrix Match section on the Goozex FAQ I don't think I was quite correct. While you can get full package copies when requesting disc only, I don't think changing your request like that will get you ahead in line. I'm pretty sure your overall position is what only gives you priority and then you'd only get the game ahead if you did receive a disc only game.
So unless someone really wants to try it, it's probably not worth bothering over.

Goozex explicitly states that if you request 'Disc Only' you may be paired up with someone offering a 'Full Package'. It makes sense, since someone who requests disc only isn't likely to complain if they get a full package, and the sender gets the same amount of points either way.
Whether this trick works or not depends on whether Disc Only or Full Package requests get priority.
The priority is given to whomever is first in the list. There is no "trick."
The only "trick" would be people offering a new release up as "disc only" because that queue would be much, much shorter to get the game out. People would then need to request "disc only," thinking that those "disc only" offers would actually be "full package" because it's a new release.
Other than that, requesting "disc only" actually puts you in the same "queue" as everyone else, in theory. You just get the added bonus of being eligible for "disc only" offers as well as "full package."
Yeah, this isn't really that hard to understand. The key here is realizing that nobody with a full package is going to list as disk only, because that is completely non-intuitive plus limits their audience. So, not only will they not do it by accident, but they won't do it if they give a moment's thought, either. :P
So yes, requesting a disk only trade may well speed up you getting the game... but only if it results in an actual disk only. If you get a full package, as is likely for a new game, you'll have waited the same as you would have having requested full package.
So I'm only a few trades in, and have already hit a snag.
I've been following the advice in this thread pretty closely, but one that may have been common sense and that slipped past was copy and paste to prevent human error when entering the recipient address. Over a week ago I sent a copy of Tokobot (UK version, strangely enough) off to Guy Guyson at 1301 Guy Road. First Class USPS, delivery confirmation, #0 bubble mailer, Paypal shipping. (Actually couldn't figure out that I had to click "multiple orders" for the longest time) A few days ago, delivery status dings "delivered" and I'm riding high. Any time now I should have my feedback and points and be on my way. fast forward again to today. Guy Guyson shoots off a PM- "package status says 'delivered', but i didn't get anything?"
OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT.
Okay, so Guy is pretty cool about it so far. Asks if I had the address right and everything; so I go to my paypal receipt and copypaste the address I mailed to. Guy replies- "um, you got it all right except the house number. I'm 1031, not 1301.
OHSHITOHSHITOHSHIT.
At this point, package has been delivered for several days; I'll call USPS tomorrow, but the things been 'delivered' for 3+ days now; I don't know what they can do. If they can do anything it will likely take a week or more. I really hate to impose upon Guy to walk down the street (google maps indicates I was only off by 5 houses) and inquire after it, but do I have a choice? Whatever happens I will likely send along another game for his troubles. In this sort of peer-to-peer situation I'd feel like a huge dickwad otherwise.
I really hate to impose upon Guy to walk down the street (google maps indicates I was only off by 5 houses) and inquire after it, but do I have a choice?
If the dude had any sense, he'd just walk over there and inquire about it. Was his name on the label? Like, his real name? If so, it is illegal for the recipient to open it. Last name only would count as well.
Just ask the guy why he hasn't just asked his neighbor about it. If he says he doesn't want to, then hell, he's shit out of luck.
I know that's the deal, but in the real world things go terribly wrong and malevolent neighbors keep your mail. To be honest I'm slightly more concerned that they sent it back to me, as I don't want to deal with a drawn-out deal with the points and the feedback and the ennnghhhh.
I mean, even if things go down just swell and he has new neighbor buddies to have over for dinner next Tuesday, I still sent it to the wrong address and caused him extra trouble.
I know that's the deal, but in the real world things go terribly wrong and malevolent neighbors keep your mail.
You are so absolutely right here. It doesn't matter what's illegal or not, if somebody does it, that's effectively irrelevant.
As far as your issue, though, hm... I think the best possible scenario would be that they send the game back to you. That is, of course, assuming his neighbor doesn't walk over tomorrow and hand it to him. But seriously, the guy should at least try to talk to his neighbor. After all, what if he or she is a totally nice person who had no idea why this thing was delivered to their house?
Okay, so Guy is pretty cool about it so far. Asks if I had the address right and everything; so I go to my paypal receipt and copypaste the address I mailed to. Guy replies- "um, you got it all right except the house number. I'm 1031, not 1301.
Did you write out the label by hand and get his number wrong, or did you print the label off of goozex and that was wrong?
If you wrote it out wrong, yeah, that'd be your bad. If Goozex had 1301 in the system, that's not your fault.

While it may be common sense that the guy go over and ask his neighbour for the package, it's entirely your fault. If, for whatever reason, he doesn't get the game, you're out of luck on those points. If he disputes it, he will win.
He could simply decide that five houses down isn't worth his trouble, and he'd still win the dispute. You sent the package to the wrong address. Delivery confirmation or not, you didn't send him the game.
Anyone know anything about the matching algorithm that Goozex uses?
For example, say I make a trade that brings me up to 600 points and 1 trade token available. I want two games.
Game A: 600 points, 5 active supply (say a game that was released recently, but is short, or not good)
Game B: 300 points, 1 active supply (say a game that was released awhile ago, but few people bought it)
I'm just curious which I'd get. Is it random? Does it take the overall supply into consideration, so games with smaller supply get bumped up the list? I can't seem to find anything about this on the Goozex site.

They match you up as soon as there is an active offer and it's your turn. There is no algorithm that I am aware of (or that we'd even find out about) that determines which goes first in the event of an exact tie, but what are the odds of that?

Potentially fairly good odds if you're just waiting on the points for a few games with supplies sat ready to ship.
Say I'm first in line for both of them and there are active offers on both. The system has to pick one of them. It's not going to send out e-mails to both offers and then rescind one, right?
I'm really just curious. I'll have 650 points later today after I get something in the mail and a bunch of requests - I'll see if there seems to be any rhyme or reason to the matching.

But now they use the "instant trade" system when you sign up for a game that has offers with no other requests. Since you can't add two games to your queue at the same time, that rules that out.

No.
The second the system sends a trade request to a seller, your points are removed. If the trade is denied, you get your points back. In that way, you can't have two trade requests sent to sellers unless you can afford both.
The system is going to pick whatever one it will pick first. If you want one more than the other, put one on hold. You don't lose your place in line.
It also doesn't let you accidentally double-dip on your points/tokens.
Unless you're asking what it picks if you only have enough points to get a single item, yet multiple are available in your queue. That I don't know.
Yep, that's what I'm asking. If I'm first in line for multiple items that have supply available, but only have enough points for one, how does it pick which one? I'm really just curious from a technical standpoint.
I have quite a few games in my queue where I'd be the first active in line once my points kick in, but only one has supply available at the moment, so I'll probably just end up getting that one.
Here's an idea to get a buttload of points if anyone has the cash to do it. There's currently a promotion at Toys R Us where if you buy two of Bayonetta, Army of Two 2, Darksiders or Dark Void, you get a free 60 gift card (that expires in a week, but still) Then you could either play those games, quickly flip them on Goozex to get the bonus 200 points each for 2400 total, then maybe go back to TRU and get another game and do the same thing, for a potential 3600 points and 3 games you can play for a bit.
I don't actually have enough money or interest in those games, but it's an idea.
I'm so paranoid about putting the wrong address on the package that now I print out the goozex mailing info, cut out the senders address, and tape it onto the package. No way to mess that up.
Similarly, I only ship one trade per day so there is no way to mail a game to the wrong place.
Also, Darksiders is on the way. Yaaaaaaaaay goozex. Boooooooo graduate school, because I will not have time to actually play it!

I saw that. Not only is it I think, a Rewards Zone membership thing, but...I mean, I'm getting Bayonetta and Darksiders through Goozex anyway! And I don't have a friend with Army of Two and Dark Void...I'd rather Goozex that too.
Also, gift card expires in a week? That's pretty shitty. All that flipping is making my head spin.

If you're not a Rewards member and you wanted to do it, then it takes like a couple minutes online to become a member, and you can just print out a temporary card and use it like immediately.
I just got matched up to send my copy of the Saw Trilogy, full package, and I was wondering the best and cheapest way to send this off.
I usually just use #0 mailers for my games since they fit a single game case snugly. However, this is one of the bigger dvd cases I have. I'm not entirely sure how I can mail this out for cheap. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't usually mail stuff out.

You should be able to go to any shipping store or post office and buy a bubble mailer large enough to fit it for less than a buck. If it's less than 12 ounces, ship it First Class like you normally would.
If it's more than 12oz, you can either do Media Mail (roughly same price as First Class, but slower) or Priority (slightly faster than First Class but more expensive). If you ship Priority, still use your own bubble mailer - you can get flat-rate Priority mailers, but a flat-rate large enough to hold the DVD is going to be a lot more than using your own packaging for something this light.

Don't even buy a new mailer. Rip open two of your current mailers and tape em together!
If a match times out then the offer is automatically put on hold right? I've been matched up for Bowser's Inside Story but the fucker keeps letting it time out and relisting, at which point of course we're re-matched and the cycle repeats.
What is he trying to achieve? I can only assume he's trying to manipulate the system to trade with a specific person. Thankfully the system seems pretty good at stopping him from fucking about and skipping the queue.

It is put on hold, yes. What the guy should be doing is just leaving it on hold for a couple of days and let you get matched up with someone else first. Looking for a particular person to trade with is highly impractical. There might be other reasons why you might avoid someone, like you really dont want to ship there or you're iffy about the guys feedback or no feedback.
Problem is Europe Goozex moves at a significantly slower pace and it could be a long time before another copy goes up. I've got an impeccable feedback record so it's not that. Frustrating!

How long before I can file the complaint and will I lose my place in the queue over this crap?

.... that seems so ridiculously shady. If he's so worried about 'losing' it couldn't he send it Registered Post or something similar?
Keep this communication and use it if nothing shows up. God, this sounds and feels bad.

I don't think you can file a negative until two weeks after the "Confirmed shipped" date, but I'm not sure.
You won't lose your place in line. After you file the negative, he has a chance to dispute.
1. If he does not dispute, you are refunded your points and trade credit in a few days and Goozex automatically returns you to your place in line. Do not add the game back into your requests manually or you'll have lost your place and Goozex can't rectify it. Just be patient.
2. If he does dispute, he'll have a few days to prove that the game was delivered to you. If he cannot, see #1.
I concur. Keep a close eye on it, save the message in case it goes to dispute.

Also, what the fuck is a fake postman?
Could I just dress up in a postal worker uniform and then somehow take all the mail out of those deposit boxes? Could I go into an outlet and just grab a big stack of mail and walk out?

You should be able to go to any shipping store or post office and buy a bubble mailer large enough to fit it for less than a buck. If it's less than 12 ounces, ship it First Class like you normally would.
If it's more than 12oz, you can either do Media Mail (roughly same price as First Class, but slower) or Priority (slightly faster than First Class but more expensive). If you ship Priority, still use your own bubble mailer - you can get flat-rate Priority mailers, but a flat-rate large enough to hold the DVD is going to be a lot more than using your own packaging for something this light.
What is he trying to achieve? I can only assume he's trying to manipulate the system to trade with a specific person. Thankfully the system seems pretty good at stopping him from fucking about and skipping the queue.

Could I just dress up in a postal worker uniform and then somehow take all the mail out of those deposit boxes? Could I go into an outlet and just grab a big stack of mail and walk out?
I know how I'm spending my day off tomorrow...
