Man I know how you feel Hach. I hate it, but by the time I get home it's 5:30... You have to be in bed at 11 to get a full 8 hours of sleep, that gives you almost no time to get stuff done.

I bet your wife would argue with you on that. :P

Probably :P But she only works about 3 hours a day at her job, the rest of the time she is doing research for her doctorates.

Please forgive my ignorance seeing as I'm up in Canada, but why the hell is there so much griping about socialism down in the states? I can understand how some would fear it is relatively close to communism but I'm just failing to see it.

The Republicans, forgetting as always that the Cold War is over, tried to paint Obama as a socialist during the election. Since then, they've also been trying to make 'socialism' a dirty word. Because they hate social welfare.

Ahh, see, I was distacted by the party politics up here to really get a firm grasp on everything going on with your president. Yeah, the cold war ended back in Regan's days. Funny how people still love drudging it up though. Mind you, I remember seeing something once about Palin making a comment about socialism. My response was to roll my eyes and turn the channel seeing as how even if she's American it still makes we in the north look rather bad.

See that's what I don't get. You don't see socialist countries making deals with countries like China or North Korea to "strengthen" themselves or shit like that. Hell, we've got government-run health care, welfare and other things. We pay taxes like everybody else does, and we bitch about just as much as anybody else does, it just seems like we get a bit more out of our tax dollars then some people.

The United States is owned and operated by for-profit corporations and American democracy is an illusion. That is why socialism is a bad word in the United States.

Well the atmosphere of the office is something you have to consider. I'd imagine it would probably impact your productivity (if it requires a lot of inter-office communication) and/or morale if you can't understand anyone around you.

Well, working with non-native English speakers can be awkward for many reason that don't have to do with with race.
